  • but sure, deflect away from my actual point...tis ok.

I didn't address that point because I came in on the back end of whatever discussion it sprung from, and didn't really want to get involved. Appropos of nothing, I just wanted to express my devotion to Just Breathe, and my belief that anyone who doesn't like must be inhabited by the spirit of Satan ... or maybe they're just deaf; can't hold it against deaf people. Not their fault.
btw - i actually was discussing backspacer with mr. dream over dinner last night as he finally gave it a first listen, overall he was 'eh'....but he said outright, i don't like that 'slow song'....and puts the album on, and plays just breathe. i was actually unspurprised, b/c again...he is not a lyrics guy, especially for a first listen. he said it sounded like it should be on into the wild, not a pearl jam album. fair enough. of course, it was the one and only song i fell in love with upon first listen....b/c i AM a lyrics chick. and yet, we work. 8-) tho i will add, he said his opinions change wildly upon further listenings to an album, and he didn't even listen to the whole album all the wy thru yet, so whateva....tho i doubt it'll ever be a fave of his. i did, however, email him the lyrics to that tune AND unthought known, just b/c....he should at least read their mastery. ;)

The best thing about Ed's lyrics on this album, and really every album ... they would work as pure poetry, even without music behind them.

yes, i know...it was rather rhetorical, and sure.....wasn't actually directed towards you. :)

and again....*sighs*....while i appreciate the humor, it is just tiresome the seeming lack of respect for different povs! not necessarily you, but again...it seems ok to be rather 'insulting'.....of COURSE in humor ;)....to those who might have anything negative to say about anything about the album, or dare disagree about it's 'masterpiece' status....yet it is not seemingly ok for the reverse. it is demonstrated clearly in this thread...thus my comment.

that said, while i can't understand it personally.....on the otherhand, i can to some degree see how those who have differing priorities in their music can definitely see/hear it differently than me.

and yes, i agree......a lot of ed/pj can read as poetry and can be appreciated as such. hubby is just not a 'wordy guy' as i am, but sure...he has other attributes and i love him in spite of this one eficiency. ;) he does make amazing music, so that's one plus!

i think most of us, whether we agree/disagree/somewhere in the middle with the pitchfork critique......DO agree that there is absolutely not one reason to email him about it. it was a critique, he is entitled to his opinion. that is the purpose of a critique. a critical article is not meant to stir up a 'debate' with the writer....he is merely presenting his pov, and we can take from it what we want, or not. simple as. as someone else mentioned in this thread....have you emailed each and every reviewer who gave backspacer positive reviews? and if not, why not? again, mostly b/c it is unnecessary.

but you go ahead and enjoy trying to stir the pot, you do seem to enjoy it. ;) that ain't my thing. i actually enjoyed the discussion that did grow from your OP tho, so thanks for that. :)

Don't be insulted. I'm just being a jackass. And, perhaps, using a bit of hyperbole to make a point about a song I love.

for the least they could possibly do

i know, and i wasn't.....as i said......it was more in reference to earlier points made. if you read back (and no, i don't expect you to nor would i advise it ;))...you would probably understand. i was using your post for illustrative purposes.

and sure, i get it....and agree. i told mr. dream that, according to many on the board (b/c you are not the first to express that exact sentiment) that apparently he had no soul. :ugeek:

yea go ahead email the guy and give him a laugh. pearl jam fans are made fun of by music writer cause of people like you. all you are doing is just giving us a bad name which you seem to wanna do. who cares what he said. its his job to be a critic. would it make a difference if he worked for spin or the new york times or some europe music mag.
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight
    Sammi: Wanna just break up?

Hannah Montana's album is a masterpiece.

disagree with me and i fully expect and want you to be contacted by this forum moderator telling you to leave me alone.

i also hope that the moderators of this forum contacted the OP and asked him/her to leave the Pitchfork guy alone.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

and ive always hated stupid people... na na nanana whats your point??

if you know pitchfork have as you say, always hated pj, then why are you still reading it and even giving a shit what they say?? and why the fuck are you still complaining about it??
