Europeans are sophisticated.. You ever stand next to one in an elevator? Smells like they haven't showered in weeks!:lol:;);):o:o
How very dare you! We're all gleaminly clean and at least we have room for more than one in an elevator. ;)
  • Every single tour, people slag the Seattle crowds. Having never seen PJ there, I am not sure if the crowds really are lame or if people's expectations are too high.
Best PJ crowd I've ever been in was Calgary in 2005 (of nine shows). Amazing.

Just got back from the show in Seattle. Great performance - the boys rocked it

The crowd was dismal. We had awesome seats right beside the stage, lower level - and we were surrounded by a sea of people with their arms crossed or their hands in their pockets.

Now I know we're in hard financial times and that at 8 bucks a beer its hard to have fun at the Key - but seriously folks, after a 5 year drought the welcome PJ got was shit. Boring and pathetic. The energy was gone. Not the first time I have seen Seattle shit the bed when it comes to a rock show.

Disappointing - you should know better.

Oh and BTW if you are going to participate, don't fucking sing soprano to a baritone and dont sing songs you dont know the words to, in fact just dont sing at all- you drunk fuck.

Tonight's crowd was the worst I can remember. Its Seattle! For Christ sake take your hands out of your pockets! If you can be loudest crowd in the NFL, you can clap your hands and cheer for Pearl Jam... What a bunch of losers!

And seriously, I came to hear Ed sing - I don't mind if you wanna sing, I get it, but you DONT need to try out sing Ed and you DO need to know the words - knowing the words is important.

BTW Johnny Guitar rocks live - and The Fixer is far better as a live song - one of the best of the night.

Maybe it has something to do with PJ "selling out" and their hometown fans are dissapointed?

to be bluntly honest NY crowds are hit or miss. t i thought the lack of cheering when ace came out at msg 2 08 was really sad. it also helps to schedule a nyc concert on a weekend and not a weekday.

that's because nobody likes Kiss. i remember hearing a collective "FUCK" when he was introduced. I think the crowd was expecting Bruce Springsteen or Pete Townshend.

i've never had a bad crowd experience at MSG ... greatest venue in the world.

    absolutely.

and i think it's absolutely true that some cities have a lot more energy at concerts than others, no matter the country.

  • Yeah! Everyone where I was sitting was way into it and having a great time.

I saw the whole venue rocking out, hand gesturing, singing their lungs out. Some of us don't flop around like we're 12 years old anymore, ya know there was no mosh pit or crowd surfing anymore, but yeah, I'd say from my perspective the crowd was way into it and the band delivered!!!

I feel like we are in an extended intermission break right now!!! See you fools again tonight!!!

My wife and I had the honor of attending last nights show at Key Arena. All of the 10C members sitting around us were great, except for the two Asses sitting next to us. As soon as they sat down they started complaining about how bad their seats were and how much 10C sucked. I told them they should join the Creed fan club, if there is one, and that they would probably get front row. They then proceeded to scream and yell during all of the "quieter" songs. He was yelling "NO pictures" and was yelling at security. My wife finally told him to shut up. If the show wasn't so great I would say it was the worst concert experience of my life. ASS MONKEYS!

How can you NOT get up and ROCK. I think this is what PM meant.
They could stay at home and watch it on TV and get to experience that experience.

almost half of the floor at state college. yeah, i still can't figure out why that crowd got that show. given, i was there and am not complaining. i almost got in a fight at pnc park over this. i'm completely against shitty crowds. there shouldn't be a single report about a bad crowd at a hometown show. sad.

  • It always seems so relative to me when it comes to how good a crowd is. I've been to shows where I thought the crowd wasn't that great or singing very loudly, then hear the bootleg and am surprised at how loud the place was. But when you're sitting in a bad section, it tends to make the whole crowd seem lame.

Also, I do agree that European fans seem to be really good crowds. But they also cheer wildly for soccer, a sport with little action and little strategy, so they seem easy to please. I actually find European soccer crowds more entertaining than the sport they're cheering for.
  • i live in washington and i think we have the best crowds ever! especially for a home town band like pearl jam. you must of been siting in the wrong section or just saying this to start shit on the board.

I find it hard to judge a fan by their body language, and here is why:

I am a relatively "silent" fan. I find myself not singing to major hits anymore (although I still love them). I often have my hands crossed, and am perfectly still. I find that I'll sing to songs I am experiencing for the first time (which still happens a lot over 15 shows). Even then, it's quiet, as I don't want to scream too loudly to the guy beside me.

My point being: I'm one of those fans that observes EVERYTHING. I could write a 3 page article after the show about every movement, every light, every sound, every mannerism, etc. For some reason 90% of my energy comes out after the show.

I know some think I am bored, but in actuality, it's always the time of my life. That being said, there are often yawners, clock watchers, or people texting beside me about the skank from the bar last week. I hate those guys, but when I'm beside them, its often easier to see, hear and experience the show than some of the people bouncing, and yelling at EVERYTHING. Not that I am knocking those fans either.

    To each his/her own.

Little strategy in soccer????????? there is a lot of strategy in soccer, its just a diferent type because its very dinamic, not as baseball or football. By the way I love football and MLB. And I agree with you, european and latin American crowd rock very hard!!

Some of it makes sense but we also enjoy a good band when we see one!!, as most Europeans don't have the chance to catch them as much as you guys do.

Football (soccer) being without action and strategy? Man, its not always about pure obvious goals to get you up from your seats... Just watching the combination, pace of players, the ball technique, the team disposition... One can really enjoy every part of the game. Saw so many fascinating games despite the score was 0-0 or 1-0 ...

lolll just because there isnt a coach with a friggen board telling fools where to go every second doesnt mean there isnt strategy... there is so much strategy in soccer. also there is sooo much action - just becuase a guy isnt smashed down to the ground doesnt mean there isnt action... deary me. the nfl and baseball has the least amount of action than any sport in the world i feel, 20 minutes between every play

I did start off saying after the show last night that the crowd was a bit of a downer, but with the benefit of hindsight, there's really nothing much wrong with it. No point comparing with European crowds- I shouldn't really be expecting North American crowds to be anywhere near as rabid as the European ones. That kind of rock till your socks, shoes, feet and legs come off culture just doesn't seem to be here. There's more gigs around the US generally, so the show of energy is spread a bit more thinly than Euros. I was really impressed by how active this one guy near me was on night one- his first show, was alone, and he's from a remote community where he doesn't get to see anyone come through.

Comparing to Australian crowds, I thought Seattle was more or less on par with Melbourne. Similar stage set up (until the upcoming GA shows, I guess), and you have big pockets of people who are more inclined to stand still than pogo, and more than a few who just want to sit and text.
