I agree with Cahoots....there was no energy with this Seattle crowd. Anytime that Eddie has to motion to the crowd to sing louder during Betterman is embarassing. I sat on the front row in the upper deck on Mike's side and could see the entire arena and sure...there were pockets of people really getting into the concert but the majority of the crowd only got excited for ten-vitalogy (and gtf, dte) era songs. Certain times during the concert you could hear a pin drop in between songs.... I thought it affected the band.
I thought the new songs were awesome and Unthought Known was killer! Good to hear Off He Goes, Hail Hail, Rearviewmirror, the Real Me, and Save You.

  • Why were people booing when Eddie introduced a woman who was in the string quartet?? He said, "I guess a few of you recognize her." Also booing at end of show. For same reason??
  • I couldn't hear myself singing at the O2 in London, let alone anyone around me... Did they have the volume turned halfway?

  • The crowd was yelling "BOOOOM", for Boom Gaspar.

From my perspective the crowd was excellent - energetic, polite, and really into the concert. Before the show started, the excitement was palpable. People were talking to strangers and sharing Pearl Jam concert history...pretty cool in my book. Can't wait for #2!

oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

Cahoots was probably just around some lame people. I remember in Asheville in 04, i was in the what had to have been the douche section (on the 2nd row of all places) and they almost ruined my night.

Totally agree i was in New York for the MSG shows and it may down to the fact all venues are seating, but the crowds are poor, loud but poor.

to be bluntly honest NY crowds are hit or miss. t i thought the lack of cheering when ace came out at msg 2 08 was really sad. it also helps to schedule a nyc concert on a weekend and not a weekday.

Who sits down at concerts? ok, maybe some people who need to, but WTF?
I cant stand it when you go to a concert, a ROCK concert and them people sit with hands in pockets..............
How can you NOT get up and ROCK. I think this is what PM meant.
They could stay at home and watch it on TV and get to experience that experience.

that's because nobody likes Kiss. i remember hearing a collective "FUCK" when he was introduced. I think the crowd was expecting Bruce Springsteen or Pete Townshend.

i've never had a bad crowd experience at MSG ... greatest venue in the world.
