You're right. Sometimes I think it's an adult who's being an ass. Then you realize it must be just some punk kid. No adult can really act like that, right?

(ill preface this with knowledge of my exrtemely high standards for pj)meh, thats my original feeling right after ive listened to it three times now, starts off strong real strong with gonna see... got some(my favorite song so far)andthe fixer but then seems to lose direction after that, still a decent album but like s/t doesnt have great flow or purpose, johnny guitar is a song that will probably grow on me as i listen to it more, just breathe is a beautiful song, amongst the waves was the one song besides got some and the end that i was really excited for and its just ok, maybe im just sick of water and ocean references in almost all of their songs lately, unthought known, meh ok tune, supersonic most of us had already heard andi like it fun fast song, speed of sound is another ok track along with force of nature just pretty forgettable and maybe im noticing as much as i love matt cameron maybe hes too much of a good thing it seems with matt pj tries to cram too much music into their songs and it crowds up the flow of their mojo, maybe its just me, but the final take, the end is another cool ed song as always pj has always had great bookends with their albums and the end leaves you wanting more, again no terrible political songs here, the worst backspacer tracks are still quality tracks, just not much ooo and aaahhhs here i think got some and just breathe will be the follow up singles,i give it 3.5 outta 5 stars, peace.

Are you sure you didn't like it? I don't know, I usually use the term 'meh' to refer to something I am totally indifferent about or care so little about that I would look at it or listen to it once and then discard it and probably not ever see it or listen to it again. I think your writeup and star rating merit more than just 'meh'.

I asked you some real questions. I'm very interested to hear what you think, and it can prove to the doubters that you're really heard it.

    in regards to solar..

i just want to know why he is so passionate against something so insignificant and something that he has no control over in the grand scheme of things. is his life that mundane that he has to scold and belittle people on a message board for downloading music?? i have no real position on the issue but i'm merely wondering what his problem is.

Give us a good review of the record. We haven't really gotten a good one from a real fan yet.

You really can't blame people for doubting you when you haven't given any real description or analysis of any of the songs, other than what's available in 30 second clips.

How can we discuss the new record if we haven't heard it yet and you didn't really provide any details?

okay then. have a nice time. but lets face it , your "review" consisted of you naming the songs in order.

not much else to talk about, hence why your thread was derailed with the argument of comparing DL albums to capital murder.

if you would have given us more to discuss, that may not have happened.

really all you did was tell us you didnt dig it so much. not much to say to that except, "sorry that sucks."
    Peace, Love.

Some people's views are just stuck in the past. Illegal downloading is a reality, most bands have realised this, and are working on other ways to make money.

you came here writing a "review" of a record that no one else has heard yet. what do you want us to discuss with you? especially because you didn't give us any new or insightful information.

SolarWorld - I have a couple of questions for you. First of all - what have you done for yourself or for anyone else by making the statements you've made? You have failed to better yourself, or right the wrongs that you seem to believe are around here, but have succeeded at putting people down.. I'd call that purposeless, and if you have no purpose in what you say or what you do, what's the point?
Second, you seem to be living by a set of double-standards.. you call people infantile, and you also call them moronic and dirt bags. Huh?
Finally - I personally (and I would imagine many others on here have as well) pre-ordered the album on vinyl and on CD, and if I see it on a torrent site, I will download it. Frankly, I see no reason to pass judgment on people as 'awful people' when they have full intentions of supporting the band. I am not taking any profit (or even potential profit) away from the band from my downloading of their album before-hand... and that's even if it WERE leaked, which it's not.

In the case of a possible Backspacer leak, which is what we were discussing here, I think most of us did pay for that music.

  • yes i will buy the album, yes i love pearl jam, no i didnt illegally download it, i dont download music cause it sounds like shit, no i dont know anything about amazon.com playing the new album and im sorry if you feel i didnt do a good job of reporting, i will add the eds voice sounds the best out of any record that they've done and i hope brendan obrien produces the rest of their catalouge, another thing that bothered me a little about the album is how many fadeouts there were, about half the album have fadeouts! im hoping these songs get extended live, ed and stone really shine

What about Mike? What are the guitar solos like? What is the chorus in Amongst the Waves sound like? Any info on the lyrics to it too?
mike def isnt at the forefront which is a little disheartening, but his solos (amongst the waves, johnnyguitar, the end in particular) are different from what we're usually accustomed to when you think of the typical mike solo which is a cool thing i think again i think ill like it even more after when i get hear it again, i dont have thecopy anymore, they kind of speedup andslow down and givethe songs a different pj feel, that only us pj freaks would pick up on..

And if you get it before the release date you are contributing to the system that takes money out of artists pocket. You put money in, most people dont. Just fucking wait. Its three weeks.

  • Benj - to your last comment, I think Solar already answered that for you. He said you become part of the distributorship of the illegally uploaded music. As soon as your torrent finishes, you become a seeder and thus a partial provider of the album to anyone on the web with a torrent program. Unless you are going to claim you close your torrent program the second your torrents finish downloading...which I doubt. You may have ordered the album, but most people on a torrent site are there to obtain the music for free right?
