i dunno whether to start at the beginning and work my way up... or to buy Abbey Road first???

wish i could just buy the lot in one go...
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

Probably the lot in one go actually. Though if I feel that I need to pace myself, I'd probably get Rubber Soul, Revolver, and Abbey Road. Part of me thinks it'd be fun to start with Please Please Me and buy them one a week in order.

i'm really toying with the idea of Please Please Me and then go in order as well...

In the early days of the ipod, I took a family trip for a wedding and it was a 10 hour drive or so... I listened to their whole catalogue in order from Please Please Me to Let It Be. Kinda cool, though even the Beatles start to wear thin after 10-11 consecutive hours.

Um, then get the mono versions. They're releasing them both ways I thought.

As for me I may just have to buy the whole box set at once. It'll be hard not to.

Well then my dad is a lying bastard because he told me when I was 7 years old that Sgt. Pepper's was the best album ever made. He's had me believing it for the last 19 years.

Your dad is a smart guy with good taste in music. Aside from his love of of Pearl Jam, I don't know that the same thing can be said about "MANKIND". :D;)

well you're surly entitled to do that. A lot of people probably prefer The Who to The Beatles. I'm not one of them though

Change your alias to "Out of my mind", doggy. I like The Who, but The Beatles are on another plain....
What am I saying? We are all entitled to rank whomever wherever....
And to answer the OP. The White Album, Revolver, Abbey Road, Sgt. Pepper, Rubber Soul, Anthology 2, Anthology 3, Past Masters Vols. 1 and 2, Magical Mystery Tour, Let it be, Let it be (naked), Help, and Hey Jude in no particular order. If you leave out any of these, you are doing yourself an injustice. :D

Good thing people are allowed to listen to as many bands as they can. It would be a shame if you actually were forced to choose.

The Who are so overrated it's not even funny. Rock opera is possibly the worst thing ever brought to rock music. Even the Beatles were never that self indulgent.

one could say that sgt peppers was a rock opera :geek:

and as for the who...who's next is one of the finest recording in rock history imo

you could say that but you would be totally wrong. ;)
what started off as a concept album never really got past the first 2 songs.

as for MANKIND... start a fucking Who thread instead of copycating Townsend lines... maybe Eddie himself will come on to it and post something and then you can squeal with delight as you read it.

And it is their ONLY good album, aside maybe from the live album. Everything else is mediocre at best when not downright awfully cheesy. And Sgt Pepper didn't stick in ham handed 30 second joke tracks to explain what was happening with the story like you're hearing Hairspray.

Not sure if I follow? I'm still a bit of a newb to the tecnology behind vinyl ........But used copies are hit and miss in terms of how the records were cared for and why wouldn't the remastering and cleaning up process provide a better pressing? :?
