I saw both Chicago shows and they were great....but I'd have to give the nod to Monday. I haven't used my 10C membership to get tickets for every tour as I'm often not sure of travel availability in time to get them, but last night I got 10C tickets and they were great (7th row off to the side of the stage...Sec 121). I was worried before I picked them up because a friend got 10C tickets in the 300 section for Sunday night! Why bother? My 10C number is around 38500. Is that a low number, high number, are there a lot of old members in front of mine who might have dropped, etc.? Who knows more about the 10C ticket allocations?
38500? And you weren't up front? Something is off, as that section was going to 160-170,000 numbers.

Does he mean 385000? Someone with a 38,500 number knows they have a good number and sitting where he sat would not be good with 38,5oo.

hey there - thanks for the calling out those 2 C U Next Tuesdays last night. that was my daughter. i am not sure which guy you are but i have to say that all of the guys around us were super cool to my 13 year old (she is a bit small for her age). what bothered me the most and prompted me to go to security (something i have never done in all my years of concert attendance) was the smart ass response when i asked them to stop. in fact, they shot me a smirk and chuckled at me in essence laughing at me and my kid, had no show of remorse at all and thought the whole thing was funny. it took all the control i have to have not jumped back a row and... whatever - i was not going to get myself arrested!

i have been to well over 25 pj shows and have always been amazed by the community aspect of the 10c section down front. my member number of 66xxx has afforded me not only the best concert experiences in my over 40 years on earth but has also led to some great friendships that have started and continued thanks to pj. the guy sitting next to me was at the show in may 2003 - the first show i took my daughter to. we were dead center in the third row - eddie tossed his tambourine to her and he remembered us from that show - now that's community.

In the days before chicago's smoking ban, this would have been a different thing. i would still have taken my daughter to the show but she would have known that smoke was part of the experience and maybe would have passed - maybe not.

the security guys were totally cool - off duty chicago cops. it took daughter and brother for us to take care of the situation and i gotta tell ya... it felt damn good to see those 2 assholes escorted out of the show.

bottom line - no one fucks with my kid and gets away with it... a true shout out to you and the others and again my sincere thanks. see you at the next show.

night 2 > night 1 by far. not even going to comment on the setlist because everybody else has already said everything about it :P loved the show, definitely one of my favorites i have ever seen!

only negative things were that i swear i stood behind an NBA team lol. the height of the people on the floor in front of me was like 6'7" average!!! also, to the two guys in the very back of section 3 who were hammered off their ass bragging about not going to night 1 since they were so drunk...stay at home more often instead of ruining the show for your neighbors

yes, that's what it means, though lots of numbers are "retired," if I understand correctly, b/c people let them lapse

with numbers now well into the 400000s, a lot of us would say you've got a pretty great number! Some peole are spoiled, of course... I really hope those of you who are down front all the time still fucking appreciate it!! Don't take it for granted-- you're living what for hundreds of thousands of us is mere fantasy!!

I might give an appendage for a 38xxx number; for the 177xxx I probably wouln't give a body part, but maybe my apartment...

What can I say about Night 2 that hasn't already been said? This was one spectacular show and, and from where I was standing at least - sec2 R23 - the energy was incredible. I was pretty much in heaven right when they opened with Hard to Imagine and by the time they got to In My Tree I was floating. People around me were all into it, was jumping up and down for a good portion of the set and really felt those speakers booming in my chest cavity the way you're supposed to at a Pearl Jam concert, IMO. It's why I love the floor and why Sec 121 (with a 150XXX TC #) on Night 1 made me feel a bit more detached - perhaps because the sound wasn't good, perhaps because I didn't have to crane my neck for once, lol - but then I've never had seats anywhere before but the floor.

The setlist on Night 1 was magical but Night 2 with In My Tree, Present Tense and Brother takes the crown. Just can't beat that. Before the show, I hoped they'd play Breath and Footsteps but since they didn't I'll just have to go to as many PJ show as it takes until they do. :D

A big thank you to the Ten Club for providing me with two very distinct views on two very special nights!

Video of Fuckin' Up (taken from Section 122, Row 10)
at 3:35 or so, you can see Mike and Jeff switch guitar and bass.
at about four minutes in, you'll see Eddie put on that spiky, blond wig...

Video of the jam portion of Porch

I also tried to take some video of Crazy Mary, but I had some problems with the focus on my camera. Looking at some of the shots other people have been getting, I think it's definitely time for an upgrade.

Fantastic pair of shows. I was very pleased with the song selection, and I won't list the highlights because there were simply too many. The second night was probably better simply because we were in a better spot and could actually SEE for the entire concert (first night we were in the last part of Section 4 on the floor - my number is 204xxx), but then again, the first night had Love Reign O'er Me, Smile, et cetera - so it's a tough, tough call.

I'm a little amused by all the comments about the crowd and trying to classify the whole audience as one entity. Your experience and your impression is almost wholly dependent upon your immediate surroundings. In other words, it's all relative. If I had to pick the loudest crowd I've ever been a part of, it would probably be Toronto in 2005, but I don't see a ton of people talking about that show as a particularly memorable one (although it was for me). And jerks can ruin the best of shows, like the fucking idiot who tipped over his cup of warm piss on me during an encore break in Toledo in '04 at a VFC show  So there I was, angry as hell with somebody's urine on me and trying to absorb the fact that Neil & Pegi Young and Peter Frampton are jamming with PJ... arrghhhh!

Anyway, each Pearl Jam show needs to be appreciated for its own unique virtues, and I plan to do that by enjoying both bootlegs as soon as possible! 8-)

Oh, and for the last time - Boom is not being booed - he is being warmly greeted with a "Boooooommmm" call, similar to Bruuuuuuce Smith of my beloved but hapless Buffalo Bills of the 1990s, or as previously mentioned - Kevin Youuuuukilis of the hated Boston Red Sox. I had the pleasure of meeting Boom outside the Vedder show in Honolulu this July while on my honeymoon, and he was exactly the gracious, happy person you would imagine him to be.

I only went to Monday night show. I have loved PJ since I was a kid but just recently signed up for 10club. So my number is around 450xxx or something. Still had great seats. Section 219 row 4, just off to the side of the stage, which was very cool and gave a good view.

Ok, seriously, now I'm really wondering...my number is 161XXX...I was in 233 row 7...what's up with that? I just wish that they followed the senoirty they say they do.

Something must have been wonky on Night 1, but to be fair, both nights I asked people around me for their numbers and we were all in the 150XXX or so range, so our seats were right on for that night. However, when I picked up my tickets at 4pm on Night 1, there were only a few people at each window and things were relaxed. I don't know whether the fact that later on things got really hectic at the windows, which I heard people say happened on Night 1, had anything to do with people getting seats that seemed to not be in line with their seniority even given the high # of TC people at the show.
  • My seventh whole band show, it was great.

The version of Not For You was amazing, had never heard it like that before.

What was the tag after Not for You? Ed seemed pretty emotional singing it.

Great great night. What can you say besides..... Need new album NOW! Im so happy the played All Night and I love Got some. Wish crowd would be more responsive. Was kinda bummed that Greg G from bad religion didn't come out for a song. Thought that would have been cool. Him and Ed are quite the woodsmiths and its awesome Bad Religion got to open for them. I was fortunate enough to get their setlist!
But PJ, busting through some grant versions of Evenflow (note the awesome Matt drum solo, he had alot more in him though!) Betterman and Real Me.
The event that put the stamp on my night was in the middle of Fuck'in Up, I was stomping my feet and rocking when my sandal broke. I had to use dental floss on my way back so that my sandal would stay on! ;) A small price to pay for Pearl Jam performing such a kick ass song. Thanks guys!

Its from a band called Sleater Kinney, its off their album from "The Woods", songs called Modern Girl. :)
  • 2 AMAZING shows. Thank you Pearl Jam.

Did anyone else think it was weird they closed with YL both nights?

I actually took some "amateur" video and got 16 songs. Can't decide which 1 to share. The files are HUGE.

What a one, two punch. Both shows were great. I'd take the setlist from night two (the best I'd seen in person) and the crowd from Night I. I think I was unlucky in my location (this is no way directed towards you GoBlue). I was in Section 3 row 17.

I'll preface this by saying, I blocked all this shit out 95% of the show but sometimes it was unstoppable. Couple in front of me, girlfriend clearly not a fan and some dude. She was hammered and didn't look at the stage more than once or twice. Making out, talking, etc. They left about 7-8 songs in. Again, didn't bother me too much but when it's happening right in front of you and people are looking and point at them, it's hard not to get momentarily distracted and I did not want to miss a moment.

Dudes to my right, you know who you are 3 17 13/14. What the fuck are you doing? Band is playing like there is no tomorrow and not a single clap. nothing. Someone want to explain how or why one would not make any sign of thanks or joy towards the band? I just don't get it. When eddie is making multiple comments about the crowd (have to double check the bootleg but it was at least three or four comments and a great crowd doesn't have to be proded into being great) and I got two jackasses that close to the stage not doing a damn thing...it's unforgivable.

Then one or both of these guys let this hammered bitch enter our row twice in the middle of songs. The second time I confronted her with no support from my row. She was trying to get more of her friends to come on into our row. Yelling across people, wobbling, etc. Her group was eventually escorted out of the venue after a few moments of craziness. They were located in first few rows of maybe section 121(directly across from row 17 section 3).

Sorry for the rant, but I guess I just had bad luck. Like I said this was still my favorite setlist I've seen and the sound was great, but I would re-live night one before I had to deal with the assfucks around me (again not you GoBlue or couple from Kentucky) from night two. I wish some of you who realize how great that setlist was and couldn't make it were there instead of the problems around me. The show would have gotten off the ground sooner.

I saw all of this going on too, I was 3 19 9/10...and the guys in directly in front of me were standing there like statues too. WEIRD.
I'm not lost, but I don't know where I am...David Byrne, Talking Heads

Regal Theater, 1994--most amazing night ever.

It is weird. I hope my post will be taken for what it was, just me venting. Show was still great, but would have been better without all this.

I would agree with what you are saying except for the fact that Ed made a couple comments about the LACK OF ENERGY from the crowd. It did pick up over the course of the show in spots. But a crowd with great energy would not have Eddie trying to give it a pep talk. Setlist killed, crowd did not.

IMHO, I think some people may be giving the thumbs up to night II based on setlist and their seat location, which is fine.

Just landed back in Florida but I'm still sooooooo High the Sky I Scrape 8-) ! In My Tree & hearing Brother for the 1st time were my highlights of night 2. That & I was given a pair of tickets 6th row dead center, the best seats at a concert my wife was ever in, thanks Keith! And a special thanks to Bunting10, I backed out of his spare 10c ticket a couple of hours before the show but he understood the circumstance, sorry Bill.
So, What you Giving ?........ (Thanks Speedy, Alesek, & Arq+friends)

I suggest you step out on your Porch.

  • These were my 8th an 9th shows and the first time I had ever been on the floor as close as I was 1st night was 12th row center,2nd night was 8 th row in front of mike. Bot nights were fucking amazing. Every time I see pj they blow my mind with all their energy. Im 35 and I was wore out by the time Mike started running laps around the stage and Im thinking to my self where in the hell do they get all their energy from. Thanks to the coolest 10c member on the planet (driftingbythestorm) who made it all possible. This was also my first time to Chicago and I just want to say that all the locals including Chicago's finest were very friendly. :D
  • I was 2 rows in front of you and turned around after he fell forward.

I agree, the seats were great and better than I thought I would get. Great shows!

Thought the show was great. The new songs were good and I still love hearing the old stuff.

The guy next to me said he was also a 10club member. Seemed a little intoxicated but so was I. Anyways near the end of the night he was rocking out a little too hard and fell face first into the row ahead of us. He must have hit pretty hard because when we got him up he was bleeding pretty bad. It was funny because he wanted to stay and rock out, but his buddy made him leave, which was probably the right decision. I got home and discovered I had his blood all over my shorts and feet. Hope you are ok dude.

First of all I would like to thank 10 club for 8th row last night! We had incredable seats and I was lucky enough not to have someone to tall in front of me. (I'm 5'2)

Both nights where absolutly incredable but night 2 did it for me. They opened with Hard to Imagene...that was what I really wanted to hear. Between night 1 and 2 I'm totally, satisfied and filled up on Pearl Jam songs...hope it last me till Philly!

The band so just totally on last night...by fucking up the crowd was just crackling with electricty. My husband got goose bumps on his arms during alive and told me he wished his whole family could of been there to experance something like this at least once in there life's. This was a trully proud moment for me as he has always liked the band but never fully got it...now he GET"S IT!

Another thing that struck me was how happy the whole band looked. They where smiling and so in tune with one another. It's nice to see them in such a great place.

It was fun hanging out with everyone at the pre-party. Everyone who has shows coming up enjoy the ride! You have so much to look forward too!

See you all in Philly! :D

funny. i remember not being able to figure out if he was congratulating us or motivating us. but either way...after that comment, the crowd kicked ass.

i also forgot how much i wanted to hear in my tree. i never heard it and kinda considered it a pipe dream. brother was sick and the solos on corduroy and black...well pretty much every song were unreal.

10 Club hooked me up with Section 113 on the aisle last night...incredible seats....I am about 6'4 and was wearing a VEDDER 10 Cubs jersey. Our section was great and the show was incredible......but there were more tools at these two PJ shows than any other I have been to.

  • INCREDIBLE!!! The energy of PJ AND the fans was amazing! I never wanted it to end- I loved every minute of it, and "Daughter"- it was my fave version of that last night! Last year in DC PJ opened with 'Hard to Imagine" and I love it when they play that- that song means a lot to me in many ways.
They're all the best musicians in the world, and the best band in the world- and I was so happy when Vedder was saying, "thanks for being a part of this- thanks to the fans"- it meant a lot! Last night was the 10th time (go figure- reissue of "Ten" which means a lot to me as well)- and I appreciated the Encore 1 and Encore 2 both nights- they really played hard last night and I never wanted to leave........let's keep the love for PJ so they'll tour the US again soon after Australia tour:-)
