For the 31st its gotta be someone unbelievable who also has some significance or connection with Philly or the Spectrum. Like someone from the Rolling Stones. Or could be Philly resident Patti Labelle (kidding, although she is great). I keep having this awesome daydream where its Pete Townsend. But I think if we're talking mega star, the more likely one would be Neil Young and they finish with Rockin in The Free World. Come on this is Philly, the birthplace of freedom. We gotta believe!!!

I can tell you 100%, it won’t be the dead.

I'm predicting Springsteen showing up in one of the encores for at least one of the nights to play a song or 2 (a la Ben Harper at MSG).

    Here's my evidence:
    1. Springsteen has a tremendous history with the Spectrum and is probably #2 behind the Grateful Dead for most shows played there.
    2. Springsteen and Vedder have shared the stage before (ie Voters for Choice) and Pearl Jam has covered Springsteen songs previously (ie Growing Up).
    3. Springsteen has dates scheduled in NYC 10/29 and DC 11/2. Philly is conveniently in between those cities, and Pearl Jam happens to be playing a few dates there on those off days.
    4. Springsteen has dropped in on other bands before in Philadelphia. In 2005, he joined U2 on stage at the Wachovia Center for People Get Ready.

It all adds up to a perfect storm for a Springsteen cameo.

Makes perfect sense...cameo - yes. Opener? I'd say not. At least hopefully not. He is very good live, but he opens for no one.

I don't think people are necessarily expecting Bruce to open. I think the expectations are more along the lines of him joining them for a few tunes. I could be wrong, but that's been my take. For that matter, that's what I've been expecting no matter who it is.
