Just sign up and I will not only give you my tickets, I will fly you and a fellow pseudo fan out to whatever show you want.
i love the 'pseudo fan'.....hahaha.
as to the rest of your post, idk how to take it.
anyhoo....i think it simply makes sense to keep things as is in regards to access to shows for all fans. obviously not everyone agrees with me, but in my mind, it does indeed seem the 'most fair' way of handling it. hope 10c continues this system.

do you guys really need to go to so many shows on this tour?
i've often thought the same thing.
i didn't have the balls to ask.
kudos to you OP.
why should it matter what they do with their money?
Why do people buy season tickets to their favorite teams?
It matters when other people locally are shut out of shows because people travel all over the place to see them. I have been fortunate to get tickets to all the philly shows over the years but it gets a bit discouraging seeing the same people up front at every show. And you look on touring fans and see the same low numbers at alot of shows. It severely hinders my opportunity to get better seats. I often wonder if certain people around here have lives outside of pearl jam.

Stop attacking the guy for giving his opinion.
I think that's fair, and my gut feeling is that the band would give a 'local advantage' if implementing it were simpler. Granted, this is by no means factual, just my theory.

I am with you, J_LAWN. I personally do not understand the thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars that are spent on hotel rooms, rental cars, plane tickets, and concert tickets to see PJ over and over and over again like groupies. Sure, I have come a little ways from the years where I only saw them one time per tour, and i am going to both Seattle shows and the Portland show, but that is it. I am afraid if I go to any more shows, they will most definitely lose their luster. I don't ever want to start a thread because i am sick of a certain song because I have gone to 12 of the last 13 shows. I don't ever want to take a song for granted and use it as a pee break. But that is just me.
sure it was the OP fault. you GOTTA stay in the loop with the PJ news.
if you wanta vacation by seeing pj upteen times that's fine with me. i just don't wanttta see some boredass people in the front row when i see tour pics. AND don't post your multi shows in your siggy. it's snobish. but like animal said i don't quite understand it but to each their own.
the OP had his window. he missed it. But i still say 10c should maybe make the first hour hometown sales only.
and the OP still has a chance to snag a 10c ticket, if somebody has an extra.

I agree with you about seeing bored people in the front row - that's a real bummer to see sometimes. Regarding the multiple shows in the signature, I always thought it wasn't snobbish, rather an effort to spark a conversation with someone who may have their own story about one of the shows you were at.

hadn't noticed....i've hit it a few times over on other board incarnations. here especially it soooo deosn't matter (not that it ever did)....b/c post counts haphazardly transferred over. bizarreness.
that said, as to the topic at hand: the system imo is fair as IS. it seems to me many are using the tired old complaint about 'the same people up in the front'.....and honestly, you really think you'll do SO much better? do you truly believe there are THAt many low-#ed people traveling to numerous shows? believe me, i know there ARE a good # who do, but truly...most that i know who travel around, have #s that run the gamut, such as myself, a very mediocre #. and again, for those of us who live in highly populous areas with high #s of 10c members, fans in general, areas people like to travel...more than likely i still would have shit 10c seats, same issues trying for 10c tix....with or w/o limits. i prefer no limits. i like the opportunity to take my 10c # elsewhere, occasionally get much better seats b/c of it....and yea, still be able to hit up hometown shows too. and that is of course, if am lucky to score 10c tix at all. i really, really, really like the current system and i'd truly hate to see them implement one-show only, or hometwon advantage, or anything that limits access to 10c tix.
I often wonder if certain people around here have lives outside of pearl jam.
I'm going to 10 shows this tour...does that mean that I don't have a life outside of Pearl Jam? nope--just means that I am able to travel to different cities, meet up with old and new friends and see my favorite band play all at the same time...I'm just fortunate enough to have that kind of life.
I understand that it sucks when you can't get tickets to see your "local" show....when the EV tickets were limited to one show per member this past tour, I remember people bitching about not getting tickets to the ONE show they wanted to...didn't seem to work out that well, limiting the tickets that way. I still say that at least we ALL have the same opportunity to try for tickets. you win some, you lose some.

I haven't had time to read through all the replies, but I do feel for the young man. I wish I could help him out.
I'm in Philly and I was shut out of the first two shows for fan club tickets. It does suck, but it is what it is. If it hadn't been for the Spectrum allowing more fan club tickets to the two added shows, I may been shut out then too. And I would have been just as upset as this young man.
There's no need to give the guy a hard time. He's just airing out his frustrations.

Bearing in mind the show he is frustrated about had pre-sale tix up for a day and a half. He didn't check because he was busy. Nevertheless, it's people going to multiple shows that are holding him back.
"familiarity breeds contempt"- or in the case of PJ fans; familiarity breeds ridiculous, unfounded complaints, criticisms and whining.....
Oh, and having fans (like Pearljamgirl2010) who have funds to follow them around the globe really worked out well for some other bands didnt it: see The Grateful Dead and Phish.....

I'm actually only following them to Seattle (a short, cheap flight from LA), Los Angeles and San Diego (I live near LA) and in Philly (near where my family lives)....so fortunately, it's not an unreasonable tour for me. And, I get to visit my family during the Phillly shows :-)
Honestly now. I'm seeing how a lot of you are going to 5, 7, 9 or in some cases, even more shows on this tour. I understand how much you love the band and your "need" to see them but aren't you being a bit selfish? I have been trying so hard since pre-sale went on to get tickets for toronto but i have had no luck. It is not feasible for me to travel to Vancouver or chicago (both shows i could of gotten tickets to), yet there are many tc members traveling miles and miles to see these and many other shows.
I simply want tickets to one show (as do many others, both tc and non tc) that is relatively close to me. I don't have much money to travel far, or even keep my tc membership if this is going to be the case with tickets everytime.
I just wish my fellow TC members would be a bit more considerate of others before gobbling up all the pre sale tickets to several shows.
With respect,
jeff
Sir, are you a fan at all? I think you should forget about re-uping your 10 club membership, let the REAL fans all move up and get a better number. You should also consider removing yourself from society, move to a cave, and become a Cold Play fan.
Are you seriously delusional? This is what FANS DO. We go to as many shows as possible because most of us are 30/40 somethings and can afford it. We love to travel and see the band.
Get over yourself and stop whining. I have extra tickets for all 3 shows I'm going to (Toronto, both Chicago's), but I won't be sharing them with a mewling, whelp such as yourself.

Hey- do what you want...but still even your "reasonable tour" is far out of reach of the majority of folks financially- 3 plane tix, plus the concert tix and spending cash...that would bust alot of folks for a whole year. And I would be lying if I didnt think that there is a real sense of entitlement among some PJ fans---kinda like how it used to be for Deadheads in my experience in the early 90's. Drove me crazy then and still irks me today. I just hope that you are the type of person who does not take your privileged life for granted, thats all Im saying

Oh, I know-my tour is reasonable because I MADE it reasonable, it has nothing to do with a privileged life--just good planning and thinking ahead. Cheap flight to Seattle and sharing a cheap room with 3-4 other girls, no travelling for LA and SD, and cheap flight and staying with family for Philly. No 5-star hotels or first class flights for me :-)
I certainly am not taking it for granted... I'm not entitled to go to all these shows; I know that I got lucky with tickets and am able to take the time & money to go this time around. It's not something I've done before and probably won't do again, so I'm planning on enjoying every second of it

Fair enough I apologize for being a bit too sensitive about this issue. I just want to protect the integrity of my fav band and sometimes when I see some fans becoming a bit too obsessive and entitled (which is pretty common around here) I get worried that someday the shows may lose some of their integrity, spontaneity and genuineness because the band will think that folks will buy tix and applaud no matter how well or how poorly they play---apathy will set in like it did for the Dead and Phish.
Man, there are some harsh people on this board.
The comment about getting a job, I mean, jeezawhiz. Maybe you don't know this, little man, but there are millions of your fellow humans out of work in this country. That means people who cannot find a job. It does not mean people who won't work a job. You can "plan" all you want, but no one can plan for misfortune. You will learn this as you get older, I hope.
I have to say I'm disappointed hearing this "I got mine" attitude from PJ fans. (Yeah, I know, it's a free country, and we can all buy as many tickets as we like.) And the fellow with all the advice, the one who shared his wisdom about getting a job and planning, well, I would love to bump into you at a show here in NYC sometime.
yeah the 'i got mine so there' attitude may be excessive... so is the 'get a job' attitude.
i am broke beyond broke and spent the little i have left for the 4 shows i'm going to (although like i posted earlier, they are in a pretty decent radius!)
i probably shouldn't have but i did.
if someone told me to get my priorities straight i'd probably agree with them...
but that's what i chose, and i like to travel, and i like to meet people who travel, and never really see the whole 'hometowners only' attitude as anything but selfish and filled with the usual entitlement a lot of fans these days seem to have.
and the whole, 'thats what the better fans do' thing is annoying as well.
come on, you get tickets, you don't get tickets, you go to shows, you don't. that's just the way things are, its disappoiting, yes, there's no denying that. but find positive ways around it instead of complaining, it will get you a lot further! and if you don't find a way in (unlikely, by the way) then i'm sure there are more important things in life to worry about...

Yeah, it was the mushrooms that always did me in.....
And I'm going to 4 LA show, SD & all 4 PHL...I have the vacation saved from what was supposed to be a honeymoon (dodged a bullet on a bad engagment), have a bunch of friends in LA, have the funds to travel, Philly shows are hometown for me, so I don't see it as selfish or indulgant, sorry, don't hate...I've got a lower #, so I've put in the years of dedication and the OPs similar mindset...
and judging by her post, Pearljgirl2010) has similar availability of funds, vacation...again, don't hate
I met my wife here...you can too! Don't lose hope!
I'm a little late to the discussion, but here are my brief thoughts...I don't see it as a problem that they allow members to buy tix to multiple shows...god knows I make heavy use of that...the only reasonable compromise that I wouldn't have a problem with is limiting members to buying only one show per city each tour. Nobody really seemed to complain about this and the LA shows, and it would ease some of the pressure in those super popular areas...
And to the OP...Toronto is a huge show...there will be tons of tickets all over the place. Also, never believe any ticketing agency when they say "no more tickets will be released.". That is always a lie.

Dude that is what happens. Who cares? As long as you're at the show. Sure it's discouraging seeing John Doe all the time up front but w.e. Are you gonna tell him, hey can you not enjoy life this summer? For me pretty please.

Incorrect, its not just these cities, its every city. I recent moved from CT, just outside of Hartford, and I was shut out of 10C tickets more than one Hartford show. This should not happen at the expense of those who can travel to upteen different shows. Period.
If people from Boston, NY, and RI didn't attend the Hartford shows...... you would never get a show. Much in the same way Anchorage, AK never gets a show.
Just a guess, but I would personally be thankful that people travel to Hartford. [/quote]
ONCE AGAIN, I don't care that people travel to the show's, that is great and it adds to the atmosphere that much more, which myself and anyone else would encourage. Just give the locals some sort of friggin preference or advantage over those who can afford to/are willing to travel from all over hell in these situations, which is what the 2 show limit would do.
I still disagree... I think that whether or not you are local or travelling... tickets are always available. Do you honestly think that for example the toronto or phlly shows will have not Toronto or Philly people? Of course not. I would bet that most are local. You have to understand that most locals are at these shows... because they purchased tickets when tickets were available. Asking for some sort of advantage because you live close by is just .... well sorry, but stupid. And having a limit... also stupid.

Peace out.

I ate too many rancid veggie burritos at the dead shows to ever feel privileged.

Fair enough
yeah the 'i got mine so there' attitude may be excessive... so is the 'get a job' attitude.
i am broke beyond broke and spent the little i have left for the 4 shows i'm going to (although like i posted earlier, they are in a pretty decent radius!)
i probably shouldn't have but i did.
if someone told me to get my priorities straight i'd probably agree with them...
but that's what i chose, and i like to travel, and i like to meet people who travel, and never really see the whole 'hometowners only' attitude as anything but selfish and filled with the usual entitlement a lot of fans these days seem to have.
and the whole, 'thats what the better fans do' thing is annoying as well.
come on, you get tickets, you don't get tickets, you go to shows, you don't. that's just the way things are, its disappoiting, yes, there's no denying that. but find positive ways around it instead of complaining, it will get you a lot further! and if you don't find a way in (unlikely, by the way) then i'm sure there are more important things in life to worry about...
Yeah, it was the mushrooms that always did me in.....
and judging by her post, Pearljgirl2010) has similar availability of funds, vacation...again, don't hate
And to the OP...Toronto is a huge show...there will be tons of tickets all over the place. Also, never believe any ticketing agency when they say "no more tickets will be released.". That is always a lie.

I agree with you and totally understand...there is a sense of entitlement floating around here. If i don't like what I'm hearing or seeing, I don't pretend to :-) I openly admit to hating Low Light and refuse to sing along when I hear it live ;-)

But the answer is: Yes.
I need to go to as many as I can swing, both in terms of money and time. Unfortunately this time around, that's just one show, an hour up the road in Austin.
Ah well.
for the least they could possibly do
Dude that is what happens. Who cares? As long as you're at the show. Sure it's discouraging seeing John Doe all the time up front but w.e. Are you gonna tell him, hey can you not enjoy life this summer? For me pretty please.

If people from Boston, NY, and RI didn't attend the Hartford shows...... you would never get a show. Much in the same way Anchorage, AK never gets a show.
Just a guess, but I would personally be thankful that people travel to Hartford.
Sorry
