with all due respect, almost everyone starts out by not getting it.

so please don't diss the people who don't know yet, or even the people who choose to be different than you, yet are still fans of the band.

wanting to know only people who "get it" is limiting yourself. your loss.

But then this brings up another question. What about ten club members without access to a computer or internet? Are they to be denied the opportunity to get pre sale tickets? Why should a fan be screwed if they do not have a computer?

    PURCHASING TICKETS
•Ten Club pre-sale tickets will be available online only at http://www.pearljam.com in the Goods section. No phone, e-mail, or mail orders will be accepted.

This has been the policy for a long time and it was when you purch.ased your membership

this thread is really pathetic. i'm sorry but it really is. if you wanna see the band that badly then you find a way to see them. I'm pretty sure everyone on here had a job while going to college. its not that hard to do both.
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight

  • Man, there are some harsh people on this board.
The comment about getting a job, I mean, jeezawhiz. Maybe you don't know this, little man, but there are millions of your fellow humans out of work in this country. That means people who cannot find a job. It does not mean people who won't work a job. You can "plan" all you want, but no one can plan for misfortune. You will learn this as you get older, I hope.

I have to say I'm disappointed hearing this "I got mine" attitude from PJ fans. (Yeah, I know, it's a free country, and we can all buy as many tickets as we like.) And the fellow with all the advice, the one who shared his wisdom about getting a job and planning, well, I would love to bump into you at a show here in NYC sometime.

I am upset that Donald Trump has 3 airplanes. I have none. Couldn't he just give me one fully fueled and staffed? I would fly as many of you that could fit to as many shows as we could all go to.

If you really want to go to this show - you could ask if someone has an extra you can purchase...likely with a better number than you have! It is my experience that when you ask nicely on this board for someone's spare you get many people willing to help out.

I've also managed to get really good tickets off ticketmaster two to three days before the show.

good luck getting to your show -dawn

My apologies... but are we supposed to feel bad for this guy? Should we give up our tickets? If I pushed someone out of the way to get a ticket, then maybe I would see your point. But these tickets were AVAILABLE TO ALL. Give us a break for getting tickets. If this was such a sin, I'm sure people would be giving their tickets away.

I did not start this thread out of nastiness or to diss any one on this board. I signed my original message on this topic "with respect", meaning I respect all of your decisions to go to multiple shows and travel to see the band.

That being said, I hoped for the same respect from you. Thanks to everyone who gave me tips for how to score tickets for next time but to those who were not so kind to me, your comments were unnecessary.

I guess my biggest gripe here is how i purchased a TC membership to avoid what happened last year (me scrambling for tickets last second on ticketmaster). I was under the impression that if I bought a membership i would be guaranteed the opportunity to purchase tickets before the public on-sale and this was clearly not the case. The point where i really became upset however was yesterday afternoon when i called the venue for friday and they told me that "absolutely no more tickets would be released".

Here's to next tour i guess

    Hey, Jeff.

After reading the posts, i had a rollercoaster of emotions.

For the 2003 (?) tour, PJ announced three mexico shows. We went nuts. Then I saw the prices  Our plans fell apart. To make it short: the plane ticket was cheaper! I was studying at the time. No job. Like you. I remember those were the old message pit days. I started a thread in wich I pleaded for a guatemalan (or central american) show. I remember there were many replies. Some even offered me a ticket and a place to sleep in the us, I just had to buy the plane tickets. Awesome people. Sadly I don´t know who they were. It was a thread that lasted a decent amount of time. Did not go to Mexico. A mexican music channel wich i still have on cable broadcasted the final show live. I watched alone and got wasted (not my finest two hours). Another friend who at the time was really nuts for PJ, did not even watch the show. That´s how affected we were those days and yes, all because of pearl jam.

I don´t remember quite well, but I think I bumped the pleading thread in 2005. And it still got some "airtime". I was told by a good source that pj management in fact did talk with local promoters. I remember it was sept 15 2005 (independence day). I went to a bar for a really nice rock show with some friends and a radio dj announced on the mic that he was happy to inform us that Pearl Jam was doing a gig later that year or the next, I honestly don´t remember. What I do remember is walking over the table and spilling some drinks and ask him if he was not joking around. He grabbed my hand and looked straight in my eyes and said it´s a done deal. I thanked him for the info and hugged him, for real. As you all now know, this never came to happen. Turns out the local promoters rejected the band because they felt Pj was overcharging them and did not feel positive on selling tickets for such an event. ARE YOU F* KIDDING ME!!!! Many would have come from south mexico, every central american country, even as far from colombia. Not to mention some europeans and gringos. At least that´s what I think.

Now, these days, I saved some money. Was positive when they announced the toronto, chicago and europe shows. Became a tenclubber in may. And just hoped. If it´s not this year it´s the next was my way of seeing it.

Got seattle 2 and LA1. Immediately found some kind tenclubber to exchange tickets for seattle. The next day a friend said he would consider joining me. Considered quickly and two days later he made an appointment for a visa application (wich totally sucks, btw). Bought one seattle 1 ticket and two LA2 on ticketmaster. We are ticket buddies for LA now. He did this without knowing if he would get the visa, wich he did. Like a week later another friend also asked for job permission and he´s also going. F* AWESOME. He is still scheduled for the visa application for next week, but he bought the tickets for LA1&2.

And what do you know, really cool tenclubbers will sell me their extras for FACE VALUE, jeff. All the tickets we needed to enjoy Pearl Jam 4 nights. So good things happen around here. Reading this thread at some point made me feel like manure. Like when teasing somebody because they got the hots for a girl and being ashamed (remember when you were in first grade, jeff). But then feeling like I own the world because I´m travelling more than 4,000.00 km to seattle (PJ hometown for crying out loud!!). Going at last to LA not only to see them againg, twice, but also to visit my sister and tons of family more.

    And all because of who?

PEARL FUCKING JAM. Probably the only shows I´ll attend in my life. And if i could, would definitely travel again and if i could, would try to catch more than JUST 4 shows.

Sorry if someone already posted this, but per the welcome e-mail from the 10C:

"In the past we have done our best to provide each member with access to tickets and tour information. We expect to provide you with the same privilege in the future, if, and when Pearl Jam plays in your neck of the
woods. But please understand if we are unable to guarantee this service."

Don't worry though, I missed some shows in 06 and 07 through 10C but still got something figured out. I also missed some shows for this tour due to bad timing but had multiple offers to share and even set something up within 24 hours of posting on this board. Also, keep trying TM no matter what the box office says. I just don't think they want the mass public to learn about the ticket drop!

Honestly now. I'm seeing how a lot of you are going to 5, 7, 9 or in some cases, even more shows on this tour. I understand how much you love the band and your "need" to see them but aren't you being a bit selfish? I have been trying so hard since pre-sale went on to get tickets for toronto but i have had no luck. It is not feasible for me to travel to Vancouver or chicago (both shows i could of gotten tickets to), yet there are many tc members traveling miles and miles to see these and many other shows.

I simply want tickets to one show (as do many others, both tc and non tc) that is relatively close to me. I don't have much money to travel far, or even keep my tc membership if this is going to be the case with tickets everytime.

I just wish my fellow TC members would be a bit more considerate of others before gobbling up all the pre sale tickets to several shows.

    With respect,

dude, everyone was given the opportunity to purchase tickets. For the TOR tickets, I was at work- but i knew something was going on- because i checked the board that week- and sure enough I arranged for someone to check the site and then log in and buy me my tickets.

If something is important to you and you are interested enough to take an active roll in knowing what happens, then you won't miss out.
I empathize with you on not being able to go- but I have no sympathies on your reasoning. IF you missed out, its no one's fault but your own.

    I kinda feel bad now...

anyways Jeff, the important thing to learn is that when a band as big as Pearl Jam comes around.. you need to be on the ball to get tickets....

and try not to blame those who go to more than 3 shows a tour. If you got tix... would you be on here still voicing your opinion?

Sure, you signed 'with respect', but you also directly implied that anyone going to 5 or more shows were being selfish. So now people going to multiple shows feel compelled to defend themselves.

"No disrespect" (see how that doesn't negate the next thing I say), but this just comes across as stupid. Why? Because these tickets were available for quite some time, there was plenty of lead time given to get prepared, and being informed is your responsibility. So not only are you calling people selfish, but doing so from a position of "poor me", when the only person to blame is yourself. You want people to feel bad about loving this band and going to multiple shows? That is infuriating.

Then in the face of a lot of GREAT advice about searching on this board for tickets, being tenacious about continuing to monitor ticket master, and perusing craigslist day of show (as people often find themselves with a newly found extra when a friend cancels), you take a defeatist attitude. This is also insulting to people, the same one's who you are accusing of being greedy, who have gone through hell and back just to get in the building, take on a never give up attitude, and don't think they are entitled to anything.

    J_LAWN wrote:

And here (right before you offer up respect) you tell everyone who is going to a few shows, that you think they have been inconsiderate of you and your situation. Which is completely ridiculous.

Here is some advice, (kind of wraps up what people have been saying), some more respectfully than others:

Take some responsibility for your situation. (Don't blame someone else, especially when unfounded).
    Lose the entitlement attitude.
Make an effort to get tickets, and don't just rely on an ignorant, misinformed idea that just signing up for a fan club guarantees you tickets without any thought or action on your part.

And lastly everyone who suggested that you plan, save, and perhaps get a part time job (if possible in this economy). That is some good advice for the future.

Good luck. I honestly hope you get your ticket.
