no I do think their tour buses run on that new alternate fuel but this was something I read here in a post quite awhile back but as I said I can't confirm if its true
Yes they fly all over... most people do even those who are heavy into the environment.
When EV came out with his Into The Wild cd he did the coasts
then the Midwest
then the South
He will be back to promote his new cd and spread the love to us too.
I really believe the guys do not choose where they go..I think they are told and it is arranged
but thats just my thought. I'm hoping he might promote on late night TV
so I can DVR and keep
I will maybe try for St Louie tix..we've never been and have always wanted to go
We had a blast in KC last year ...love me the midwest homeland
but tix will be tough to get so then I may have to sit this one out
I hope you're right.
I just find it hard to swallow that people who are "environmentalists" can hop on a plane so often and think nothing of it. The production of airline fuel is a very refinement heavy process that does have a lot of wastage and pollution.
I would be curious to know how their buses/trucks run if that is the case. Diesel burns very clean compared to gasoline, and i don't know what other alternative fuels they would use... I will say that ethanol made from foodstuffs is not a good thing... the technology is not refined enough for it to be good for the world. The amount of corn it takes to fill a converted semi tank once could feed thousands of people in Africa for a day, so is saving the environment more important than people's lives?
Good luck on St. Louis... I actually thought about making that trip from Texas, but unfortunately I've already committed to going to Canada to meet up with my brother in Toronto for Canada day weekend... one of our friends bands is going to take the national stage alongside of the Tragically Hip and Weezer, so we want to go show them our support (even though there will be like 80,000 people there anyway )
In the past I tried to do some searches about the fuel and yes I think it is the food based fuel.
I hope you enjoy your Toronto trip...we enjoyed PJ there and it is a beautiful city.
Safe travels

Well if their trucks/buses are using a foodstuff based fuel that's just as bad or worse in my opinion. The efficiency isn't there to support it yet. We will get it there someday, but not yet. The amount of ethanol based fuel it would have taken to drive across the country could have fed a large portion of the starving population of Africa for probably several days.
I will enjoy T.O thanks! I'm originally Canadian and have spent a few years of my life living in Toronto... lots of good friends and good times there... Plus the Tragically Hip on Canada Day with some of my friends opening up the stage in the afternoon? Going to be awesome times... sorry eddie/St. Louis...
so all in all....GIVE THE SOUTH A PROPER TOUR ... don't just come here for the big payday and run away again.
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.
this shit is almost as bad as calling jacksonville the biggest city in florida.
these places aren't really cities...they're sprawling wastelands that are next to impossible to navigate. the lack of public transit speaks volumes
houston can't hold chicago's jock
Say what you want about the lack of a public transit, I completely agree with you. Same for the lack of "city" feel. There are a lot of things I don't like about this place, but I need a job, and Houston had one for me that pays well.
However, it is definitely not impossible to navigate, Houston is very well laid out and planned, unlike most major US cities. And it doesn't matter if you consider this place a "wasteland", that doesn't change the fact that there are more people here than there are in Chicago.
but back to the point..... PLAY THE SOUTH!
I hear you brother. I wasn't trying to be a dick (sorry if I came off that way).
I hope you guys get the shows you want. I like to travel...I'd love to come down and visit you southern bastards. I'd love to see PJ and learn the real way to drink whiskey. In the meantime, if any of you are coming up for the EV shows (esp in philly)...let me know. I'd love to get messed up with you

I certainly don't post much, and I don't like complaining, but I'd really like to see something Pearl Jam related in the near future. I've seen PJ play in multiple state, but there's nothing like seeing a band you love in your home state. I wish I could travel far and spend tons of money on a band I love, but I just need something in my neck of the woods to make it feasible.
Glad I've got some help keeping this thing at the top! (although to be fair I really only started bumping around page 60....)
I was about to say! You know I've been bumping this one for awhile
