    nice standing ovation.

    he probably deserves it.

what kind of dopes go to Eagles games?

I watched the game on TV last night. It looked like him and McNabb had a disagreement and McNabb went to the coaches and made a cut-throat sign and said something. I dont think I saw Vick after that point and the offense suddenly was able to move the ball.

McNabb said he thought Vick's plays may have disrupted the rhythm of the offense and that the team needed to get back to basics.

McNabb was then asked if he motioned to offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg and the Eagles' coaches to stop running the plays with Vick (all told, Vick was inserted six times). Donovan, naturally, dodged the question with a joke.

"Yeah, I sat all of them down and I told them, ‘That’s it,’” McNabb said.

the offense was 10x better when they werent trying to force Vick in there. After seeing that and hearing a McNabb interview, I really think he told the coaches to knock it off with Vick.

the Eagles have a really nice offense. I dont think they need or should try to force gimmicks.

I agree. I mean, the Eagles scored the most points in franchise history last season and they have more weapons on offense this year, not even including Vick. But apparently Andy Reid didn't see it that way.

Reid was asked if he saw McNabb gesture. "That had nothing to do with Michael," Reid said. "You can ask McNabb. He was fine with it."

Reid didn't think the Vick plays were much of a problem.

“If you're going to use that a little bit, then you have to work it in there," Reid said. "That's what we're going to do as we go down the road here. I expect the guys to make that part of the rhythm and make it work. I don’t see that as what happened there.”

  • If I was Andy Reid, I would exlusively use the shotgun formation and have Westbrook behind center with Vick to his left and McNabb to his right. The ball could go to any one of three and would cause more chaos and confusion than anything that has ever been seen on an NFL football field before. When you think about all the options that gives you it really would be unstoppable.

i turned on sportscenter last night just as it was starting and they were in a tizzy about this game

which is bad enough but then they show the highlights (if you can call them that) and when vick entered the game they showed a couple fans in eagles jerseys standing up and applauding...classy

give me a break. the rest of the country was just waiting for riots to break out in the parking lot and for fans to throw shit at him on the field just so they could toss out the old "and these are the same people who threw snow balls at santa claus" routine.

the fans handled themselves with nothing but class last night and should be commended for it.

    come on.

you guys realize that was the first time vick played ball in 2 and a half years right? they were obviously trying to get his feet wet last night with some vanilla play calling.

i highly doubt that when the games count, they're gonna throw him out there 5 or 6 times in the first quarter. he'll touch the ball 7 or 8 times per game. maybe be on the field for 10 snaps or so. spread out over the whole game like that will be WAY more smooth than just putting him in there as much as possible for a quarter or so.

i will say that i would prefer them to use him more like they did on the play where he was lined up in the slot and donny pump faked to him, then turn around and hit mccoy on a screen that went for 6 yards (it was called back for a celek holding penalty though). you could tell the defense was on its heels and didn't quite know what to expect on that one. i

me too...but apparently there were anti-protesters there to protest any potential Vick protesters  ...so I suspect those were the people offereing the warm reception. Hopefully that won't last. I would also suspect that a lot of the fans who have very strong feelings against Vick decided to stay away from the game all together...so the fan population last night may have been a bit skewed. First thing I'm planning to do after I win the megamillions tonight is to buy the Eagles and get rid of Vick.

    I just don't get it.

How do you guys live your everyday lives knowing that there are people who abuse animals and get away with it? I mean, regular people do it, get caught, get in trouble and go back to their lives...if you KNEW who all of these people were, what would you do??

Just because Vick is high profile, is it worse than all the regular joe's who get caught???? I'm so sick of people saying that he shouldn't play or whatever...so, if I abuse a dog, get caught, and pay the price, should I NOT be allowed to be a travel agent ever again?????????

he paid his dues for his crime. he should be allowed to play. i'm not saying what he did was right (because it definitely WAS NOT), but he did his time. he's trying to move on...maybe we should do the same.

It is pretty hard knowing that lots of people are out there doing terrible things. Unfortunately I work with people every day who have had terrible things done to them...and often to their pets as well. So that's how I live with it, by trying to help people and their loved ones (pets included) heal from victimizations. That and sticking to my values no matter who the perpetrator is that is caught. And it helps to know that my sister-in-law helps rescued animals. Won't save them all...but it's one little piece of the solution that we can be a part of. Still sickens me any time I hear about the abuse of an animal or person. Hopefully it always will.

I guess it depends on the job. If I abused an animal and was caught, in addition to serving jail time and paying fines, I would also lose my professional license and never be able to work in my field again. Not sure why this wouldn't apply to job with so much privilege.

I certainly agree that it's terrible--I'm not arguing that it isn't. My sister in law also rescues dogs and trains them to be therapy dogs--which obviously is a great thing!

My argument is to how people are reacting to THIS situation...I think the problem is Vick's JOB--he has a very desirable, high paying and high profile job, so for some reason people think he's worse than other idiots that do this crap...ALL jobs have those things that you can't do...like, if i charged my clients directly and didn't give my agency commission, I would not be able to work in my field....but Vick's job lets him back in the league and people don't think that should be allowed.

I don't think he's any worse or any better than all those idiots. I just think people are reacting to this situation (myself included) because it is high profile. There are so many incidents that never make it to the news, but the ones that do are the ones we react to (not just for animal abuse, but domestic violence, sexual assaults,DUIs etc), and if the incident involves a public figure people react even more. For better or worse he is an example - he's a representation of all those other perpetrators that we never hear about. He's got no one to blame for being in that situation but himself.

I think that some people can just separate the crime from the football and others can't. I just can't. Not saying it's good or bad. I can't cheer for him or the team he plays for or be part of putting money in his pocket that he's so horribly misused before. It's a career that puts people in the position of being a role model and earning a lot of money and I just have an issue with him being able to return to a career of privilege. I know others disagree and I respect that.

I understand your points--They are well said without being condescending or disrespectful...you're making valid points and can back them up. I agree with pretty much all of them...although I'll continue to support my team, but I do understand why you won't.

I like what the groups in Philly are doing. They are using the publicity, but saying they arent protesting Vick... they are trying to just raise money and awareness for dogs who have been rescued from similar operations... waaaaay more effective than protesting in the parking lot at a football game. kudos to them.

I think Vick should have been allowed in the NFL. But I still cant understand why people would give him a standing ovation. He aint done shit yet. Id like to see him put a little of those millions where his mouth is and show how regretful he truly is....

agreed. perhaps a standing O was too much. like i said before though, i think the rest of the country was just waiting for the things to get ugly to validate the whole "philly fans are the worst" thing. it's interesting that the exact opposite happened and people are still upset.
