That's right. FIRST conceal your identity... THEN rape a member of the fanbase for a $1,600 profit.

Wow guys well I can honestly say I wasn't expecting to start my lunch break today with an inbox full of angry messages accusing me of thievery. I apologize if anyone has taken offense to the "buy it now price" I put on the ticket. Not sure if anyone noticed but there was a "best offer" option. Also I did not make any effort to advertise my listing on here. My original post was made way before I came to the conclusion I'd have to sell it. My whole intention in putting such a high buy it now price was to help pay for the rest of the tour like others on this board suggested I do. With money being extremely tight right now I found that to be a great option. Anyway I'm not posting this with anger or the intention to finger point but merely just to defend myself. I'm not a fan of contention in any way, shape, or form. Anyway he goes...
I've been trying to make a deal with one of the members off this board for the ticket for the last couple days. He told me the most he could give me cash would be $120 but he'd be willing to trade a few posters for it as well. So after talking to him on the phone we made a deal. He was suppose to make the ebay offer sometime tomorrow night but with an inbox full of angry/hateful messages I texted him to see if he could do it sooner (seeing that my listing was offending so many people) and he agreed.
Anyway thats that. Don't feel anymore obligation to have to explain myself anymore than that. I can say I'm a bit disappointed on some of the things that have been said about me. I would hope people might ask questions before they run to make conclusions or judgements. I love this band and am truly bummed I can't attended that show. But I'm glad someone who shares my same passion can. Again sorry if I offended anyone that wasn't my intention.

No need to explain yourself to the kissass"s and rats that will still think they are right

Kinda funny how there is always a witchunt for people selling tickets but never for posters or merch

What do you mean? I made a whole thread about poster-flipping and comparing it to ticket-flipping.

    Here it is: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=102543

If I had the time to be involved in that thread discussion, I would have agreed with you.

And I sold some of my posters for face value when I didn't have the money and needed money to prevent a water shut off. I was offered for way more but I still didn't do it and didn't feel right. It was quite tempting, yes.

What I am saying is that I learned and got from this PJ community that everyone looks out for each other and help each other, inspired by the band and fairness is the game here.... that's why I love it here!

But it's not okay to hold others accountable? I don't get that.

Moreover, I've said before that I've once fought with myself on selling my benayora hall LPs that I won from Ten Club's auction and even tried to justify myself by saying that I was selling it for "face value" which is the amount I paid for...but I realized that I chose to bid the amount and willing to pay that much for the cause I was supporting.

I also thought I'd be better willing to give up my 10c member because of "NO RESALE" and would be honest about it if I went ahead with it. I also fully was expecting flaming on the board and would not even try to defend myself and would agree that I should be booted out.

I finally felt better knowing that it would not be fair to put financial burden on another for wanting my BH so much that they would go far in buying it. That helped me in making my decision.

All because of how PJ community is influenced - looking out and helping each other out and being fair.

The day everyone is okay with selling their stuff for above face value and is only looking out for themselves and their own personal interests.... will be the day I leave here.

    Well put.

I also think that as far as ticket buying and poster buying goes, when people buy a poster to re-sell it for higher, or when they buy a tickets and re-sell it for higher, they are taking it away from someone who wanted to experience the art of it.

Now, at my heart I am a capitalist and a business owner. My job is to buy at the lowest price possible and sell for the highest price possible. But I never let that conflict with how the band originally led us in the TM fight, and in the anti-scalper fight. I pay full price for every album I have of theirs, and if I find myself with an extra ticket, I don't charge extra to find a new home for it.

When you buy a ticket or poster that you are not "consuming" yourself, you are helping to create the shortage, and ultimately screwing someone else from enjoying it at it's fair original price. Just because something is legal doesn't make it right.

I would love it if PJ released posters (or even tickets) nowadays, to help deflate the price by flooding the market. That way, those who bought something just to enjoy it will still do so, and the only people screwed are the flippers and scalpers. This seemed to be what happened with the EV tickets that kept trickling out. It seemed no one could re-sell their tickets for face, let alone above face.

You sound like my mother! My mother runs her own business and her competitor was doing everything to steal her customers away... it was quite a challenge for my mother because she's honest too. But in the long run, karma bit her competitor in the ass and it folded with FBI all over the place.

But mom is still struggling though... because she is very sensitive in where the items are coming from/shipping from... and she'd pay the price for it, especially when the business is slow.

But the customers know it and come back for more because they trust mom... and spread the word. Mom charges items at high prices like you do but she offers quality service too to compensate for that so customers come back. She stays there longer too... even to consult customers after hours.

This is where I learned from - my mom raising me all my life to be honest and hold myself accountable. It is not easy in this world and I've made many enemies along the way, even at work where I ended up leaving because it drove me crazy that things were so wrong or people being afraid because of their jobs...and I couldn't do anything about it. So I know the reality out there... nothing I can do to stop this madness. But that still doesn't stop me from trying, though. I do not give up easily and that can be a bad thing about me because it does drive me crazy at times (and for others, too!). Sometimes I have to pull wool over my own eyes just for the comfort... for a while, that is. I must sound insane, don't I? I know.

Yup. But Ten Club is really doing their damnest to make it work and making us happy. I personally hold Ten Club to be the closest corporation that I'd love to see all to follow suit.

It isn't easy, I realize that...

I remember EV saying something like (I wish I remembered where I read that): "It's ok to make profit as long as you are not hurting the land or culture". In regards to running a business, that is. That does NOT apply to scalpers/flippers. :P

Right on, Mr. Vedder.... or should I call him The Dude? I gotta see that movie...

She runs a metaphysical store. She's also a Reiki Master/Teacher and offers readings, classes, drum circles, etc...

I used to make fun of her when she collected all sorts of stones around her house, but I took a closer look and it's pretty interesting...even took a liking to Reiki (haven't gotten a hang of it yet, but my kids are learning fast and have applied them) and I am very interested in the Indian rituals. :P I've been meaning to sign up or asking to join them... *jots down on list*

who are you or anyone else that makes you think your opinion or condoning of his actions matters? by no means is this a personal attack..it's more of a general observation. this guy is doing what he wants to do with something HE purchased. you can complain about how that's not right and how he shouldn't take advantage of the pearl jam fan base, but isn't it a bit arrogant to think what you think actually matters? he's not doing anyone physical harm. he's not forcing anyone to do anything they don't want to do. he made an offer. someone found the price he was asking to be within reason and took it. it's easy to sit there behind your keyboard and send PMs about thievery..i mean really..how childish is that? a little bitter are we? jealous?

the pretense and arrogant attitudes of some people here amaze me. get a clue and focus your energy on something else. something that actually matters.

I still can't condone your actions - above face value is above face value - but it definitely lessens the blow. I apologize if my words were deemed venomous in any way, and am glad that some lucky guy is getting this ticket for $120 and some posters - rather than $1700! Maybe next time it'll be face!

who are you or anyone else that makes you think your opinion or condoning of his actions matters? by no means is this a personal attack..it's more of a general observation. this guy is doing what he wants to do with something HE purchased. you can complain about how that's not right and how he shouldn't take advantage of the pearl jam fan base, but isn't it a bit arrogant to think what you think actually matters? he's not doing anyone physical harm. he's not forcing anyone to do anything they don't want to do. he made an offer. someone found the price he was asking to be within reason and took it. it's easy to sit there behind your keyboard and send PMs about thievery..i mean really..how childish is that? a little bitter are we? jealous?

the pretense and arrogant attitudes of some people here amaze me. get a clue and focus your energy on something else. something that actually matters.
I'm sorry you read that as a 'holier than thou' complex, which I feel (and hope) I don't have... I have no bitterness, nor jealousy (jealous of what :? ), aimed in mitch's direction.. the only reason I posted what I did (and I presume this is the reason others who posted similar things did so) was in hopes that he will, in the future, try and do what so many on here do, and offer tickets up at face value. Had I used another word besides 'condone' would we be having this discussion? I offered up an opinion - which is what most posts on here are.
Regarding where I should be focusing my energy - this post, and the one you responded to, took very little of my energy, and I'm glad I spent it there. Somewhere that actually mattered in my opinion.

I didn't mind what you wrote benjs. PJ have long been against scalping, and obviously that makes it a relevant topic to discuss opinions on. You did good.

Yep! Regarding secondary markets of anything, there's no one to blame for the escalating prices but the fan base as a whole.

It's pretty easy to rip this guy for trying to make a profit on this ticket when you are not the one who is in posession of it.

If I had a front row ticket in hand for a show I couldnt attend, it would be almost impossible for me not to think of the $$ I could make by selling it to help pay off some bills, student loans, etc...

I dont blame Mitch one bit for trying to make some $ off the ticket. It's the society we live in. He's got something people want and he could sell it for a shitload of $. I know PJ is against scalping and all that, but its going to happen regardless. The fact that people go on witch hunts to track someone down for scalping is pretty sad. Does getting someone kicked out of a fan club really help someone sleep at night?

I respectfully disagree with you, Indiferrence71.

I would fully expect backlash from the PJ community if I did exactly what he did. And that includes getting kicked out of the fan club, yes.

But if I were in his position right now - no, I wouldn't do what he did - even in the worst financial situation, which I am in.

We're two months behind on the house, we've filed bankruptcy since hubby got laid off with FOUR kids... and I've got student loans to pay off that the bankruptcy law would not cover...the list goes on.

That said, would I even consider selling my Hatch poster for the highest value?

Oh oops.... I haven't told anyone here... it's my little secret.

But fuck it... I"ll share it with you all here.

It's fucking signed by Eddie Vedder himself.

Yup, I've got a signed Hatch poster and am I even in a position to think about how much I could get out of that poster?

Believe it or not... no. I look forward to the day I can get it framed properly.

It means something to me... not money-wise.

And I think it's sad that the PJ community wouldn't do anything to stop this behavior...but to enable that behavior.

    Sad, really.

benjs - you did good, too. I like it when people try to point things out without coming out like they think they are better or above other people. I don't even think I'm above Snoopy at all. I'm just pissed at him for not being honest and he has not owned up to what he did by apologizing for what he did. He's still doing it and I'm still not supporting that.

I know I do get misinterpreted and perceived that way, but it is not my intention to come off that way AT ALL. I just am not always good at wording, unfortunately.

Nice try on turning it around on us... quite the opposite, metsfan, on what we are doing here.

Hey you're always at the forfront of the witchunt so I'm really not turning it around on anyone really. They guy was funding his tour to SEE pearl jam and was going off on an idea that another board member suggested.

Ill be selling my holday singles, yes every single one that's out there. Ill save you the withchunt iammine. Just look for a ebay seller with the name metsfan531 in the next couple days. See I just did half your battle on your crusade of ratting out a flipper. Also I might be selling 98 tour soccer jersey for 500 bucks.

This wasn't a 10c ticket. This was a TM ticket. So he really had every right to Ebay it. It's time to get off the horse for some of us.

That's because how I strongly feel about it... doesn't mean I am always on ebay watching PJ fans. Surprise, surprise...

As long as you are honest about it and willingness for the possibility of getting kicked out of the fan club, that's entirely your decision, metsfan.

You'd be settling example to the rest that we can do whatever we want, at the expense of others.

And no, I am not interested in watching you...since you are already honest about it and I appreciate that.

Seems we disagree on this one. My intentions are only to better this place, but clearly my intent is different than what you're perceiving my goal is. I'm sincere when I say I have no desire to belittle someone, or to make someone feel like a piece of shit - I just disagree with his act. By all means, if you've got to throw up - better out than in!
