The Philly accent is a hidden secret.  Boston takes the cake, but Philly ain't that far behind

Philly definitely has a unique accent. My grandparents lived there so I visited quite a bit as a kid. Baltimore also has a distinctive accent. I grew up in Maryland, but near DC. Baltimore is a much different accent than what I grew up with.

No condiments on a cheesesteak, ketchup is possibly allowed in small amounts. Mayo is legal on chicken cheesesteaks tho. Thems the rules.
This morning, I saw someone post a picture on twitter of mustard on his cheesesteak.
Mustard - NO. But if I said I liked a bit of steak sauce on my cheesesteak would the mocking begin :)

    You glow, girl.

Philly and Baltimore are definitely more cousins than with NYC or Boston. The accents aren't that far off from one another. Long on the ohhhhhhs.

Although this cheesesteak looks like poop, I did happen to see this place pop up on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives a couple days ago. It looks like an okay place after further review. I'd go there if I lived nearby.

This one in the picture, though? Gotta be a user error, Wob.

Trying to eat better lately, but I couldn’t resist the special at Poe’s this weekend:

italian style roast pork with homemade charred pineapple salsa and house BBQ creme fraiche

    I'd eat that.

My hot take anymore on South Philly and cheesesteaks, roast pork, pizza, stromboli, etc etc is that it's great and all. but  Mexican has overtaken Italian for the best cultural cuisine down here.

Outside of SPB, which places would you most recommend?

Los Gallos (personal fave), Tres Jalapenos, El Rancho Viejo, Puyero (though it's Venezuelan, still awesome), El Sarape, basically any Mexican joint on 9th Street (Tortilleria San Roman for fresh tortillas), Guisados Don Roman.

But if I'm picking two it's Los Gallos and then Rancho Viejo. Just sucks because the best part is the BYO aspect. Los Gallos, el pastor tacos if you can't make up your mind.

A little different style but mole poblano and blue corn are also good. Love los gallos and el rancho. Tamalex for tamales. The truck on Washington.

Tres jalapeños has been my delivery go to for a decade plus now

I haven’t had a ton of Mexican since I’ve moved here but I did have Blue Corn one day and it was awesome. I got Al Pastor tacos with pineapple and I might say they’re the best tacos I’ve ever had.

Very good. I flicked some of the salsa off here and there though.

I can’t keep up with the amount of amazing Mediterranean places within a mile radius of me here in the fishtown/No Libs area.

See I haven’t even tried either of those places but I’ve heard great things. We get Apricot Stone pretty often and we’ve also had Pita Chip recently which I might have liked even more but it’s a little farther away. But it seems like every time we talk to anyone about the local food scene they mention a different Mediterranean place that I’ve never heard of and I google it to find awesome reviews.
