3 way tie between the Beatles, PJ and My Morning Jacket. I grew up listening to my moms beatles records. PJ changed my life when i was 15 and MMJ is too beautiful to describe.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

Yes, by far. And it's not a stupid question. You can easily be on here and be a fan without them being your fave band of all-time.

Pearl Jam is the one band I really try to see whenever they are close by . . and I always get nervous/anxious/excited when I know I'm going to see them . . . that's a sign that I love them as I have never had those feelings for any other concert I've been to . . . . anytime I read something about them, see something about them or hear something about them I get all excited . . .

The Tragically Hip and Pilot Speed are probably my next two fave bands . . . .

I'm not locking myself into a feeling - I can't compare Pearl Jam to the Who, or the Beatles, or Beethoven, or anyone who isn't Pearl Jam. All the bands I've grown to love, there have been a time and a place for them all for me.. sometimes the mood isn't right for Pearl Jam for me, and I find pleasure in Phish, Eric Clapton, Dylan, The Beatles, Beethoven, you name it.. but pick a favourite? I couldn't.

Yes, they definitely are my favorite band. :D

Followed by The Who / The Doors / Rush and recently really started appreciating The Cure.

They used to be, but I'm not so sure anymore. I think I prefer the Tragically Hip... their catalogue is more consistent. NIN is another that's creeping up on PJ.

I'm also pretty huge on Hold Steady and KoL lately. I don't think I really have favorite bands anymore.

If that is aimed at me, I have already said that they are.

Placebo, Jeff Buckley, Faith No More, Soundgarden, Tool and Led Zep are others that I love, but PJ are streets ahead my fave.

For a while I really enjoyed the Tragically Hip... seeing them in concert unfortunately took that away from me. I was disappointed by their lack of energy, Gord Downey's beyond unusual use of a sweaty rag (which started out clean, and ended up drenched - and in the hands of some 'lucky fan') as a stage prop, and how each song seemed to me nearly identical to the next. But, that's music! Totally subjective.

Interesting. Was that their most recent tour? Gord's always had odd stage antics like that... kind of an acquired taste. The rag thing wasn't really noticeable to me, but the band was on fire this most recent tour. That said, if you don't REALLY know their back catalogue, I can see how the songs would blend together. My gf had the same reaction, though she loved the show overall. But I've heard the same thing said about PJ by people that don't know their catalogue all that well.
  • Red Hot Chili Peppers would be my favorite with Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins and Jimi right behind in no particular order.

They're my favorite band. I think higher of Zeppelin, The Beatles and Pink Floyd.....but as far as bands who existed in my lifetime, it's totally Pearl Jam.

That's fair! And yes, I've definitely heard that said about Pearl Jam as well. It was this tour, at one of the five Massey Hall shows in Toronto. In regards to the band - I wasn't impressed by them at all either! Totally uninvolved.. keeping to themselves, no interaction between each other.. I'll leave it at that at the risk of this becoming a rant.
