Crowd surf on my head you moron and see what happens. We're 30+ now. You idiots. Or... is it just Canadians that still do this stupid shit?

As far as "being prepared"... ummm... Bonnaroo didn't have this idiocy and I venture to bet that it was much larger a festival. People weren;t even retards during Metallica.

Anyway, I love it, open a gap, grab his clothes, and slam his head into the ground as best you can. That's the best remedy.

    signed,
    the littlest crowd surfer (r.i.p.)

I honestly believe this is a rarity.. I go to lots of shows in Canada.... crowds are usually low key. Not sure what was happenin at this Festival. People were probably just too drunk... :)

This festivals mistake was not having that middle of the crowd barricade that all festivals are doing now. It's a very smart and useful safety measure. I'm surprised that wasn't a requirement by PJ management.

You're referring to "T Barricade". It breaks up the crowd so no deadly pressure builds up for the people up front from the people behind them, and it keeps the crowd from swaying way off left or right. If it was a huge crowd, I'm surprised too if the band didn't use that. From the video, it seems the people in front had plenty of room to move though. Those of us who were at Randall's in '96 will recall even with the T barricade that the pressure up front was still pretty intense, and not much room to maneuver.
ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you. :)

    agreed. :(

I love Canada. I love being Canadian. But Canadian concert goers are often douches. Either too obnoxious or too quiet.

(Although, Buffalo fans are f'in annoying too.)

ed said he loved the buffalo crowd saying something like "who knew buffalo could be so beautiful"

and most canadians live so close to the boarder for a reason...

Yes, economic purposes :).. plus it's warmer

I was actually referring to Buffalo fans in general... Sabres games, and other concerts... PJ in Buffalo WAS beautiful.

I hope they play The Fixer 12 consecutive times at whatever show you go to.

Hey, *I* think festivals suck. YOU can think whatever you want. If that video looked like your idea of a fun Pearl Jam concert, then go for it. I'll skip it. Bonnaroo did sound pretty awesome, great bootleg, great setlist. But music comes second for the majority of people at those festivals. They're there for some bands and not others. I'd rather not be stuck in the back of a field surrounded by smelly stoners talking at the top of their lungs over my favorite Pearl Jam songs. No offense to smelly stoners...you guys have your charm. :) "fans" who really only know a handful of songs and are there to mosh, bodysurf, and be annoying are not my idea of a fun battle in order to try to enjoy a concert by my favorite band. Thanks anyway. It's not 1992 anymore. Thank god!!!

Plus, having a picture of a black man in white-face as your avatar is NOT cool. So your opinion matters about "this much." Yeah, I get it, it's the Joker, ha ha, HILARIOUS. It's still not cool. If there are any black people on this board, you should ask them what they think of that.

Take a shot at Calgary anytime! I do not care, I am Saskatchewan guy so I am used to constant "comments"...lol.

Also regardless if these dudes were actually d-bags or just appeared to be d-bags the most important thing is that PJ may have picked up some new fans. I was reading a few Calgary orientated message boards where people were talking about how this was the best concernt they have seen in their life (first time show go-er's to boot). So that is a good thing for the band.

One positive thing about the crowd is that they rocked out to the "hits" and to the lesser known songs so I need to give them props for that.

 ya, I've always noticed that Calgary seems to have an awful lot of 'pretty' guys....but just as many pretty girls, so I guess it balances out. s'ok, if this was an Edmonton show, we'd all prob be laughing at mullets and leather ball caps  I stopped taking shots at Sask after spending time in Saskatoon in 05...loved it there! well, ok...I still take shots at Saskatchewan, but not as many ;)
You're absolutely right about the new fan aspect of festivals. The elitist attitude of much of the PJ fanbase is pretty universally recognized. WE are known as douches to casual fans worldwide. Wonder why?

....and fanch has got to have a 'stuff white people like' link that's geared towards a white man getting offended over something trivial, on behalf of black people. like....wow. some of the concerned citizens around here can bitch about anything.

    i reaaally dig the fixer.
and by the way .. in an interview jeff said something like "there's this song called the fixer that i'm really digging right now". i'd say your theory is definitely wrong. maybe you just don't like it.

no, i don't believe that. i think he was just having a bit of fun with the interviewer. come on, jeff knows better...

That video is a great example of why PJ shows should not be GA... those douchebags need to be confined to their seats.

    Couldn't agree more!

Half of those assholes near the stage weren't even watching! WTF is that?!?!

And the other half was looking over his/her shoulder making sure nobody was going to clock 'em in the back of the head.

Hmmmm....Sorry if this has been posted already in the thread...(to lazy to look through it)....sounds like they are playing it down a whole step from the studio recording. Still sounds great in that key... Very similar to what they started doing w/Life Wasted. Looking forward to hearing this live.... :D

I still can´t understand why so many hate GA, even after watching this video. Yes, it might distract your view from the stage because of all whats going on your surroundings. But moshing is amazing. Of course, there will always be somebody shoving abrubtly against you, don´t blame him/her. Blame the dealer who sold him/her the dope. Or blame it on alchohol.

If you are alone, it probably will suck for you. But if you are w/ friends. It kicks ass! Jumping together, etc. You can´t top that. IT IS A ROCK CONCERT. When I went with my little brother to see a rock show, I sat at the back in the stairs and enjoyed it. In other words if you don´t like it then stay away as far from the moshpit. Easy.
