does anyone know anything at all yet about balcony 1 and why nothing has shown up for that?

    can we still hope?
  • pdalowskypdalowsky Doncaster,UK Posts: 15,096
I rang the venue, as far as she knew balcony 1 has been sold already, seems odd to me. Havent seen one sold or for sale anywhere. She says its definitely sold out fully, and there were no more tickets and no info at all was being given to her that there would be a further release nearer the date. She sounded genuine.

I might ring ticketweb and see if I can bully them into telling me more, I might as well totally waste my week.

Hi. I'm still in need of a ticket and agree that should only be one per person [although 2 would have been lovely]. Thanks so much for doing this and in such a fair way. I very much think that Ames_downstroke should automatically get the 1st spare ticket.

So frustrating! missed out on astoria too. would love to see them in such a small venue.

    ebay and things like http://www.getmein.com/tickets/pearl-ja ... 43170.html
make me mad!! how can this be endorsed by ticketmaster! is just glorified touting.

    anyway, thanks again.

so I rang ticketweb, and they basically said they had no idea if balcony 1 would be sold or if its being left empty!!!! I dont see the first balcony being empty and then the two behind being full.

    Theres something fishy here

    Hi guys.

We still don't have nearly enough spares involved. I have talked to those who have said they have spares and have been added to the list, but some are not even 100% that they will be able to sell a spare via this system. So please, ANY fans out there with spare tickets, consider selling them to a fan in need on here.

Ames I know how ye feel about this we all do, I've been scanning this site to see if there were any spares, maybe i'm looking in the wrong areas I dunno...

If there are more spares (and i'd say there are some people without the green disease as it were) how do we get them in here?
  • pdalowskypdalowsky Doncaster,UK Posts: 15,096
ITB are very stern with their response

There are no more tickets for sale at this venue, it is sold out. There will be no more tickets available. They are sold out.

and as to why tickets are not available for sale for this balcony on the internet..

'there are other ways of selling tickets other than the internet'....a direct quote. What does this mean?

She mentioned there are record people and industry people with tickets reserved, and balcony one would NOT be made available elsewhere.

    another big bastard!!!!
  • I caught this a bit too late as I was going to say, as ex/semi industry myself I have been trying to find out about missing tickets :-) Anyhoo I have mailed someone there who will be in the know, but I do not know what kind of response I am going to get! :-) Probably the same as you received pdlowsky above I expect :-)

I was told yesterday by a friend in the industry that industry often have to pay for these things now. Even when I was still getting guest list etc I had to make a contribution. However it could be that for promotional reasons, many seats are for industry - this happens for a showcase if a band need new publishing, new label or new booking - or indeed anything. If seats have been reserved for that purpose, then that is fair enough as a band needs to work and earn money and showcasing is actually how they attract / decide upon new industry deals and colleagues. Also, as someone who worked very hard in the industry on my acts, it was also nice to get a seat at their shows occasionally so it is fair that industry who have worked on Pearl Jam's records, promo etc get to see the band too. Oh - and dont forget - most industry are massive music heads, bigger than you can imagine. PJ have plenty of fans in the industry - often more passionate than you would expect. When I first worked for Epic / CBS who they were on over in the 90's, the place was filled with die-hard PJ fans. It's kind of why you work in the industry in the first place. I'm not sticking up for giving out a whole balcony to industry, for free, believe me, but industry are not *all* bad :-) Having been on both sides of the arguement, I can tell you that most people think industry peeps have a ball - free records, free gigs etc - it's really not as much like that as people think. It's long hours, and you work with ALOT of assholes, believe me! Most people do it for their love of music, in my case I did it because I loved certain acts and bands and that was the perk. You can't always get free tickets or CDs - I was often told "no" when certain acts toured or albums came out - and unless you are up at the top of the ladder, it's hard work, crap pay and very, very cut throat :) Hence why I left :-)

I'm 100% against it if they HAVE allocated so many tickets to freeloaders and hangers on (which does happen) but I can also understand why industry will have got tickets for this, if they actually have. It's probably one of the few perks that the people who do marketing / press / sales for the band in the UK actually get :)
  • p.s other ways of ticket selling other than the net - could be by phone? Also, could be an internal mail offer around relevant music industry companies offering an allocated amount for sale to industry? I have seen that happen a few times and it's at the same price as everyone else has to pay :)

    Agreed Goddess...
I don't know what's so hard about just having a fan club event. Sure they could hire the venue and make it a 10c affair. It frustrates me that the 'fans ticket exchange' Seatwave is selling a ticket for £200ish. Only a handful of 10c tickets were available. I bet half the people at the gig can only name two or three PJ albums.
    :D Rock on!!!! :D
Seen Pearl Jam 4 times in London, once in Manchester, as well as an Eddie show at Hammersmith.
  • I really do think there must be some way to get a fan club only gig going - other acts do it. My sister went to a (lord knows why) George Michael fan club only event and that was a raging success apparently...!

I do think though if you are a fan, you are a fan, if you don't have all the albums then that's ok - you might not like one of them. It took me years to like Vs as I was so passionate about Ten :-) BUT I know what you mean - it's hardly fair that people might only go along just on the basis of thinking PJ might a good laugh when there are so many people who love the band and have followed for years. A friend of mine got 02 tickets when I couldn't and said the person going with her 'had never heard of them but thought it would be a laugh'. A laugh?? I can't tell you what I said in return but you can imagine!!

BUT there is always the possibility that peeps might go along who aren't familiar with the band but who will become fans as a result of the show....obviously on the inside I'm thinking 'sod off and let US have the seats' but on the outside, it's good if they can get new fans - which is not always easy for an established act :)
  • Oh god me again. Sorry folks, rabbiting away.

I just chanced to look at Play.com tickets (I forgot about them) and they have O2 and MEN tickets on there plus a box awaiting sellers of SBE - might be worth keeping an eye to see if any come up...

You can take my name off the list now......I've just bought a ticket from getmein, I didn't like doing it and it cost me £237.50 but I just can't miss the gig.

this is quite insightful, I dont mind industry getting them, hell thats their job, they work hard like you say.

Its the touts that really get me, and more than anything how they get their filthy little retched hands on them
  • Could you take me off the list please. Managed to get one level 3 ticket yesterday.

Me too - drives you mental doesn't it? I am convinced some sort of backhand deal goes on where the relevant party hands them over early and gets a cut of the final sale price...

    Hi,

    Good luck everyone

  • I just spoke to a woman at Ticket Web and she told me that they are considering keeping a close eye on the people who buy tickets for every event and list them as suspected touts - based on people buying PJ tix one day and some R'n'B rubbish and other acts that are so far from each other.

Let's hope that stops people paying £250+ for Tickets! I can understand the need to see this gig, but really guys, this is just encouraging the touts to keep going because they know the desperate people will pay for it.

I saw a pair of tix for SBE on ebay at £580 with an hour to go! That is INSANE!

    eh...say what now?

He wants to be on the spares list.
  • Really sorry guys, but we already advised a few times that the spares list closed at 9am yesterday....
  • Hi guys. First post is updated.

Really sorry to all of those who were not added to the list. We really did try to make this as fair as possible for all those involved. Unfortunately that means some fans were going to end up disappointed, I really am sorry and hope you get tickets through other means.

Confirming again that I still need a ticket.

    Cheers
  • Someone said I should post this in this thread:

"This is bizarre! I just got home and opened firefox which still had the hmv ticket window open as a tab. Up popped window to buy two level 3 tickets. Clicked 2, put in cc details and all went through fine.
Just received email confirming ticket sale:

    2 tickets @ £40.00 + £4.00 Payment Processing Fee - Standard
    Level 3 Unreserved Seats

So HMV are still selling tickets at 9.20 PM on Friday. What is going on!?"

Maybe everyone should retry their HMV presale link??? Maybe I havent got a ticket at all but it does seem to be a proper email from HMV. Makes no sense!

If more spares come up, I think its only fair to exclude those people whose names are already in the lottery....start a new one for those who missed the 9am deadline, I say!
