For those complaining about ticket prices

Question...
how much more money do you earn now compared to what you did 6 years ago, or 10 years ago???
How much more has your cost of living gone up in this time??? Gas food etc???
prices go up! deal with it. i earn an ok wage, and how i see it is that i am shelling out no more than 4 hours work after tax to see a show! i am happy with that. it is not fucking 1994 any more, get with the times!
And see my earlier post about ticket prices in other countries and see how well you get it! With cheap enough flights, i only works out maybe $2 or 300 to do 10 shows in the US rather than 10 shows down here in Australia. that is no joke!!!
Any arena act here you are looking at a minumum of $100 AUD - about $80 USD
Pink, love her or hate her SOLD OUT A 58 ARENA SHOW TOUR!!! in Australia that is MASSIVE, cheapest tickets $100 AUD upto $130 AUD 58 shows in a country of 20 million, and where a big arena tour would be 10 shows across the country. we deal with these prices, they are the norm.
the other thing to take into account with some of the cheaper arena prices that have been thrown around here are, how long do they play for? do they play for 2-2.5 hours night after night? are they any good live, are they better than pj live???? Do they give as much money to charity as pj??????
if you dont like the prices, then dont pay them, dont go to the show! simple!2003 - Sydney x3,2006 - Reading Festival,2007 - Katowice, London, Nijmegen, Rock Werchter,2008 - MSG x2, Hartford, Mansfield x2, Beacon Theater,2009 - Melbourne, Sydney,2010 - I watched it go to fire!2011 - EV Brisbane x3, Newcastle, Sydney x3,2012 - Manchester x 2, Amsterdam x2, Prague, Berlin x2, Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen,2014 - Sydney, EV Sydney x3

how does Radiohead manage to give their CD away, and still keep tickets around $50? NIN did it too. I'd even argue that as of right now, Radiohead is even more relevant than Pearl Jam so you could see if they were charging $83 a ticket- but they don't. I guess they don't need to be paid all that much, they make a ton of money as it is, and do it because they love it and not get paid. I loved when Pearl Jam was like that.
good point.thunderDAN wrote:plus, I kind of think it's a dick move to charge more for tickets than you ever have in your whole career when you know that the nation is struggling with job loss and fear of job loss. .
another good point. lol!
i already said this but i'll say it again........there's other ways for bands to make money without setting ticket prices high.Wolf At Bay wrote:The big question is: Is there anything we can do? Or should do?
Should we all send emails to the tenclub saying ticket prices are too high?
Who knows, even if they don't lower prices on future shows, maybe it would at least draw out an official response.
screw writting. stop buying tickets! boycott
_______________
I don’t quite get this supply and demand thing. Concert tickets are not like gas. There’s a set number seats in a venue. The number of seats is not going to change.
When it comes to tickets, supply and demand means ‘how much will these dumb people be willing to fork out?’ Ticket prices will keep growing because people WILL fork out anything. TM knows this……they aren’t dumb. What’s dumb is people are willing to buy these outrageously priced tickets. So keep feeding the beast people!

Compare them to a similarly minded band like Radiohead and PJ's prices are absurd.

Maybe Radiohead and NIN charge less for their tickets because both bands suck.
Just my opinion
Lets face it - basically every ticket to a concert is overpriced today. IM not going to complain with the prices for this tour because i dont think they are overpriced when compared to the bulk of other concerts in todays market - excluding of course local club shows that are often around 20 bucks. Do I wish PJ tickets were cheaper? Absolutely - DO I wish I didnt have to pay so much for gas and over 4 dollars for a gallon of milk? Absolutely.
The concept that they should charge less because of the economy is stupid - nothing else has gone down in price because of the economy. IF anything a lot of things have increased as companies try to stay afloat.0 -

No, I'm not in high school. I'm just saying that for those that are, that's a lot of money. But when I was in high school, I, like you, made minimum wage and "made it work getting concert tickets" because Pearl Jam tickets were $30 back then.2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea. Fucking ignorant, elitist bullshit. I make more than enough to pay for the tickets these days. In fact, I didn't even give it too much of a thought when they raised the prices, but then again I'm not a dad working at a gas station and trying to bring my son to a show either. When it costs less to see Springsteen in the same arena, for more than half the seats, I call bullshit.
Buh, buh, buh, their teh bestest, OMG they play for 2.5hours. Radiohead suxors. Fuck that. It's bullshit and you know it. Fucking big show, pyrotechnic, money-grubbing Metallica tickets are less.
And I know, before you say well don't go to the shows then, it's not a black and white issue. I love this band and I will still enjoy their music and most of what they stand for, I will still go to the shows, I will still buy their music, but I will also think that on the topic of ticket prices they are full of shit. Shades of gray.
I have no problem telling good friends and loved ones they're full of shit when they are. In this case, my favorite band is.
It's not that the times have changed, it's that the principles have.

I move frequently, so I cannot speak to a number of items, but I can tell you that my property taxes on my current home have gone up about 40% in four years. The television bill is much higher now than it was when I signed up for DirecTV seven or eight years ago. The price of heating oil doubled in two or three years, and I believe the cost of natural gas has skyrocketed, too.All those who seek to destroy the liberties of a democratic nation ought to know that war is the surest and shortest means to accomplish it.0 -

Elitist ……… exactly. That’s what concerts are soon to be. An elitist way to rub people’s noses in it, when other people can’t afford the tickets. Soon only the rich will be able to go to a live show.
Blind sleep or elitist are what these people are.
Fuck em. I don’t want to be in the same concert venue with them anyway.curmudgeoness wrote:gasoline; milk; real estate;
