I agree, you always buy TIX at your own risk. It's not like they have never added on dates after a pre-sale has happened. Personally, I decided to wait it out. Worse case they don;t do a third show and I am stuck trying to find seats to the 10/30 show.
Cuyahoga Falls 98, Columbus 00, Cleveland 03, Columbus 03, Toledo 04, Grand Rapids 04, Kitchener 05, Cleveland 06, Cincinnati 06, Washington DC 08, Philadelphia IV 09, Columbus 10, Cleveland 10, Chicago 13, Pittsburgh 13, Cincinnati 14, Chicago (1) 16, Chicago (2) 16
a. the 10/31 rumors were around before the shows were announced and tickets went on sale, so anyone who could only buy tickets to one show and chose 10/30 because they were banking that it would be the last was doing so at their own risk.
Like I said, these are not hardcore board lurkers who follow the band's every breath. These are casual fans. They see a show every few tours. They like the band/music, but don't have their finger to the pulse of the manic rumor machine like a lot of us here do. A lot of them did not know of these rumors. All they knew were the confirmed dates and that 10/30 was billed as the last show at the Spectrum. They want to see a historic band play a historic concert at a historic venue. They feel if another show is added, they lose some of that and don't get what they paid for. I can't blame them.
b. you (or anyone else) dont HAVE to buy tickets if 10/31 is added.
Who said anything about buying tickets to 10/31 show? Whether or not they buy the tickets has no bearing on feeling ripped off to some degree for the 10/30 tix. Either they don't get what they paid for, or they have to pay double. Either way, it won't help.
I'm not saying Pearl Jam are dicks for screwing everyone over. I'm saying people told me they'd be pist and here's why they said so and I can understand the feeling. Hell, I'm still a little sore about how shows were announced. If I'd have known about Philly in advance, I wouldn't have bought Toronto as the closest "confirmed" show at the time. I don't even know if Philly rumors had much steam at that point (I just don't remember).
They feel if another show is added, they lose some of that and don't get what they paid for
I think it would be annoying myself but every concert is the same price so that is really not an issue.
It would be nice to know ahead of time though what are the full slate of concert dates. If I can only afford one pair and want to see the last show, and I buy a show which seemed like it WAS the last show, then it turns out not to and I'm stuck because I cant afford another pair, that kinda sucks.
Jones Beach II (2000), Holmdel (2003), Camden I, East Rutherford II, Gorge I, Gorge II (2006), MSG I, Boston II (2008), Spectrum II, Spectrum III, Spectrum IV (2009), MSG I, MSG II (2010), Prague (2012), Philly I (2013), Philly I, Philly II, Fenway I (2016), Fenway I (2018), MSG (2022), MSG I, Fenway 1 (2024)
I hear ya, but I dont worry about people who get pissed about stuff they could have known if they tried. people in this world will get mad that it's raining and they didnt check the weather.
Hell, I'm still a little sore about how shows were announced. If I'd have known about Philly in advance, I wouldn't have bought Toronto as the closest "confirmed" show at the time.
I think everyone in the fan community is with you on this one. it makes no sense and is just a big FU to the fans. I bought tix for San Diego hoping for a second show and Philly hoping to hit Friday and Saturday, but I knew I was doing so at my own risk. now I hear rumors of a Vegas show, which is really pissing me off cuz I'd rather do Vegas than SD.
Ok, Pierre is saying lots of stuff about PJ!!! Just heard an interview with Stone on WMMR that talked about The Fixer being about Eddie "fixing" things! Pierre said the interview would be a podcast on their website.
Nothing definite about more shows, just him saying there are very strong rumors about more dates. Also he talked with Stone about possibly playing with Bruce Springsteen at the Spectrum.
Did any of you stop and think that the operators are starting to just mess with all these people calling them about PJ? I'm sure that must of them aren't complete morons.
I'm looking forward to all the bitching if a 'ween show is announced. I know a lot of people who bought tickets only to the 10/30 shows b/c it was the "last show at the Spectrum". They have *all* talked about how pissed they'd be if, after hyping 10/30 as the last show, they stuck another one in on the 31st.
Honestly, I can't blame them. Especially w/ all the hype about it being the last show. I'd be pist too.
Most of the news stories that came out last week when PJ tix went on sale said that PJ would be the last band or last act to perform at the Spectrum with shows on 10/28 and 10/30. I'm pretty sure most of them were worded carefully not to say the last show was 10/30 except for one article that said the Spectrum would not make it to Halloween.
And if my theory is right that I posted yesterday - that Philly would not be announced separately but with the rest of the tour, we could be waiting until the first week of August for an announcement as that's when the NBA schedule gets announced and since it will be October, most likely the band will be playing indoor shows. The NHL schedule is out, but I have a feeling nothing will be announced until the NBA schedule is finalized.

This has been the #1 issue with me since 2006. And no one has been able to successfully answer why they do this except for the reason no one wants to admit. Money. They announce the shows like this because they know people like you and me and 1000 others will panic and buy tickets to a show, and travel, knowing it might be the only chance to see them, which I do. I gripe about not getting shows in Texas, but I do travel.
I like the 10C. I think they do a lot of great things for the fans. I really do. But the way this band and their management releases tour information is frustrating beyond belief I wish they would just wait until all dates are confirmed and throw the whole tour up at once like every other band and like PJ themselves used to do.
If they did that, no one from Philly would ever have to worry about being shut out of tickets because people like me wouldn't come from Texas or all over the country to see them. No offense to Philly. I would rather hit shows closer to me.
I understand the North American "tour" may not have been planned when Chicago and Toronto came up. I am talking about the Backspacer "tour" and everything back to 2006.
Hey Albe...is your name like the song "The Reason Albe" sorry...couldn't resist...
LOL, no, but it should be. It's short for "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey". I seriously make my niece and nephew sing "we're so sorry Uncle Albert" when they do something wrong.
seriously, of course in the scheme of things...it's no big deal. i am happy i have a show on the horizon. it's the not knowing, the waiting, the what-ifs....they are fun and filled with excitement/anticipation for awhile, but that gets replaced with just wanting to know, one way or another.
i honestly think HOW they go about planning their tours has so completely altered, a lot more loosey-goosey.....and everything gets so last-minute...plan some shows here, then plan a few there......i don't think there is a 'grand picture' of a tour nowadays. why, idk....but it is how it seems to me. i might be way off of course.....but i don't see why else announcements would change so drastically.
and yes, i would still travel to see pj, simply b/c i like to travel and combine some live pj....but it simply makes it ALL so much easier for everyone...whether they do want to travel or stay close to home...or simply figure out wtf they are going to do and where they'd like to go, what fits for their lives and schedules and budgets. eh well.......
They feel if another show is added, they lose some of that and don't get what they paid for. I can't blame them.
Either they don't get what they paid for, or they have to pay double. Either way, it won't help.
This type of thinking is simply mind-boggling.
A) you make it seem as if the 10/30 tix were priced higher than the 10/28 shows b/c it was officially billed as "the last show at Spectrum". they are priced the same. what you are paying for is a concert - and accordingly you ARE getting what you paid for, and it happens to be the same cost as 10/28, and the same cost as what 10/31 would cost why kind of fan actually complains about his favorite band ADDING shows - this is LUDICCROUS
C) while fans who got tix to the 10/30 show SOLELY b/c 10/30 was dubbed as "the last ever at the spectrum!" maybe slightly "put out" (and I don't believe man fans outwardly said, "well, i only want to catch PJ one time on this tour - and so i'll go to that last one at the spectrum." Rather I bet most fans in Philly bought tix to BOTH shows - and would be buying tix to both shows even if it was being played at the Wachovia Center)... what about hte fans who didn't get 10c tix to the 10/30 show? why shouldn't they get a chance at 10c 10/31 tix.
Again, no premium was charged to buy tix to the 10/30 show. This type of "they didn't get what they paid for, if another show is added" is just beyond belief.
I purchased a 10/30 ticket, and I will jump for joy if 10/31 is added.

My god.
Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning!
It's a fair argument on both sides... my only complaint is that they didn't do rollover presales like in past tours so at least we had an idea of whether or not it was even possible. I tihnk that would have made all of these threads go away a bit and people could have made more educated decisions.
I can see the other side too... just anxiously awaiting an announcement like everyone else now!
With every passing day I think the chances of a Halloween show are decreasing. I'm just more concerned from a "the show before the last show is always the best" perspective. I have 10C seats for the 28th but will be behind the stage for the 30th. It messes everything up from a seating standpoint if they add this mythical 31st show. "You get what you get and don't throw a fit!"

No new's! Argh! The waiting is the hardest part! Not sure why they can't let us all relax about this.
Start a thread and say .. "HEY! We will inform you all a day or so before ticket's go on sale! There won't be no 10club ticket's on sale without notice. So back to work, and have fun in the sun!"
I mean something! Many people don't care, but many of us do care & think about it each day.
