Santa Barbara 03 - Amazing show with the first half being acoustic. Tons of special guests, John Fruciante, Jack Johnson, Jack Irons, Lyle Workman, and Chris Cornell for a Temple of the Dog reunion. It was an amazing show to benefit Cancer (research) in honor of Johnny Ramon who was dying. Played and teased a few Ramones songs and played Fatal among other rare gems.

San Diego 06 - Saw 10 shows in 06 and this one was easily the best. Eddie, Pearl Jam and the crowd had an amazing connection going on. Band played Big Wave for the first time, played Satan's Bed, a chilling Long Road, and the crowd participation was epic.

Mansfield 98 - Typical Boston show, with tons of energy and my Boston Octopus. (see Avatar  )

San Diego 95 - My first PJ show and it was sick. I was blown away and the love affair was begun.

LA 06 - Can't remember if it was night 1 or 2, but the setlist was great.

Eastern Creek Sydney 1995- Totally hooked after that. Rained all week but cleared that night with a a moon behind the stage. Band at their awesome best. A great sight of 35000 jumping at once to Last Exit
Brisbane 1 2006- Ten club seats on Stone's side really enregetic night from both band & crowd. Think Stone even acknowledged my wave.
Reading Festival 2006-My first outdoor show since 1995, Ed was very emotional & caring. Some songs i had not seen played live. We are also in the footage at the end of RVM.
Brisbane 2 1998- Band were very tight but i had to take care as i had a hernia. Long Road & Nothingman were the best moments.
Sydney 2 2003- Had my first Ten Club seats to night 1 but the crowd were very quiet & it came off on the band. Second show rocked with NAIS & Half Full making me very happy to hear.
London 2009- Think i can start counting the days now.

Tough to narrow it down to 5...in no order:

04/17/94 Paramount Theater at MSG - fan-club only show, night after SNL, fantastic energy
08/03/00 Virginia Beach - first show post-Roskilde tragedy...the It's OK singalong during Daughter was indescribable
    10/22/00 Las Vegas - 10th birthday show
    05/03/03 State College - not bad ;)
06/03/06 E. Rutherford - great all around show

    Honorable mentions:
07/05/03 Camden - hot as hell, RITFW mid-set with fireworks going off and great lyrics in Wishlist

    VIC, 2007: Tough to beat
Kitchener Canada: Great energy, "felt like a small bar or something"....
VFC-Toledo: Neil and Frampton, come on!
VFC-Grand Rapids: Great setlist and band energy
Cleveland 06: Best "stadium" show I've been to.

    * Ed Ved solo in Baltimore, night 2 should be between VIV and Canada..but not a "proper" PJ show
    Columbus 00, Cleveland 03, Columbus 03, Hershey 03, Toledo 04, Grand Rapids 04, Asheville 04, Kitchener 05, Cleveland 06, Cincinnati 06, VIC 07, Philly night 4 09, Columbus 10, Cleveland 10, Pitt 13, Charlottesville 13, Cincinnati 14, St. Louis 14

    2. Ottawa '05 - This was one of those "you had to be there shows" even thought the setlist and boot are both solid. The fact that a 10Cer bribed Ed to play certain songs (Wash, In Hiding, Immortality and the first ever appearance of Don't Gimme No Lip) in exchange for Ben Harper boots makes this show that much more special. Also had the best version of Black in the last 10 years or so. The show went 'til midnight too. All round amazing show.

REALLY??! That's one of the more awesome things I've heard in a long, long while.

    4. Vancouver 2005

Five out of twenty-three (soon to be twenty-five)? This can't be too difficult...can it?

    1. Thunder Bay. I don't even think it was the best Pearl Jam concert I saw that weekend...but whatever: it was my band in my hometown in a building in which I practically grew up. As long as I live I'll cherish that night.
    2. Buffalo 2003. After the concert my friends and I walked back to the car, got in and just sat for five minutes without saying a word. Made State College feel almost pedestrian (and I say that with great respect to State College).
    3. Toronto #2 2006. You had to be there; the synergy between the band and the crowd took this show to another level, and then to another level beyond that. I don't think I've ever seen Pearl Jam so utterly happy.
    4. Ottawa 2005. Ottawa came out of left field, especially after a disappointing Montreal concert the night before. Killer setlist; best version of "Yellow Ledbetter" I've ever heard.
    5. Minneapolis 1998. You never forget your first time!

Honourable mention: Jones Beach #2 2000 (but just for "It's OK"), Toronto 2000, State College, Montreal 2003 (underrated), Boston #2 2004, London 2005, the Vic. The fact that I'm not including the Vic in my top five makes me feel very, very fortunate about my Pearl Jam experiences thus far!

  • Good thread topic!

#1 - Philly 2005 = Special one night only show at the Wachovia Center featuring Crown of Thorns AND Sonic Reducer on the same setlist! Good covers that night and an electric set list.

#2 - MSG #1 2008 = Fantastic set and my first time seeing PJ at The Garden!

#3 - Philly 2003 (Spectrum) = First live PJ show with a phenomenal setlist. Opened with Crazy Mary!

    #4 - MSG #2 2008

    #5 - Camden 2 2008

    Philly Spectrum 04/28/03
    Greatest crowd ever.

    Storytellers 05/31/06
I got a few McCready picks that night.
Was behind the people on the rail. So techinally secondish row.

    Borgata Atlantic City 09/30/05
I got my first Mike Pick that night. Not on the rail but behind those people.
Second standing room only row. Could not run fast enough that day. Never got to be in row one.

    Borgata Atlantic City 10/01/05
My wife screamed STBC and Jeff fired a pick at her. It hit her in the chest and she reached down and got it. AND then they ripped into STBC, her favorite song. Well one of them.

    Wachovia Center Philly 10/03/05
Second best crowd I have ever heard.

I bet these new Spectrum shows will be just as good as the first one though.

    3. Boston III 2003 - acoustic preset
    4. Columbia 2008 - great setlist and crowd. a lot of fun.
    5. Champaign 2003 - good vibe. just a fun show. great version of Know Your Rights, and DTE as an opener.
