Kat, Thanks for coming here and leting us know you here what is being said. As many poeple stated the rules on DVD's is a little fuzzy. Though I don't trade bootlegsor dvd's, I do trade posters. Please post the wishes of the band a little clearer and we all can have fun and follow the rules on dvd's. I'm sure you see poeple being ask etc about 10c poster's all the time. That might start with DVD's now. Thanks alot Kat. Later Yostarama

While it wasn’t posted on the rules I don’t think there was ever a question or fuzziness on the DVD bootlegs, there are tons of DVDs out there for many many shows and the reason why you never see threads with trades for those its because it has never been ok to trade them or offer them as B+P.
The band it’s always been open about them not being ok with the videotaping of their shows but that’s not from now though its been like that since I can remember.
(or maybe I just spend way to much time on that board - :D )

I also appreciate Kat clarifying things. I always have been disappointed that there are so many fans think ing it is okay to make videos of the shows when the band has been clear (IMO) regarding their wishes. I have been impressed with how much the band gives back to their fans (official boots, fan-club only shows, frequent touring and official DVDs), but I guess for some its still not enough :P
I hold the pain, release me!
  • Now that the rules have basically been made clearer can we bring back D and Lukinfan? And while we are at it...how bout bostonlou as well? :D

Yeah if this is now understood and everyone can play by the rules I think D and LukinFan should be allowed to rejoin us. They are amazing people and I would hate to think of them not a part of it. I know its not the norm Kat but a lot of people feel this way. They are friends to this board and would NEVER intentionally hurt the band in any way.

    Who is D and Lukinfan?
  • Like it or not, bands have a right to control their art. If PJ considers a digital still photograph OK, or ignores the fact that some of their fans might take 30 second long videos with their camera... but doesn't consider a full length pirated DVD to be on the same level, we have to respect that.

30second long video clips from a digital camera? um mine isn't that good and it can do entire songs and if i had an extra memory card and battery with me, um, well...

Ok, so the "powers that be" may frown on this. but may I then make a suggestion??

We all know that "pirating" is illegal. We all have sat through many dvd warnings and let's all agree that we know this rule. None of us can play stupid on this one...........right?

OK, so how about the rules be a bit altered but not so fuzzy.........trading, gifting here, etc. are ok because they are not done for financial gain. If anyone is caught selling it, then of course the law is the law here as well as in law legal system. But if someone is just gifting something then it is different.
But still if the band says no recording dvds at the concerts then the rule is the rule.
So, is trading or gifting recordings that are allowed frowned upon?
