bad umpiring calls aside (there were a lot and they went both ways) we failed in a few crucial points
not bowling out the poms in cardiff and winning.
poor team selection - shane watson is not an opening batter, not a great bowler either, but could be good down the order
hauritz might have been a choice for the last test, but nobody expected the pitch to play the way it did. he is not much of a spinner anyway
ponting has always made a lot of questionable calls as captain, and that continued this series. we need ponting in the team for his batting and fielding, but he is not the right captain.
I'm not saying it didn't happen, but honestly, England got the better of the calls. I can't really recall any lucky decisons Australia got apart from Strauss dismissal in the first innings.
As Ricky Ponting said Aust best cricket was awesome, worst cricket terrible. Geez this hurts. I take my sport way too seriously.

If Stuart Clark hadn't been given out when he didn't hit the ball, he'd probably have gone on to make a double hundred and changed the game....
I think Russel Crowe got it bang on when he was special guest on Sky, he said that modern AUS lack the trademark ruhtlessness that has kept them on top of the world for so long. They should have punished us in Cardiff, they should have cleaned up our tail on several occassions when our middle order failed and they should care more than they seem to now. Ponting and Clark, and Cricket Australia, are all being far too nice about losing this series... I just think the hunger has gone a little.

I wasn't referring to just Clark HE was one of many. At Lords I think it was, Katitch out of a no ball, Hussey caught at fiurst slip but didn't touch it, at Hughes was caught on the bounce from Strauss. Then in the next test Bell should of been given out at least 2 times possibly 3. But that's cricket.
It would be better if the referral system was in place for this series. Cause it would stop idiots like me finding an excuse for everything.
