Australia 111-7 (Broad 0-1-lb-W-0-0): WICKET! BROAD CLEAN BOWLS HADDIN FOR HIS FIVE-FOR! Haddin attempts a suicidal run to get off the mark after eight balls, and Mitchell Johnson eagerly sprints to the non-striker's end as a leg-bye is called. Broad is bowling to a field of two slips and two gullies as he sends Haddin's stumps cartwheeling! It is his third Test five-wicket haul and it has put England in a dominant position!
Whatever happens I think the game needed England to be in pole position to make it a decent series finale. If the Aussies were in the lead it would peter out.
Never underestimate the English ability to turn a victory into a defeat though.

Yep, we are able to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory regularly in all sports. It's our legacy.

Don't you mean rain?
Well Yes rain can save us, much like bad light saved you guys in 05. Howeugly ill also help us. It is not in Australia's acs,but negative bowling could be used to our advantage. Bowling down leg/wide of off.

Australia 131-8 (Broad 0-1-1-0-W): WICKET! JOHNSON EDGES BEHIND TO PRIOR - SWANN GETS HIS THIRD WICKET! Australia are just two runs away from avoiding the follow on, and Stuart Clark comes to the crease! The tea interval is imminent, but if England take another wicket in this over, the umpires may delay it a bit longer.
and now a very dodgy decision. Perhaps he should have used a bat instead of a deft paddle.
Australia 143-9 (Swann 0-4-W-0-0-0): WICKET! CLARK FALLS TO SWANN! Despite his long spell, I was expecting Broad to return after the tea break, but Swann continues. Clark plays a deft paddle for four and that was audacious! However, he is caught at short leg by Cook, with replays showing that he did not get anywhere near hitting it with his bat - pure pad! Harsh!
So, we're 208 ahead and 2 wickets down... surely even we can't fuck this up! Mind you, with any lead below 400 I think Ponting and / Clark have the mental capacity to bat through.
And it's gonna take a lot of rain to stop this game with 3 days left, I think you Aussies need a Biblical style downpour to take up enough time to stop both teams being bowled out again on this wicket.

Dear God,
I'm not normally a praying man, therefore, I do not ask for much, so please either let it rain, or Australia come up with a miraculous victory. If Australia win, I may consider going to church more than just funerals and weddings
Amen.

Well done England. The most defining moment of that series was that spell of bowling from that singer from Hanson, Stuart Broad. He MMM bopped England into this match and a series winning spell.
What a turning point in the game was Ponting's runout. He didn't even look like getting out, then Flintoff who had been running like an old lady all day gets him. Well done to him.
Having said that, England had some favourable umpiring decisions go their way. Rudi, and then Asad Rauf in this test. I can only recall one lucky one Aust got and that was Strauss in the first innings of this match.
Now the real test comes for England when they come down here to play. Last time 5zip to us. Can England do any better.
Also, I thought Ponting's ovation he received was a credit to the English supporters. He is one of the greatest batsman of all time, and he has copped it a lot this series, but when it came down to it, they stood up and appreciated his services. IT reminded me of the standing ovation we gave Courntey Walsh as he trudged off the S.C.G for the last time.

i feel another 5-0 coming up in 15 months time
i would love to blame a few bad umpiring decesions with englands first win of the series, but we will get it back in 15 months time but not 5 - 0. Perhaps 2-0, unless we get a better spinner and some better batters!

bad umpiring calls aside (there were a lot and they went both ways) we failed in a few crucial points
not bowling out the poms in cardiff and winning.
poor team selection - shane watson is not an opening batter, not a great bowler either, but could be good down the order
hauritz might have been a choice for the last test, but nobody expected the pitch to play the way it did. he is not much of a spinner anyway
ponting has always made a lot of questionable calls as captain, and that continued this series. we need ponting in the team for his batting and fielding, but he is not the right captain.
