Pink Floyd Dark Side of the moon, just under 40 minutes. Led Zep albums around 42 minutes.

I'd rather not have stuff like Ghost filling the void between the Vinyl and CD media capacity.

It would be fun to take all the PJ albums and think in terms of the 1970's. Pick one album which gets to be a double album. Then, limit all others to 45 minutes of content. For each album, what songs would you leave in/out?

Sounds like an idea for a new thread ;)

I am the only one here thinking O'Brien just cut out all of the so-so stuff and jammed 36 minutes with the best?

I hope that's the case. Look at the Toadies' 'Rubberneck' album... 11 songs, 36 minutes, and a fucking stellar album start to finish. Not a filler on there. If PJ can pull that off, this will be a great album. It's not the length I'm worried about, it's the stylistic direction they decide to take. And production... the last album is one of the worst-sounding albums I ever heard.

You my friend need to CALM YOUR F'ING ASS DOWN! The sad thing is, is that YOU are serious. They don't have to release shit. What makes you think you are entitled to anything more than what they want to give YOU? Its there damn band, NOT YOURS. T And you dare say it belongs to you...to you...

    This is not for you

Seriously guys? Some of the greatest albums of all time have clocked in well under 30 minutes....

-There are only 3 Beatles albums to exceed the length (not including collections, they are Abbey Road, The White Album, and Yellow submarine)

-Although 42 minutes, the Blind Faith album was only 6 tracks

-BORN TO RUN - Bruce Springsteen - 39 minutes, 25 seconds. Only 8 tracks.

-GREETINGS FROM ASBURY PARK NJ - Bruce Springsteen - 37 minutes. 9 tracks.

    -Disraeli Gears - Cream - 33 minutes, 45 seconds. 11 tracks

-Willy and the Poor Boys - Creedence Clearwater Revival - 34 minutes, 56 seconds. 10 tracks.

-THE RISE AND FALL OF ZIGGY STARDUST AND THE SPIDERS FROM MARS - 38 minutes, 4 seconds. 11 tracks.

    -MORRISON HOTEL - The Doors - 34 mintues, 30 seconds. 10 tracks.

-The Soft Parade, Strange Days, Waiting for the Sun - The Doors - 9, 10, 11 tracks; 33, 35, 33 mins respectively

    -Eric Clapton - 37 minutes. 11 tracks

    -SLOWHAND - Eric Clapton - 38 mintues, 18 seconds. 9 tracks.

    -WORKINGMAN'S DEAD - The Grateful Dead - 35 minutes, 53 seconds. 8 tracks

-The Piper at the Gates of Dawn - Pink Floyd - 39 minutes, 40 seconds. 11 tracks

-NO Simon & Garfunkel studio albums exceed 40 minutes.

    -Texas Flood
    - Stevie Ray Vaughan - 33 minutes, 24 seconds. 9 tracks

Some of the most important albums of all time up there.

All this crying and we have yet to hear the official stuff from 10c yet. I am sure once the EV shows are done, o maybe sooner, we will hear something.

It will also be funny to hear all the same people crying about 36 minutes in 3 months come back and say how much they love the albulm.

  • Thraker: Brilliance, you made my point for me.

I, for one, am stoked for any amount of good music. I know I've had days that were simply amazing and memorable over *singles*, which log in at less than 36 minutes. Quality is right.
If Adam and Eve had Taco Bell they would have never eaten that filthy fruit...

    +1!
I can't understand these people bitching about the length of the new album! First and most important thing is that our long time waiting will be over soon! I am sure that the songs will be great, and therefore I don't mind the length and the number of songs on it (by the way, I saw another article in a german magazine and they wrote that the new album contains 14 songs!!!)! What if the new album has 42 minutes? 5 minutes difference and I am sure this whole shit and stupid discussion would not have been started!!

Quality not Quantity!! Nothing more to say!
