How were the seats for 10c tickets? were they all over the place like they said, or where they all pretty much up front??
I didn't hear anyone getting "crappy" seats. One person i know got row A center. so clearly there were some good ones! (i had TM balcony right, row h. not great, but certainly not too bad... i thought the sound quality in there was really good).
I had row A, seat 9. Great seat. But the venue goes AA-GG, then it starts at A. So I was like 8th row.

Vedder show unpolished, but enjoyable

ALBANY — ALBANY — Eddie Vedder started his solo tour in Albany Monday night — his first of two sold-out shows at The Palace. Calm and relaxed, he rambled through stories, stopped singing in mid-tune, and offered excuses throughout the show, though he didn’t need to make any.
Vedder’s voice commanded the same authority it does when Pearl Jam is behind him. His tone and power captured the packed Palace whether he shouted or whispered. The audience was eager to explode, and Vedder spent some effort keeping the lid on.
“Everyone just get comfortable,” he said, trying to lower the energy and set the vibe for his acoustic tunes — this from a man known to body surf the audience. The lid blew during some of his more intense tunes, like “Sometimes,” “I’m Open,” and “Dead Man Walkin.”
He continuously forgot lyrics during “Guranteed,” stopping to tell us how all his preparing for the tour has made it hard for him. “This is the longest version I’ve ever played of this song.” The screaming went up and down quickly through these parts, stopping abruptly as soon as he strummed again. Few performers have the ability to turn silent on a dime a packed and partying Palace.
He covered Bruce Springsteen’s “State Trooper,” his deep voice keeping the verses low.
He surprised even his more loyal fans with Bob Dylan’s “Girl from the North Country,” the prettiest tune of the night. He followed with the Beatle’s “You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away,” everybody joining him for the chorus. He blew a few simple harmonica chords to complete the picture. “Pretty good singing for the first night,” he said, not sure if he was congratulating himself or the audience.
Vedder said it was his third day in Albany, and he was enjoying some paddling on the Hudson River. He told a lengthy story that he swore he wouldn’t tell again on tour. But he seemed to be feeling out the audience, getting a pulse for the upcoming shows.
He did little with the guitar beyond accompanying his voice, staying away from leads or guitar tricks. He kept the songs fairly straight, relying on his throat and intensity to carry the night. He turned it over to the audience a few times, particularly in “Fade Away,” after he set the tone. He ad-libbed a song, trying to rhyme “Albany,” coming up with “You look so tall to me,” squeezing in “Utica” too.
Vedder is one of those figures that has become more than a rock star, revered in a number of circles beyond music. His show Monday night was far from polished — the tweaking of equipment and sound was constant — but that was the best part.
A crazy New Zealender named Liam Finn is opening for Vedder throughout the small tour. Monday night Finn and a partner on stage blasted electronic music, often looped, screamed words and nonsensical syllables into the mic, and soloed wildly on electric guitar, along with playing other numerous gizmos. Finn typically sat at a drumset halfway through a song and played mighty beats with mad-fast, high-slamming strokes. At any time they sounded like a mash of noise that turned many off. But if you paid attention through the song, they were brilliant in a loud, juvenile, avante garde way,
Finn’s flailing body adding to the drama. Every song entertained from a different angle throughout the 45-minute set. Surely he’ll strike a few chords with Vedder’s audience as the tour continues. He seemed off to a pretty good start Monday night.
I had row A, seat 9. Great seat. But the venue goes AA-GG, then it starts at A. So I was like 8th row.

Ed came out and didn't sign anything, but shook hands with, and spoke to, every single person that waited. I'd never met him before tonight. I thanked him for everything, and he complimented me on my bull's-eye/Who t-shirt, saying he had one just like it, and he told me I had a great smile. I'm 6'3, 330, bald, with a goatee. Not too many people tell me I have a great smile. I almost started to cry.
Great story!
Last night exceeded all my expectations. After hearing all the compaints of fan behavior, I have to say "Thank You" to all at that show. Albany was awesome. The venue was gorgeous and I loved the backdrops on stage, as well as the props... can't belive eddie found a way to use that chair.
Arc was a highlight. It has come a long way since the experiment in Mansfield.
Seats were great. About 10 rows from the stage, ORCH, left of center.
Thank you Eddie, 10C, and everyone at the show for an unforgettable experience.
Great Show
got up to the front for the encore
that was awsome
Eddie was super stoned but said it was, "not because I had just moked a big fatty before coming out here" (assuming that would be reckless) but that he "had not smoked for a week before this show to prepare" then when he did smoke before the show, he got totally blasted.
That was funny. He had the pasties for the first little while.
Also cool - when he mentioned the part about Neil Young being on stage with Flava Flav and saying that he "would have fucking remembered that", he added quietly, " Neil knows what time it is. "
I thought that was right on.
Thanks ED
Albany is an INCREDIBLE city.
Went for a walk in Rockefeller sqaure at 1am - that place in absolutely awesome.
Ed said his 4 year old daughter would be impressed that he played a palace and something about telling her a fib about riding on a white horse.
What made me laugh most was when he was saying that there was no show with Pearl Jam, Public Enemy and Neil Young...and he also said "Neil Young knows what time it is." hahaha.
Can' wait for tonight...

The place he said that they supposedly played was Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). Someone showed him article that said they played there in 1993 with Neil Young and Public Enemy. I actually went to college there. It was kinda funny hearing him talk about that. They did play there though in 1991:

Albany crowd was fantastic - it was my 6th EV solo and by far the best crowd - I felt like I was singing along to Porch for the first time! It was intense!
Its kind of disappointing to read the setlist from last night. It seems like these shows are going to be EXACTLY like the shows he did last year. I guess every show is going to end with Society, Arc and hard Sun??

there are no words to describe last night but amazing! I was blown away! He was in a great mood and sounded great. I really liked that Mr. State Trooper song. The best was at the end of Arc he walked off stage to shake hands. We were 3rd row and got to hold his hand. He was so nice! I wish I was going tonight!
Albany crowd was fantastic - it was my 6th EV solo and by far the best crowd - I felt like I was singing along to Porch for the first time! It was intense!
Yeah, awesome crowd most definitely. Barely saw any camera flashes, and more importantly not too many piss drunk screamers.
Those Albany #23 LS shirts were cool too. And a small area of my poster has beer stain on it.

Don't be fooled by the short setlist, Eddie was very interactive and very improvisive(not sure if that's a word but you get the idea) with the crowd.

the monkeywrench radio story took the place of at least one song (in terms of time).. maybe two.
plus, guaranteed (at least some of the guitar parts) was played almost 2x! LOL. poor ed. shook off the rust and finished strong.
lastly re: the setlist. ummmm, State Trooper, North Country, Hide Your Love Away, Albany Song (ok, line or two of lyrics).... yeah, that show was boring... total snoozer. (good thing PJ doesn't play Alive, Even Flow, Jeremy, Porch every show.... man I'm disappointed to hear those songs every year, you'd think they'd pick a few of their other ~125 originals or so.... sheesh).
I was so bbb blesed by the 10C to get seats center orch, 2nd row.
I had a perfect view of Ed all night and it was so cool to be able to see his facial expressions and really watch him sing. At the end of the show when he came down into the pit area to greet fans this big security guard gave me his hand and pulled me into 1st row so I got to watch Hard Sun from 1st row center. Fuckin amazing! then Ed held my hand and gave me a little wink when he passed by and my heart skipped a beat.
When the show ended I asked the guard to get me a pick I saw layin near the stage but someone else beat him to it, so no biggie I thanked him for letting me come up front.
After the show we were walking back to the car past the buses and I saw the same guard and he gave me a little head nod so I walked over and he dug around in his pocket and gave me a pick. I thought that was very sweet. I was going to wait there by the buses but I was like... got 2nd row, got to touch Ed and get a wink, got a pick... think that was enough for one evening.
B-sides there's always tonight.
I assume everyone stands at the solo shows or not??
Nashville '00 Houston, B'ham, Nashville, Atlanta '03 Toledo, Grand Rapids '04 Kitchener, London '05 Camden x 2, D.C., Cincy, San Fran x 3 '06 Chicago '07 Columbia '08 MSG x 2 '10; PJ 20 x 2 '11 Atlanta '12 Wrigley '13 St. Louis, Memphis '14 Lexington '15 Wrigley '16 Wrigley x 2 '18 Nashville '22
The set list was similar to last year's tour promoting Into The WIld but who cares?! His voice is pure gold - he could sing happy birthday for 2 hours and it would be awesome. Crazy amount of pot smoking and picture taking but the staff just gave up policing it. The Albany Times Union review is right on about his ability to silence the the place on a dime. As soon as he began to speak everyone shut the hell up - and there were MANY REALLY drunk people there. He has that much power over a room.

Those Albany #23 LS shirts were cool too. And a small area of my poster has beer stain on it.

plus, guaranteed (at least some of the guitar parts) was played almost 2x! LOL. poor ed. shook off the rust and finished strong.
lastly re: the setlist. ummmm, State Trooper, North Country, Hide Your Love Away, Albany Song (ok, line or two of lyrics).... yeah, that show was boring... total snoozer. (good thing PJ doesn't play Alive, Even Flow, Jeremy, Porch every show.... man I'm disappointed to hear those songs every year, you'd think they'd pick a few of their other ~125 originals or so.... sheesh).
