It's all sorted now though and i'll be buying my tickets tomorrow morning
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

Chester passes away (via Patterson's Myspace blog):

    Y'ALL:

I'm sad today to report that my Stepfather, Chester Adams passed away this morning in Florence AL.

He's been really sick for several years and had twice made amazing recoveries from deathbed conditions.

He's been suffering from a host of problems, especially congestive heart failure for about three years and was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer.
He's been having a really tough time with the treatment for that and took a major turn for the worse this past weekend.

My mom is doing alright considering but it's gonna be a long sad road for her for a while.

Their courtship was the subject of our song and monologue "18 Wheels of Love" and his near death experience a few years ago was detailed in the Austin City Limits version last year.

I don't know yet what kind of arrangements will be made but will post something at a later time when we know more.

Please keep Mom in your thoughts today.

Chester was a cool guy and truly a force of nature that will be forever missed in our family.

    Thanks,
    Patterson

Damn, that's too bad. Glad he got some extra time. RIP Chester.
"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

    You're right...truly amazing.
I had begun listening to them just a few months before Bonnaroo 2008 and immediately became a fan, but when I saw them at Bonnaroo that glorious Friday afternoon and they did that it hooked me for forever.

    RIP Chester

I'm new to the party. Just picked up The Big To Do on a whim and it's really fantastic.

Where should i go from here?
“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”

For me "The Dirty South" is must-have. "Brighter Than Creation's Dark" and "A Blessing and A Curse" are also awesome....actually you can't go wrong.
DBTs are unbelieveable live though so you really need to check out the Live at the 40 Watt dvd as well as Austin City Limits

The show in Jackson last night was unbelieveable. This band is so damn good. Patterson and Cooley are two of the best songwriters/storytellers ever. We got there early and were able to score spots on the rail. It was an outside show, hot as hell, but such a great time. This band is so damn good it blows my mind.

Also, a band named Marah, which I had previously been unaware of at all somehow, opened and they put on a fantastic show. Such energy and good music to boot. Check em out if you are like me and haven't heard of them....some of their stuff has a very Springsteen-y quality (I noticed that about halfway through the first song) but they kick some major ass. I would see them again anytime I get the chance for sure.

They truly are. Those guys can weave a tale better than any drunk fisherman or old man sitting around whittlin' with his buddies ever could. For me, virtually every one of their songs paint a picture that can make you feel like you know the people or events in them first hand. Plus, this is one of the most kickass rock bands in the world. If I could spend every Saturday night listening to them I would be as happy as a pig in mud

My favorite "tale" song of theirs has easily become "Where The Devil Don't Stay"
