Blanton's was exceptional. Should I try eagle rare or buffalo trace for my next bottle? I'm still reasonably new to the bourbon game and am always looking for suggestions.

I think Buffalo Trace is a pretty good bourbon for newcomers. Its very smooth for 90 proof.

I haven't tried eagle rare, but buffalo trace is a nice bourbon. If you liked blantons I think you'll like this one.
I revisited some corner creek reserve this weekend, Yum!. Going to have to get a back up bottle of this one.

Is the Hopslam worth $17.99 a six pack?

No. It's good but you can get beer just as good if not better for less. The hype machine dictates that price.

Eagle Rare is excellent. Just started my last bottle that I've had stashed under my bed since before Christmas. Bought the last two bottles at a local store and haven't seen any since.

Had some of the Blantons again last night it is above the Eagle a bit - but not 30 dollars a bottle

I found it in Vancouver about a year ago, but haven't seen it since. In my opinion, it's much better than the original (see earlier posts on the subject of different offerings of Blantons,

Picked up a bottle of Four Roses single tonight. Had some tough decisions between that, the Bookers and Basil, but went with it based on what some of you said on here. Sipping on a glass right now. Nice and smooth.
    It's a hopeless situation...

Don't waste your time with Basil Hayden's. 80 proof whiskey is for 16 year olds or the elderly. That's just science.

Oh man late to this party...Pappy's! Heard about them in 2011 from a Grantland article by Wright Thompson (still there if you want to search the site). It became my obsession that summer and fall. I had to try a bottle.
I guess I didn't realize or wasn't aware of how difficult it was to get your hands on one; I'd read stories about people who had waited decades in some cases. What did I do? I called one store (the one closest to my house), got put on a list and a few weeks later, the shop owner called me and said he had a bottle of 15 and one of 20 left. Got both of them for $200. Again, did not realize how lucky I was until much later. It's my winning the lottery story. I think it's as good as everyone says it is.

Personally I prefer the 15 over the 20. The 20 has a strong vanilla flavor, I remember reading somewhere that a bar in KY serves it as part of a milkshake(?). Makes sense. There's also a bar in the basement of the Venetian out in Vegas which sells PVW next time you're there...

I had the 15 first and maybe that's why I prefer it, but man oh man it was an experience.

Yep... They make some nice (and pricey) displays for the stoppers once you have collected the B-L-A-N-T-O-N-S (two different "N"'s)...

There's a gold set too. You have a lot of drinking to do.

Let me know how far you get. I have a bunch left over sitting in boxes/drawers throughout the house. Willing to help fill any voids in a collection.

Sometimes they can be hard to get a set because in addition to having a letter, they signify a barreling time period.

I'll have to check around on which ones I have, I moved a year ago and haven't seen them in a bit.

Yeah, buffalo trace is not my go to bottle. But I do enjoy it. Don't get the vanilla/caramel flavours as much as I like. More on the fruity, almost nutty side of it.
And I have some extra Blanton tops if you need buck
