Itll be interesting to see how this turns out. The major music buyers (teens and younger adults) dont care about sound quality enough for something where they might not notice the difference anyway. The price factor on songs alone will drive people away.

I agree but I like that it's an option. Anyone know why they would choose to release it at that rate when it's not the highest? I know the arguments about not being able to hear rates higher but why wouldn't a label just make it available since the cost is probably the same?

Damn, my fave PJ album offered up. I didn't have the $$ to jump on one of these & still don't. Hope it is amazing, & comes down to a decent price in the future.

    It is. http://www.hdtracks.com/vs-remastered-135676 .
Vs. (Remastered) Available in Audiophile 96kHz/24bit.

I hope it's a text error on the Pono website or that Pearl Jam / Epic / Legacy gave the company the wrong kHz transfer rated source.

    Yeah,
    this doesn't make sense.
If it is available in 96kHz already then why wouldn't they offer that version to us as PONO backers????

Thanks to the ever-reliable source D for the info B-)
TP's two albums are Hypnotic Eye (48/24) and Wildflowers (96/24). Beck's are Mutations (192/24) and Sea Change (192/24)....interesting that he didn't serve up Morning Light as one of his two selections :-? . Uncle Neil's are A Letter Home (192/24) and Harvest (192/24). Curious to see what Metallica and Grateful Dead choose....no word on those yet. Will be dropping dime at some point for high res copies of Sea Change and Wildflowers :-B

:(( I was hoping for around $10 an album but I guess that is what you would pay for a crappy mp3 copy off of ITunes. maybe???
I really have no idea what digital media costs outside of the PJ HDFLAC bootlegs.

I'm betting CSNY will be the new CSNY 1974 and Deja Vu. Am concerned that Neil needs more crowd funding to get this up and running and with the old CEO leaving. Good news he's got the money from crowd funding they wanted, just hope it's enough to get this up and running for good and not a flash in the pan. Disappointed we're not getting better quality versions of the PJ albums when they're available, That doesn't speak well for arrangements they are making with the record companies. Hopefully these new record industry vets will help that situation.

Re: album price tag....from Pono's website:

"The record companies set their own digital music prices, label by label. High-resolution digital albums at PonoMusic.com are expected to cost between $14.99 and $24.99, and there may be exceptions. For this price you get the best quality digital music available anywhere, you own these albums forever - they don't only live in the cloud, but also on your computer and backup disc, and you can play them anytime you wish on your PonoPlayer or other compatible devices.

We will also be offering many of your favorite individual songs. Pricing will be displayed within the PonoMusic.com store."

Am I the only one that purchased the Pearl Jam LE PONO player and now feels nervous to use it?
I mean I am really into high quality audio but I keep thinking I need to "preserve" this player because of it's rarity.
I am thinking of buying a regular version for daily use.

I havent read all 34 pages but have they stressed the need for audiophile headphones? As a vinyl enthusiast i cringe at people using everyday earbuds for their PONO just like someone buying a highend turntable and using awful speakers. Your setup is only as strong as your weakest link.

Im also interested in the mastering process of these versions of songs/albums. If they brickwall it like the Ten remix (great remix ruined by awful mastering) then theres no advantage.

If Neil can find a bunch of people like me, then he has got it made.

I know what you mean, but I'm going to use my PJ Pono everyday!
Sell me your PJ pono and I will buy you another regular one to use everyday!

Am I the only one that purchased the Pearl Jam LE PONO player and now feels nervous to use it?
I mean I am really into high quality audio but I keep thinking I need to "preserve" this player because of it's rarity.
I am thinking of buying a regular version for daily use.

How do a few of you drop $800 just like that? Are you wealthy? Living beyond your means? Racking up credit card debt? Wall Street tycoons? Selling drugs in your spare time?

A lot cheaper than a good smartphone... Seems like a reasonable price to me for what it is. But yeah, $400 is a lot, worth it or not. I don't regret NOT buying one. I'll stick to vinyl. :)
