    Not sure if you guys also noticed the part of the story where he mentions the CARBON OFFSET PROGRAM they are doing as well for the tour, that they have been doing for a few years, and how he mocked himself about it as well for riding in an SUV after paddling on the river. Relax.

    It's silly because it's in conflict with what almighty Vedder says. His complaint is just as silly.

    I drive cars that get low gas mileage. I don't get on stage every night and bitch about cars driving down the road either. Do you?

    I don't think he agrees with Ed, there is nothing to agree with, Ed didn't make a comment on his own buses.
    We have no clue as to whether Ed was in there or whether the people in that bus were hot and wanted to run the A/C and didn't give a shit about what Ed thinks about the environment....

    I too think that there are many things that ruin our environment and I think that there are many more things I can do to lessen my carbon footprint, but because there is room for improvement in what I do doesn't mean that i can't have an opinion... that's where I agree with aNiMal.

    It's just that I find this part a pretty big part of the story. I mean, if he truly wants to make a difference then why are these buses burning fuels in the middle of the street for no apparent reason? If he is really honest with everyone when he goes up there as the persona of "Eddie Vedder," (because that's what it is really, a persona) and then repeatedly speak about all of the great things he does with the environment, then why are his buses tearing a hole in the sky? I think it's a very fair question.

    maybe there is equipment in the buses that need power? i know that when a grocery store receives frozen/refrigerated product, the trailer has an engine that powers the refrigeration.

    how do you know his buses are not running on vegetable oil?=p

    I dont think he was bitching about the SUV's ruining his view, I think he geared his comment towards the fact that he was enjoying nature and seeing the SUV's snapped him back into reality and how the beauty of our environment in all different parts of the world is being ruined by the ones who live in it.

    I doubt that he was bothered solely because the SUV ruined his view :rolleyes:

    Vehicles need to be running in order for the air conditioning to operate...

    And as I said in the other thread, yeah, you can feel pretty righteous when you're out and about on your paddle board. I feel the same way..."stupd boats polluting everything - I have to take my board through your damn oil spill and diesel..."

    However, I need my SUV to get my board to the ocean and back...and if my parents rang me up and invited me for a ride in their boat (a cabin cruiser), I'd say "Sure!"

    I carpool to work, so that offsets my carbon footprint...but yeah, I can feel quite superior on my board sometimes...not using any fuel but my own...But I am humbled by my surroundings. I can see where Ed is coming from...

    PS. I believe most tour buses run on biodiesel....

    I'm sure he specifically mentioned the SUVs because they use so much gas, which makes the original posters point all the more valid.
