to me, the progression of the album is just like the end of winter/start of spring...starts fast like that one warm ass day in march that teases you...it slows down a bit then gradually picks it back up before stopping to refelect on how amazing the occurance of new life is... then it realizes that spring has arrived for good and it's time to be outside and experience all of nature. then as it winds down it looks back at all the ups and downs that are involved in winter changing to spring...to me, yield is a concept album of rebirth, new growth, new thinking ect, and hence, the greatest spring album of all time. ive been listening non stop latley
Further back and forth a wave will break on me, today...

LOWLIGHT and IN HIDING are good examples of this.

The breakdown in LOWLIGHT is my favorite...when the piano comes in.

exactly. plus all those yeterdays...i mean there is nothing like blasting yield on a warm weekend morning, it would piss of the neighbors, but they love what they hear!! id love to hear the theory on why it's a fall album though...

Yet another reason why I wish the original thread was still around...so much thought provoking information.

  • I think the autumn thing was just the vibe...60 degree beautiful October days...the best of nature with the leaves, etc...

I'm sure there was something thematic...but the vibe, really.

Looks like we still have believers.

    YIELD. Recognize.

Not a very YIELDly day here in DSM. Rainy and windy. Blah.

I thought Lowlight was a late summer song...getting ready for fall. Then IN HIDING kicks in and it reminds you that it's still summertime and you need to get out and enjoy it instead of being IN HIDING. Once the person surfaces (gets out of the house) they are enlightened by what they have been missing.

Will and Buk have a different theory. ;)
No longer overwhelmed it seems so simple now.

  • I think it was one of the first Pj albums I myself purchased. Live on Two Legs was the first and I think Yield might have been the second. Vitalogy was the first one I listened to though.

    Yeah I could do that...

Although, maybe we need to see some dedication from others before we give them the goods. ;)

    Follow me here.

After the tough times of the No Code recording sessions...YIELD is what you would call "Make Up Sex".

    ...and it is good.
