So what do you guys think? Do it or don't do it? Its still unbought, and the sale closes in less than 4 hours. Hmm.0 -

It's over priced tremendously as well I don't know what the GP is on that but say a grand for each cab and a generous 2 grand for the head and it's still 3 or 4 hundred more than you should pay. Shipping should be included in that price. That, and no living human really needs any unit that loud anymore. My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.0 -

be prepared to, at some point, have to do something about that crack but otherwise it looks pretty nice. i really don't know if it's a smoking deal or not. i paid $960 for my 2004 sg standard off ebay but that was a weird lefty guitar.0 -

I'm so tempted, and I know this would be my last gear purchase for a good long while. What would have to be done to the headstock crack and would it prevent me from putting in different tuners somewhere down the road?
The current SG Special retails for $950 at MF, and this is a discontinued color. So for $740 with shipping it seems like a deal.0 -

yeah, we all say that.
if it is indeed through the wood, i think it would just have to be glued and clamped and then whatever degree of aesthetic repair you'd want. i'm not an expert though. that's just a guess.
it wouldn't hinder changing tuners and that would probably be the best time to look at getting the crack fully checked out.
hell, my SG has a headstock crack that is either lacquer-only or the end of the guitar depending on who you talk to but it's still solid.0 -

worse comes to worse, at that price, you can still probably get what you paid out of it, at least while ED is playing units of that color. My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.0

I mean it this time!
We shall see. I still have 3 hours to mull it over.0 -
"and a generous 2 grand for the head "
Yah, I've seen the DR504 go for just over 1000 and just under. They do seem to be getting more and more rare on ebay though.
And although 50 watts through 2 4x12's may be excessive for any imaginable practical use, it looks amazing, and I bet if you rented out a highschool gym or something it would sound amazing too
I am considering selling my HIWATT for some sort of 5-15watter. Maybe an orange, or that tiny little HIWATT made by Reeves. The custom 6 looks really cool.
FEATURES *12" 16-ohm Vintage Purple cast frame speaker
*Single Ended Class A design
*Single 12ax7 & Single EL-84 tubes
*High and Low inputs
*Volume, Bass, Mid, Treble controls
*4,8,16 ohm speaker jacks
*HEADPHONE Jack
*LINE OUT jack(use to record or can be used as a tube preamp in front of another amp)
*(H) 20" x (W) 24" x (D) 9" Made with 13 ply Baltic birch with 1/4" finger joints.
*Available in Black, Red and Blond tolex.
I love my HIWATT, but I haven't been able to form a band, and for recording I often have to turn my HIWATT up to 6 or 7 to get the tone I want. And 6 or 7 on this amp is definately doing some damage to my ears, and killing any insects or animals in the room. It would be nice to have a tiny thing to play till the tubes bust.

the reeves will go for under $750 i bet. the last one was $690 or something if i remember correctly.0
-
That reeves is awesome. It would be perfect for home to club stuff too, that's a vintage purple in the back.
Look and see if you can't find that 7 watt Matamp too, it's fantastic, they also make a hiwatt style amp called the New England Classic.

i'd say so but i've been known to be a little spendhappy when i want something badly enough.0
-
So I managed to control myself and the guy re-listed it, $40 cheaper. Decisions decisions.
