yeah, we all say that. :)

if it is indeed through the wood, i think it would just have to be glued and clamped and then whatever degree of aesthetic repair you'd want. i'm not an expert though. that's just a guess.

it wouldn't hinder changing tuners and that would probably be the best time to look at getting the crack fully checked out.

hell, my SG has a headstock crack that is either lacquer-only or the end of the guitar depending on who you talk to but it's still solid.

    I mean it this time!

We shall see. I still have 3 hours to mull it over.

worse comes to worse, at that price, you can still probably get what you paid out of it, at least while ED is playing units of that color.

    Too bad Ed smashed his.

Yah, I've seen the DR504 go for just over 1000 and just under. They do seem to be getting more and more rare on ebay though.
And although 50 watts through 2 4x12's may be excessive for any imaginable practical use, it looks amazing, and I bet if you rented out a highschool gym or something it would sound amazing too :)

I am considering selling my HIWATT for some sort of 5-15watter. Maybe an orange, or that tiny little HIWATT made by Reeves. The custom 6 looks really cool.

FEATURES *12" 16-ohm Vintage Purple cast frame speaker
    *Single Ended Class A design
    *Single 12ax7 & Single EL-84 tubes
    *High and Low inputs
    *Volume, Bass, Mid, Treble controls
    *4,8,16 ohm speaker jacks
    *HEADPHONE Jack
*LINE OUT jack(use to record or can be used as a tube preamp in front of another amp)
    *(H) 20" x (W) 24" x (D) 9" Made with 13 ply Baltic birch with 1/4" finger joints.
*Available in Black, Red and Blond tolex.

I love my HIWATT, but I haven't been able to form a band, and for recording I often have to turn my HIWATT up to 6 or 7 to get the tone I want. And 6 or 7 on this amp is definately doing some damage to my ears, and killing any insects or animals in the room. It would be nice to have a tiny thing to play till the tubes bust.

Frig, I may buy it. What a beautiful amp, at a ridiculous price.

the reeves will go for under $750 i bet. the last one was $690 or something if i remember correctly.

That reeves is awesome. It would be perfect for home to club stuff too, that's a vintage purple in the back.

Look and see if you can't find that 7 watt Matamp too, it's fantastic, they also make a hiwatt style amp called the New England Classic.

I want one of these so bad with a S90 in the bridge, I just don't want to pay $2700 bucks for it. These sound like heaven throught a bassman.

To keep it in the Ebay Spirit here's an extremely overpriced unit.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7362753192&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_RSCC_Pr4_PcY_BID_Stores_IT you can get a murph for that if you shop around.

So I've decided to exercise some self control and not get the Teal SG.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7363000369&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT

I was tempted though. I went and played a few SG Specials at GC the past few days and just wasn't digging them. I plugged into the same amp I have at home and just wasn't happy with the sound I was getting. Didn't dig on the chunkier neck either. What I did enjoy the hell out of, was the SG '61 Reissue. But sadly, at about $1500-$1600 it'll have to wait. I'll focus on getting good with my Strat first!

Epi Elite has a version of the 61 SG that is $800 and there is a G400 in the 400 bone range.

Nice. Again, aside from the practice amp, going to refrain from any gear purchases for awhile. Pay for what I already have and get good on it before I start adding to the collection.

Epiphone Elitist is on another level than just Epiphone.

I've got my buddy scouring china for one currently. Aparently EPI LP Customs go for about $375 and he says they have a Gibson for $500. I said be skeptical but then again at 500 bucks plus about 200 shipping (still cheaper than a love rock) it might be a cool fake to own.

    Damn I want a 63 Dot. I want to be a bluesman. :(

Why does this guy keep tempting me. He pulled the sale early and relisted it, again. This time $100 cheaper than the original asking price, and $60 from the last sale price.

    don't think, just do it...
  • Now I wanna buy that SG. What a deal.
The strange sale tactics make me skeptical though I must say.

    Nice guitar.
That crack in the headstock is more than just the paint, though. It may get worse as the wood expands and contracts. The wood from the neck goes in a straight line all the way to the top of the headstock, and probably is fine, and the crack is in the joint of the glued on "wing". If it does get worse, it'll continue up towards the top of the headstock in a line along the glue joint.
It IS fixable but it'll be hard to repaint to become invisible. You would take off the tuners and the piece of wood and reglue it, paint it and reinstall the tuners.

Oherwise, looks like a good guitar!

Yeah, problem is I played a few SG Specials at GC over the weekend and wasn't too impressed. I like the guitar in question for the Teal color, mostly. If I did get it, I'd probably switch out the pickups as I preferred the 57 classics in the 61 Reissue SG. Tough call, but I think I'll stick to just my Strat for now.

it's beautiful too, and it's made in a tiny shop in Halifax.

I haven't tried it or the Echoczar (ha ha probably never) but it is bad ass.

Currently I want to trade my DL4 for a Burriss Boostiest Custom, and then get some kind of glorious germainum fuzz miracle.
