I am so glad they get along well. When I first got her in December Lukin was growling and hissing and hiding. But she won him over in only a few days. Now they are the best of friends.

We have a friendly outdoor black cat who appears to be licking his fur off.  He looked like he was in pain yesterday.  Has anyone experienced this or have remedies?

I got some fish oil to mix in with his food to see if that helps.

We adopted an elderly cat that was doing this, but we never figured out how to help. The vet gave her a shot (a steroid, I think?), which helped for a couple weeks, but the vet didn’t want to routinely do that. We put the cat on a specific diet, was able to rule food allergies out, but then we started dealing with her cancer before we could figure out if there were environmental issues. It was hard to witness as she always seemed irritated, and it would scab on occasion. Hope you’re able to help your feline friend out.

I have an appointment set up with the vet later today.  My brother noticed the cat had a hole above his butt .... hole the other day.  He seems to be doing OK today, so I will wait for the pros to diagnose.

    Yooooooooooo

I don't come to the forum much any more except for the occasional DM... hope all your kitties are well. Chains & Nuala are still little divas... check out the last picture for my new fuzz pedal.

Hope everyone out there is doing ok these days. Try to be as good to yourselves as I'm sure you are your cats.

    Peace & Love

For one of my cats a protein allergy was the culprit for the fur and the lack of fur caused the cat to lick.  Food change made all the difference for him.

Fingers crossed. If you have a white mage in your party, you could try Esuna as well.

Well, good new from the vet ... something bit the cat in the butt, but the vet said it is healing like they would hope to see and gave him some antibiotics.  They said the fur could be a stress issue, which could be caused by getting bit in the butt.  That would probably stress me out.  There are a lot of stray tomcats prowling around as well.

As for the fur licking, they gave something that may help, so I will just need to monitor.

here is the little bugger ...
