Indeed, I have. It's been awhile since I had a bottle. Good stuff, I dig Heaven Hill's profile. I've been crushing a few bottles of the Old Fitzgerald 7 year old as of late, another good bottle from Heaven Hill.dudeman said:

Heaven Hill has some good offerings. I enjoyed their tasting when my wife and I were up there a few years ago. I understand they've made their guest experience even better though. Got to try the HH BIB, McKenna Single Barrel (10 yr), and Old Fitzgerald 8 yr. All very quality bourbons. There may have been 1 or 2 more to try, but those stood out the most.

Good to know! I have seen their BiB a few times but always had something else I was looking for. I'll move those higher on the list.BIGDaddyWil said:

If hope can grow from dirt like me, it can be done. - EV0 -
Excellent! We're half-assed planning a trip to hit a few distilleries this summer. Heaven Hill, Buffalo Trace and Four Roses are high on my list. Interested to check some of those places out.markymark550 said:Heaven Hill has some good offerings. I enjoyed their tasting when my wife and I were up there a few years ago. I grabbed a bottle of this a few days ago and I think it is damn good. It's the first Penelope I've tried. It was $40.00 but seems like it punches way above that price point. If hope can grow from dirt like me, it can be done. - EV0 -
It's a blast! We hit those 3. Tastings at HH and Four Roses. Full tour at Buffalo Trace. Did a few others as well. I posted about it way earlier in the thread (we went in May 2019). Highly recommend a trip like that to anyone that enjoys bourbon.dudeman said:

Cracked this one open tonight. Haven't looked up the mash bill, but it's definitely got a high rye content. That pepper/spice stays with you for a while. I won't have any problems finishing this bottle, but it's not going to become a staple in my collection.

I tried Basil Hayden last night for the first time. Thought it was OK but not something I will seek out in the future.
I also bought a bottle of Russell's Reserve Single Barrel. Really liking this one! I have only had a couple pours from Wild Turkey and liked them well enough but this is the first RR I've tried. When this is gone, I will probably get another one for the shelf or try a different Russell's Reserve. If hope can grow from dirt like me, it can be done. - EV0 -
Those Russell's single barrels can be real bangers! Not surprised you didn't go crazy for Basil Hayden. I find anything from them to be incredibly boring.dudeman said:I tried Basil Hayden last night for the first time. Thought it was OK but not something I will seek out in the future.

Yeah, the BH wasn't necessarily BAD, it just wasn't anything special. I've had worse. It's just OK.mca47 said:

That Russell's Reserve is really good though! It brings something to my small collection that nothing else does. I could definitely see myself keeping a bottle of it on hand.If hope can grow from dirt like me, it can be done. - EV0 -

I have a RR on my bar that I haven't touched yet worried I wouldn't find another... I don't think the Bourbon Bros discovered that one yet.0 -
It seems like things are getting better around here with availability and costs.
I have seen a fair amount of Blanton's, Eagle Rare and EH Taylor just sitting on shelves for mostly normal prices lately. If hope can grow from dirt like me, it can be done. - EV0 -
Got to try Stagg for the first time over the weekend. Good stuff, lots going on in that one and pretty punchy. Somewhere around 130 proof from what I've read.
Glad for the chance to try it but I won't try to track down a bottle for myself. If hope can grow from dirt like me, it can be done. - EV0 -

Forgot to post this. My local Costco had Weller reserve 750 and 1L for $32 and $36 limit of one each. Damn right I bought them both.
It was half the price of whats in stores.0 -

I'm completely amazed at how EHT Small Batch is literally everywhere here in AZ. I may have mentioned it before, but there are literally cases of it at my local grocery store. Bunch at Total Wine, random stores....everywhere. What's even crazier is that none of it (or very little) is actually moving.
Just 3-4 years ago, seeing that yellow tube in the wild was so rare.
I've also heard that a bunch of Weller (all types) are everywhere here, but I haven't personally seen that.
How things have changed, and I LOVE it!0 -

I think EH Taylor Small Batch is my favorite that I've tried. Evernorth Essence is high on the list too.If hope can grow from dirt like me, it can be done. - EV0
