WH trainee JD Vance sounds and acts like the idiot of the year with his „self defense“ speech to defend the shooter/killer (and the own system).
Without any distortion of perception his statement is practically a self-disqualification for any further government job - and no revision of this statement should mean the beginning of the end of this government. XX years in jail for the shooter/killer anyway.

Kinda gross to wake up to see ICE agents entering the guys house and taking all his computers and whatnot.

These ICE agents are bad. Like secret police bad. It’s scary.
they are the fucking american gestapo.

“Nobody’s sending him flowers”. Maybe not but my tax dollars funded masked agents to help him move. I wonder if I can deduct that expense on my return?

This video to me is the essence of what ICE has been put in power to do.  To straight up inflict FEAR to ALL Americans. Give it to a look as to what happened to a paster moments after  Renee Good was killed.

There really needs to be a nationwide strike. Like millions of ‘Muricans walking off the job, at once, in all sectors of business, public/private, government/education/healthcare, and refuse to return to work until ICE is withdrawn and Congress puts some checks on this constitution ignoring government. The only way this is gonna change is if the 1% feels it in the wallet.

Planned weekend protests are nice to see and encouraging but they don’t lead to required, necessary change. The 1% laughs at that. We need our own BDS and Wall Street, tech bros and the 1% need to feel it in their wallets.

Good plan.  It's been talked about in various places, but for it to work will require a strong, wide spread plan, and a lot of people willing to give up- not just a little, but I mean really make some sacrifices.  But it would be worth it.
And yes, sadly the weekend rallies are not making much of a dent.  I still support them, but we need to understand they are not enough.
    You nailed it, my friend.

seems practical to me. Mayor thought it wise. The Bulwark podcast had him on yesterday. This was one small part of their discussion.

Personally, if I lived in Minneapolis, I wouldn’t feel right about going out and trying to yuck it up and have laughs so close to Renee’s death and with the current situation ongoing. Guess I’m a snowflake. The safety concern is legit if you’ve seen the countless videos of ICE people and trying to disappear them and anyone walking around could be subject to being snatched by ICE or other bad actors.

If I were the artist, it would be uncomfortable to perform because, as he said, “it doesn’t sit right”. That, and you couldn’t perform without addressing the pain, anger and fear that people are legitimately feeling. I don’t know what or how John would express that but I know I’d struggle to contain my anger and probably say something that would get me labeled a domestic terrorist. A fine and tricky line to walk.

Colbert tried to address the death of Renee in his opening monologue on Thursday, I think, and you could see him welling up. But his words left me wanting. I don’t hold it against him but aren’t we all sick of this shit? George Floyd was 5 years ago. Rodney King was 35 years ago, and all that’s occurred in between. Aren’t we sick of this shit yet?

I guess it's tough to know just how much of this patrolling is being done. I mean, we see the videos, but in the larger context of the entire city, how many officers are there? Is it really "not safe" to go out? I'm not trying to downplay the seriousness, cuz it's entirely fucked up what is going on, but I guess I'm coming from the side of "if we cancel all that we love doing, they win".

Comedian John Mulaney had two shows booked at the Armory in Minneapolis this weekend and he postponed both, citing that he didn't want to make people leave their homes when it's not safe to go out.  I'm not sure if this helps or if causes more fear.

Oh man, tough call.  I don't know.  Anyone?

In the immortal lyrics of U2’s song Silver and Gold, “am I bugging you? Am I bugging you yet?”

I guess it's tough to know just how much of this patrolling is being done. I mean, we see the videos, but in the larger context of the entire city, how many officers are there? Is it really "not safe" to go out? I'm not trying to downplay the seriousness, cuz it's entirely fucked up what is going on, but I guess I'm coming from the side of "if we cancel all that we love doing, they win".

    many are choosing to protest....

    Good perspective.
I was thinking that maybe because of Mulaney being left leaning, perhaps he was concerned about MAGA or ICE disruption.  I was also think people might show up to see him the way people showed up to see Colbert as you mentioned, and for the same reasons.  But yeah, it would be difficult to enjoy comedy anywhere, especially in Minneapolis right now. I wouldn't be up for it.
Yes, we are sick of this shit.  Sick to death of it.

The Gnome “surged” 2,000 additional agents after they were already there, even pulling ICE from Louisiana, and after the right wing punk “influencer “ went viral. Anyone can be a masked agent and I wouldn’t feel safe being around that, particularly at night. Poorly trained, under educated, lacking experience, given a gun and a badge with concealed identity roaming around in a pack? No thanks.

Winning to me means making this shit stop and not continuing to act like this is “normal”. It’s not and it’ll never end if everyone just keeps going about their day.

This video to me is the essence of what ICE has been put in power to do.  To straight up inflict FEAR to ALL Americans. Give it to a look as to what happened to a paster moments after  Renee Good was killed.

    https://youtu.be/PyncB-hBhMo?si=tB-2v0hEWPKGRlGR

Her famous last words: I'm NOT MAD AT YOU.
I hope we never forget those words.

    ✌️

Wake the fuck up America.  Only the very wealthiest or someone who is one of the hired thugs, are likely to be immune to this kind of treatment.  The rest of us (people of color, of course, more so) are at risk of intimidation, harm, or even death.
Tell me this is doom saying. Tell my this is hyperbole. Tell me I'm exaggerating.  I don't care.  I know that's not true and I know everyone knows it too.

One can dream because we’re living the nightmare and it may already be too late. Waaaaaaaay too late.

I'd like to go back to what you said that I put in bold for a minute.  I think that's a very good point.  I've done several of the protests (but not today due to health issues),  and they are encouraging, but I think you are right--  I don't think they've moved the needle anywhere nearly enough.  And I wonder at what point do they/will they become highly dangerous?  A general strike sounds a lot more effective.  But how likely is it that enough people would participate?  I'm not even sure what the predicted percentage of participation for it to be effective is.  Any idea?
