Disney Vacations

That's me. When we have done Orlando have usually stayed in a place on 192 about a mile from the entrance to Magic Kingdom, Parkway International Resort. When we went in early December (when my kid was young enough that we didn't mind taking him out of school), we'd pay like $65 a night plus taxes for a fully furnished 2-bedroom condo. Was great value. Meant we needed a rent-a-car and had to pay for parking but worked out much cheaper than staying at a Disney property, plus I always want to have a car on vacation anyway.tempo_n_groove said:

3 hour waits during what is considered the busiest time of the year(the holidays). Today, an average Tuesday at the park? You're gonna wait an hour for the Big Attractions. Which really isn't horrible.tempo_n_groove said:
GREAT story!SPEEDY MCCREADY said:
We walk up to Ride of Resistance yesterday ONLY because I wanted to see what a 3 hour wait looked like. I walk up to the cast member and ask, "no single rider line?". He smiles and replies, "great timing!".Poncier said:SPEEDY MCCREADY said:
3 Caballeros(Boat ride in Mexico pavilion)
Best ride in the place.
He then calls out his fellow cast member who is only 5 feet away, yet walking in a different direction. We are told to follow the other guy.
So at 2pm, they just were opening a single rider line! We were the 1st 3 single riders!
We avoided a 3 hour wait and were on that ride in 5 minutes.
Completely changed our outlook on the rest of the day. We were "high fiving" like we won Super Bowl tickets. We got off that ride, I bought us a round of popcorn, water and diet cokes, and off we went for another 8 hours.
A few of my cousins are going and are spending 10G on rooms, parks and flights. There are 6 of them so its not that crazy I guess?
Last time I went in 09 you could buy a multi hopper pass for under 400. Fast passes were a blessing to jump in front of the lines. They had Pleasure island and Cirque de solei on the grounds too. It also wasn't that crowded. Wonder what the crowds are like now with these 3 hour wait times...
My wife and I would drop $5k minimum over the last 10-15 years, on each Dusney trip. We would always stay at a Disney resort, usually a value resort. Plus we got park hopper passes for the length of our stay. We always tried to go when Disney was offering their Free Dining Plan.
So $10k, for 6 people, is not bad at all.
Work hard.
Play hard.
Fuck what it costs.
Ya only live once.
They love staying in the resorts on the park. I'm cheap, I'll stay in kissimee.
I have never met anyone that was a CLub 33 member. You come across any Speedy?
A McDonald's happy meal is $65!! HahaTake me piece by piece.....

And that was during supposedly one of the slowest times for Orlando, first week of December. This weekend we rock Portland0 -
I got engaged at Disneyland in 2009 at Mickey's house in Toontown. You basically wait in line to get a photo with Mickey.
When it came to be our turn, I got down on one knee and proposed. Luckily, she said yes!
I then turned to Mickey and advised him if that if she would have said "no", I would have gone for Minnie!
He was not happy!0 -

Yep its Tokyo, everything is packed! Especially around the New Year. But the wait times are not that bad. They keep it moving. And the food is really good. But knowing my wife, they smuggled in sandwiches from the 7-11, Family Mart or Lawson (which are amazing by the way).0 -
I love watching the families who bring their own food into the parks. Each and every one of us is in a different place when it comes to finances. I try my best not to judge, because you just don't know anyone's financial situation. Anyway, the mom and dad who make the sandwiches for the family and bring in the juice boxes? RIGHT ON! SAVING HUNDREDS to maybe spend on a kids favorite Disney toy or sweatshirt. And honestly the kids would rather have a PB&J anyway.Get_Right said:SPEEDY MCCREADY said:Ummm

We know friends who come down here with a big family and stay at a campsite. But dammit they make a Disney Vacation happen! And Good For Them! They have done it this way for well over a decadeTake me piece by piece.....

^ I agree Speedy! That is sort of our approach to these trips. They go twice a year, occasionally three times, and those trips are pricey. Why pay $30 for mediocre noodles when you can have a kick ass katsu sando (look it up) for less than $10. They had a great disney experience. This was their fifth visit. They have never been to Orlando.0
