  • Our Disney Dining reservations:
    Sunday - Steakhouse 71
Monday - Tusker House (character dining)
    Tuesday - Ohana
Wednesday - Crystal Palace (character dining)
    Thursday - Roundup Rodeo BBQ
    Friday - Yak & Yeti

All in all, pretty happy with this lineup. After seeing the Teppan Edo suggestion, I would have loved to try it, but they really didn't have anything my son would want to eat. Wound up dropping Le Cellier after finding out it was 2 dining plan meals. If I was going to spend 2 somewhere, it would be at the Yachtsman.
    That's a GREAT LINEUP!!

    I'm looking forward to it!

If Crystal Palace wasn't a character event, that would not have been chosen. That was really the only one I was on the fence with. The rest we've either eaten at before or was recommended by family or friends.
Our "Go To" character meal is at Cape May at the Yacht and Beach Club. Just a GREAT breakfast buffet. Been doing that place for 30 years.

Crystal Palace is fantastic too. We have done that place a gazillion times. Love it!

    100% agree
    Yachtsman over Le Cellier.

That makes me feel better about Crystal Palace. I looked at the menu and was a little underwhelmed.

I do love good biscuits and gravy, but this is going to be an evening meal. I think it's fried chicken, roast beef, or shrimp creole for the entrees.

It's pretty wild just how much that guy resembles Depp. We were up close, right on top of the guy

So, all you gotta do is get through the Holidays, and its off to The House Of The Mouse!!!
Officially 1 month until our trip starts! I am ready to see my son's reaction to it all. He knows we're going, but doesn't quite grasp that this is a big, exciting trip.
  • A friend of mine is here with his 13 year old daughter and we did the parks yesterday. The absolute BUSIEST I have personally ever seen the parks. They tried for lightning lanes earlier in the week, but that didn't happen. So I picked them up at 830am and we were in Epcot by 9am. The line for Guardians was already 160 minutes. I was more than willing to wait, but they passed.
I asked them to trust me, and even if we can't do all the BIG RIDES, I would guarantee them a good time.

    Our day
    Epcot
    Soarin
3 Caballeros(Boat ride in Mexico pavilion)
    Figment
Boat over to Swan and Dolphin resort for great lunch and ice cream
    Boat to Hollywood Studios
Rise of the Resistance (incredible luck)
    Star Tours
    Skyliner to Epcot
    Turtle talk with Crush
    Finding Nemo
    Monorail to Magic Kingdom
    Parade (Great view!!)
    Pirates of the Caribbean
    Haunted Mansion
    Dinner
    Fireworks
    Bus back to Epcot
    Car ride to their hotel

    14 hours!!!!!

  • It was just insanely busy with 2-3 hour wait times for all the bigger attractions. Couldn't believe even Spaceship Earth was close to 90 minutes.
Toy Story land was RIDICULOUS TOO, so we didn't even attempt that nonsense.

Ratatouille was doable but was DOWN the 2 times we went over there.
My friend didn't want to wait for FROZEN either.(He should have waited).YOUR HERE, It might be years before you come back! Just wait in the damn line!! But oh well.

    I did my best.
But I have never seen it so busy.
Leaving Magic Kingdom at night was CRAZY!!!
There were THOUSANDS of people in line for the Ferry Boats and Monorail. Easily people were waiting hours.  I knew a much better option and had us on a bus in 5 minutes.

We visited a couple of years at this time back when my kid was middle school age (around 9-10 yrs ago). It was insane. Tomorrow will be the worst (New Year's Eve). First time we did the trip at this time we arrived in FLA on 12/30, and our first park day was 12/31. Magic Kingdom was closed off and at full capacity by noon. We went to Epcot. Complete insanity. They did 2 New Year's shows on the lagoon, one early (Like 7:00) for young kids who couldn't hang till midnight then a second at midnight. We were trying to get some dinner around 6 and you couldn't walk in the world showcase area there were so many folks already camped out in spots for the 7:00 show. Only good thing that year was my kid's school for whatever reason took 2 full weeks off for Christmas break, so he didn't go back till like January 6, and most schools were starting back on 1/2, so we were staying until 1/5. 1/1 was busy then things got quite pleasantly quiet for 1/2-1/4.
Next 2 years we did Hollywood Studios on 12/31. Still very crowded but much less so than Epcot (and for sure Magic Kingdom). After that I made the executive decision to change to summer visit and switch to California (didn't want to deal with August Orlando humidity).

We walk up to Ride of Resistance yesterday ONLY because I wanted to see what a 3 hour wait looked like. I walk up to the cast member and ask, "no single rider line?". He smiles and replies, "great timing!".
He then calls out his fellow cast member who is only 5 feet away, yet walking in a different direction. We are told to follow the other guy.

So at 2pm, they just were opening a single rider line! We were the 1st 3 single riders!

We avoided a 3 hour wait and were on that ride in 5 minutes.

Completely changed our outlook on the rest of the day. We were "high fiving" like we won Super Bowl tickets. We got off that ride, I bought us a round of popcorn, water and diet cokes, and off we went for another 8 hours.
