1 month until we can sign up for restaurant reservations. We're going to have 6 table service meals and my wife already has the restaurants ranked. Deciding on an extra character dining event or 2 could alter those rankings though.
What restaurants do you plan on hitting?
The ones I hope we get are Ohana and Le Cellier. Tucker House for breakfast is currently the leader for character dining. Outside of those, I'm not sure what's on her list.
    Ohana is ridiculously good.

    Planning Disney meals is fun.
    Period.
    Haha
Yes, love Ohana! We ate there last time. The noodles and teriyaki beef are worth the dining plan alone lol.

Meal planning in general can be a little difficult for us. Our son has some food allergies we have to work around, but they are surprisingly helpful. They've given us some recommendations to look at and provided allergy information for all their restaurants.

My wife was BUMMED last week when we did Ohana. She asked for a to go box, as we have done before, and we found out that the to go box is no longer offered.
My wife always leaves with those noodles!

    Well, not anymore. Hahaha

    The noodles
    The shrimp
    The beef
    The salad kicks ass.

Ranty: Anybody else here felt Aulani was quite underwhelming? Got a couple nights for the price of 1 from a cc reward. Was my daughter's birthday weekend (pre-schooler). $900/night for rooms that I can compare to $200/night hotels here, ok amenities, lagoon was great for keikis but packed, food was not great and $$$, spoiled kids having meltdowns everywhere, people arguing over pool chairs, lines to go see characters at certain time slots (none in sight otherwise)... To see Disney characters at a Disney resort! If guests pay $900 a night, shouldn't characters be roaming the place at least during the day. We ended-up checking-out after 1 night and got refunded essentially what I paid for the stay considering 1 night was free. It was just not worth it. Took the kids to another beach and got ice cream and they had the same amount of enjoyment, if not more.

Idk if it's bec we live here so the Hawaii allure was not there, or bec we're not familiar with Disney vacays... but if I paid full price and got that experience, I would have a lot of regret paying that much.
  • Looks like it will be Thanksgiving in Disney! We had planned on flying back home to see her family, but the whole airport situation is a disaster. Even if they get everyone back to work and things get much better, I still don't want to fly for Thanksgiving.

    I'll fly back for Christmas.

Next week you can make your reservations?

Has your wife finalized the restaurant choices?

    Yes, next Wednesday.

I think she's settled on 4 of the 6. She keeps wavering on the other 2. My 2 requests are in that 4, so I'm just ready to make a decision and have backups ready, if necessary.

When the reservations are all set, please give me a list. Just because my wife and I have spent countless hours over the last almost 30 years planning Disney trips!

I wanna see someone else's game plan.

Been hoping to go to Disneyland for the holiday season but just saw that they have raised the price of a daily one-park admission to $224 for much of December.

They do, however, have a 3-day park hopper promotion for California residents.

From the DL website:  Coming Soon! Save over 50% on a 3-Day Park Hopper Ticket to enjoy both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park for just $83 per day, $249 total. Visit on 3 days from January 1 through May 21, 2026. Tickets may be used on nonconsecutive days.

  • Yeah. That's Disney.

Stay longer, and they will reduce the Park admission considerably.

I suggest Teppan Edo at Epcot. Very good value for the money (at least when I ate there 3.5 years ago).

The food and wine festival ends in 3 days.
    No more booze and escargot.
Plus the filet for $10 will be missed.

    Our Disney Dining reservations:
    Sunday - Steakhouse 71
Monday - Tusker House (character dining)
    Tuesday - Ohana
Wednesday - Crystal Palace (character dining)
    Thursday - Roundup Rodeo BBQ
    Friday - Yak & Yeti

All in all, pretty happy with this lineup. After seeing the Teppan Edo suggestion, I would have loved to try it, but they really didn't have anything my son would want to eat. Wound up dropping Le Cellier after finding out it was 2 dining plan meals. If I was going to spend 2 somewhere, it would be at the Yachtsman.

    I'm looking forward to it!

If Crystal Palace wasn't a character event, that would not have been chosen. That was really the only one I was on the fence with. The rest we've either eaten at before or was recommended by family or friends.
