Swedish researchers created vaccine eliminating peanut allergies permanently after single injection changing lives 🥜

A single shot that erases peanut allergies forever sounds impossible, but Karolinska Institute scientists have done exactly that. After one injection, patients with life-threatening peanut allergies can eat peanuts safely within weeks—no more EpiPens, no more label reading, no more fear. The first trial participants are now eating peanut butter sandwiches after years of avoidance.

The vaccine uses modified nanoparticles carrying peanut proteins combined with immune-regulating molecules that retrain your immune system to recognize peanuts as harmless. Traditional allergy treatments expose you to tiny amounts repeatedly; this approach reprograms the actual immune cells causing the reaction. The nanoparticles target specific T-cells and regulatory cells, essentially teaching your body's defense system that peanut proteins aren't invaders. It's like installing a software update that fixes a bug in your immune system's threat detection.

Peanut allergies affect 1-3% of children worldwide and have tripled in the past 20 years—we don't know why. Current treatments require years of carefully controlled exposure with constant risk of severe reactions. This single-dose cure means children can attend school without segregated lunch tables, parents can stop living in constant vigilance, and accidental exposures stop being potentially fatal. The technology also shows promise for other food allergies including tree nuts, shellfish, and dairy.

Phase II trial results show 89% of participants achieved complete tolerance, eating 4-5 peanuts without any reaction after a single injection. The effects have remained stable for over two years in early trial participants with no signs of wearing off. If we can cure one allergy with a single shot, what other immune system "errors" could we fix the same way?

I wonder, if the vaccines are the same between countries?

  • It said on the news because this is a new mutation it's not in this year's vaccines because they are formulated in February from that last year's strain. So it's causing hospitalisation here and mask mandates are rightly in place in lots of hospitals and medical settings now.

  • This looks to be very serious. As I speak an ambulance is in my street for a  3 year old . And last week a child of 6 died two streets away from this new strain of the flu.
    This is some scary shit

As the winter season fully kicks in, it’s expected that people across the country will get sick. Except this time, a new variant of the influenza virus has sounded the alarm — and earned the nickname “super flu.” https://www.nbc4i.com/news/u-s-world/super-flu-cases-rising-across-us-what-to-know/?utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook_NBC4

  • I don't know what my daughter caught, but she is not compromised, healthy as an ox, super fit, and she's been sick nearly a month. the first couple weeks she missed days of school and shifts of her new job, and she NEVER misses anything willingly.

of course my wife feels horrendously guilty as she had been trying to schedule the flu shots and could never find a good time with all our schedules. who knows if it would have even made a difference, but anyway, it is a bastard.

I wish someone had told me about the RSV before I came down with RSV two weeks ago.  I did my 10 days quarantine and am on the mend, but the after affects are long lasting.  The virus itself was horrible.

So let this serve as a heads up.  You don't want RSV.

Oh boy that sucks Brian I’m shocked RSV went under your radar! When I decided to go back to work per-diem I had to go through the whole process of being a new hire so when Employee health offered me the RSV shot I took it.
hope you get back to 💯 % soon

    lovely.

Health officials have identified cases of measles at two major U.S. airports — Newark Liberty International in New Jersey and Boston Logan International in Massachusetts — as holiday travel surges. A traveler with the highly infectious virus was confirmed at Newark on Dec. 12, and another measles case was linked to a Boston Logan arrival from Texas, prompting contact tracing and warnings for potentially exposed passengers. Measles can linger in the air for up to two hours and is preventable through vaccination, public health experts say.
