i know the rules around here. i would never say "fuck you" or "go fuck yourself" to anybody on here. i don't remember what i said, but i promise you 100% it wasn't that.Ledbetterman10 said:
Not sure if they make posts disappear, but the mods definitely edit posts. Or at least I caught them doing it once. Here’s a screenshot from election night. Gimmesometruth was having a rough night as you may imagine, and when I dismissed his claim that “the game is rigged,” he responded either “Fuck you” or “Go fuck yourself” (can’t remember which) before the rest of his post. Notice how it says “edited by Kat” at the bottom. She removed the profanity.nicknyr15 said:When I comb through closed threads it seems as if shitty posts disappear? So...I did not know they disappeared. I've seen them edited with a note before. And, speaking from experience, if they edit your post, at least with me, I often got a pm warning, unsure if it always occurs. I would think they are trying to be consistent with that. But we have several posters still around every day so I am not sure we are all held to the same standard every time. But, to be fair, it could be difficult to do.nicknyr15 said:When I comb through closed threads it seems as if shitty posts disappear? Yeah interestingly enough, I had a new thread closed and a message to not start another thread about a topic under review cause they will just re-open it once cleaned up and do not want multiple threads. So should be careful.DE4173 said:Some get "closed for review," yet never reopened. 🤷♂️

The moderation here is…interesting, to put it mildly, based on my own recent experiences.
The claim at the top that we’re big on respect here isn’t applied equally, with vulgarity being the apparent tipping point (sometimes).

So why do some get permanently banned and others don’t regardless of numerous warnings? I’m genuinely curious. I’ve seen some here “in jail” numerous times and still not permanently banned.Gern Blansten said:

i think if you have multiple infractions it adds up. also if you sprack off to a mod in the pm to you, it likely does not help your chances. that is my guess though. i was in jail a few times over the years and i always got a pm from a mod and that led to discussion where i was wrong and i just apply the lessons i learned when i was in trouble. it's really not that hard to not get a permaban.nicknyr15 said:

i don't know if that is 100% the case, but i do know most people that get a permaban have had multiple warnings, some had some short term jail stints, some did not change their posting behavior after repeated warnings. there were a few people that showed up for a few days and threw a bunch of bombs in here and didn't last too long. my guess is disrespecting mods in the pms, or not doing what was asked of them. i have been given the option to edit my own post one time but that was back in 2009 or 2010, so it has been a while. i went back and edited it and it was no longer in violation. the best way to stay out of trouble is to try not to break the rules.nicknyr15 said:

That’s where the mods could communicate more clearly. I got a dm from them and when I replied accepting my punishment I was instantly banned with nothing stating it was temporary, lending the strong impression it was permanent.gimmesometruth27 said:

It remains astounding to me how many personally demeaning comments are allowed to stand around here, hence my mocking of the “respect” admonishment in the sticky post. The rules are not applied consistently, and the impression of impartiality is blown out of the water when the moderators participate directly in conversations. I always thought they were supposed to remain above the fray, objective. Silly me.
Edit: I won’t be surprised if this post gets me in trouble for being critical of the moderators. I’d love to be wrong about that though.Post edited by DarthMaeglin on"The world is full of idiots and I am but one of them."

Oh poor, poor baby. Biggest snowflake of a cult of snowflakes. Waaaaaah, I just wanted to have dinner. What a loser. Go to jail for exercising your right to free speech? Where did I wake up, North Korea?
Trump wants to target liberal groups and protesters with a decades-old law once used against the mob
He also suggested RICO charges could be brought against people protesting his recent appearance at a restaurant to promote his crime crackdown in the nation’s capital. “They should be put in jail,” he said.
Asked by CNN’s Kaitlan Collins on Tuesday night about Trump’s comments, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche responded: “Is it, again, sheer happenstance that individuals show up at a restaurant where the president is trying to enjoy dinner in Washington, DC, and accost him with vile words and vile anger and meanwhile he’s simply trying to have dinner?”
“To the extent that it’s part of an organized effort to inflict harm and terror and damage to the United States, there’s potential investigations there,” Blanche said.
