Just read an old article wherin charlie kirk called for a true American patriot to bail out paul pelosis attacker.  I'm so confused how there is any sympathy for this guy.
Because he was a human with 2 small kids?
How much empathy have you shown to e.g. Bin Ladins kids? He had even more than two. Just tell me, how much since 2011?

When Obama said "we got him" or whatever, how much thought went to his kids with all of the sympathy and empathy you have for everyone and their children?

Or use some other example than Bin Ladin, if you haven't been watching Zero Dark Thirty lately.
I wasn’t aware that Kirk was an international terrorist responsible for starting wars and killing thousands of innocent civilians. Do you have a link to that? I’d be interested in learning more.
but now you're assigning a slope to when murder is appropriate and when it's not. either it's wrong or it's not. you just think you are at the correct spot at the slope, and now maligning someone else for being on a different spot on that slope.
We were at war and Bin Laden started it. Do you really think that’s the same thing as Kirk’s assassination? One was a war time criminal and international terrorist taken out by the world’s leading military force. The other was an unarmed civilian, not responsible for any wars or deaths, taken out by another civilian. Very huge difference there.
One was military action as the result of a war he started, the other was cold murder.
I wouldn’t even classify Bin Laden murder. Was it murder when we invaded Normandy in wwii and stopped the nazis?

Moot string of words there. And you know it.
No. You compared Charlie Kirk to Bin Laden. That’s ridiculous and you know it.

You seem to play around to not see the forrest for two trees that are moot in regards to the point made.

But if it's hard for you to grasp that--

    --you have my sympathy.

Weird that you have not felt any sympathy for Bin Ladins children and wife/s though who lost a father and a husband... why is that I wonder.

Never said I didn’t. And I never said I have sympathy for Kirk’s kids either (although I do).
You said you don’t understand how people can have sympathy for his assassination. I responded because he was a human with 2 kids. While I do have empathy for his family, I don’t believe I expressed it here.
I don’t need to express empathy for every single situation on this forum. I have empathy for the family of the girl stabbed in the train, I don’t think I expressed that either.
Osama had lots of wives and kids. Some followed his steps, some didn’t, and some were too young to have made their own path. I have empathy for all his kids who chose a different path than their father. I don’t need to express it on this forum for it to be real. There are many, many things that happen in the world that affect me in different ways, and only a very small fraction of them are discussed here. I’m not sure what point you were trying to make or why you would assume I didn’t have empathy for his kids because I didn’t discuss it 15 years ago.

I also just saw the clip that got the guy fired. What a totally anodyne thing to can a guy over. yikes.

Dowd? Yeah it was kind of bullshit
disagree. saying on national tv after a guy gets assassinated "You can’t say these awful words and not expect awful actions to take place.". That is deeply irresponsible and you should get fired over that.

after being asked about the enviroment we are in? not speaking directly on kirk, in general?

I have my own opinions on the cause of 9/11, which didn't start with Al Queda, same as Oct 7 didn't start with Hamas. Terrorists aren't born, they are created. By a combination of factors. But that's a whole other conversation, so I'll leave that one be.

MY point, is that I am not required to feel anything for a POS that is dead to be a good person. I do feel bad for his wife and kids. Absolutely. But to feel bad that a hateful piece of garbage that barely stopped short of advocating for violence against non-whites/heterosexuals is dead? Nah.

The disgust and sympathy comes from a place of is this where we’re at? Murdering anyone who has a differing opinion? No matter how bad?

empathy for the family is one thing. .....

    lets not conflate the two.

edit, empathy and sympathy for the kids is one thing, as they had no choice in who their parents are. SHE had a choice and knew who he was.

That’s fine and no one is calling you a bad person for feeling that way (and I know you didn’t claim anyone did). I feel different about those gloating over this though.
But some people are troubled anytime anyone is murdered in cold blood and it’s easy to see how this assassination troubles a lot of people. Especially in the way he did, at an event on campus and shot through the neck like he was in front of a large crowd. I can understand why people feel bad for him, which was the original question.

I watched that “debate” last night. I only partially agree with that. He said abortion was worse in terms of pure numbers. He admitted the holocaust was worse when you considered it targeted specific groups and tried to eliminate a whole ethnic group. But I agree it’s dumb to compare just about anything to the holocaust.

  • The children obviously you feel sympathy towards. Their pain must be unimaginable right now.

But that is not the same as having to feel sympathy or empathy for a person like Kirk. I rather put that empathy to use for all animals who's harmed in the world (by a lot of you people). Or people who are kind-of-good to good and try to do good.

So I don't mean to ask stupid questions, but we know the rifle was found in the woods.  So why isn't he carrying it here?  Seem like it should be in his hands.

Do you know if this video was taken before or after?  Do we know if he stashed it somewhere earlier?  I know we don't like to wait for info and even then many don't believe what they are told, but we should probably wait for the conclusion of the investigation.
i would guess before. the clenching of his fists to me suggests tension or anxiety. i think he would be running for his life in this pic if it were afterward.

Can you please point to me where I said you should?
Someone asked why anyone would. I said because he had 2 small kids. Seems reasonable that some people would have sympathy for that. Someone asked a question. I answered. Now you’re inserting words into my answer.

Nothing says somberness and reflection of 9/11 and your true patriot friend like attending a baseball game at Yankee stadium.
