    1) Just get rid of them. Focus more on guns than drugs. I have said it before. Cops in Japan do not even carry guns. Because there is zero tolerance. Just get rid of them. Guns equal crime and death.
No, people who are mentally ill and have never been trained in proper gun usage and ownership equal crime and death.  Somehow none of my guns, or guns owned by a hundred friends and acquaintances have ever been used for a crime much less used improperly at all.  Weird. But just to make you guys happy, I will sit down with my guns tonight and have another talk with them. Just to be safe.

    1) Just get rid of them and then mental health is a non-issue. Easier to eliminate guns than control the mental health of millions of people.
Edit: Start with handguns. Keep your camo mossberg.
2)True, but then there will be a lot of cowards that won’t feel safe without the ability to kill somebody at any moment.

It is no secret that the US has one, if not the highest, gun related homicide rate amongst developed nations. 1) Fewer guns means less shooting. It is not complicated math. The only reason to allow guns is because other people have guns. Just get rid of them all.

Unfortunately, it will not change anytime soon and I am not sure there is a way to repair what has already been allowed. Politicians have tried and failed time and time again. I go back to my Japan example. You can get a hunting rifle after extensive background checks, but no handguns for civilians. Ever. They have crime, but less people die.
    1) Well, getting rid of them would be against the Constitution and isn't logically intelligent.  Stop whining about illegals being deported without due process if you don't support the Constitution.  I don't have a handgun (yet...TBD), or a camo Mossberg.  I have a single barrel, hammer action shotgun with a beautifully polished barrel.

Once again, leftists don't understand if you take guns away, criminals keep theirs.  Non-criminals would lose their legal guns that they don't commit crime with.

Want to stop drunk drivers from killing sober drivers? Take cars away from sober drivers. That's how gun control works.

    2) What an embarrassing, untrue, and ignorant thing to say.  YOU are the reason so many of us don't intend to vote for a Dem any time soon. As soon as Dem culture stops blaming victims for things while defending the criminal, maybe we can win elections again.

No, take away the alcohol to stop drunk drivers. Keep your shotgun. Keep your hunting rifle. But make them harder to obtain. Any idiot can walk into a gun store and walk out dangerously armed with more firepower than any person needs. There were no semi automatics when the second amendment was enacted. They used muskets and powder pistols to protect their land. Get rid of all handguns, semi automatics, hollow points etc., and large magazines. This is not a political position, it is a human position that should cross party lines. There is no ignorance in seeing that the US has more gun violence than any other country. Just get rid of them. I would rather see a crackdown on guns than a crackdown on immigrants. And I have never whined about due process not being afforded to illegal immigrants. That issue is a different discussion.
We do take alcohol and guns away.  If you are a felon, you can't own/possess a gun. Get a few DWIs, they will put you on probation and slap a tether on you which will detect if you use alcohol.   Taking things away from innocent people is never the answer.

I agree with all your regulations. Let's ban assault rifles and bump stocks too. Not sure about handguns. I'm fine with them if they are kept at home, or on a firing range.  There should be no open carry and people taking them in public.  That's ridiculous.
totally agree there....I honestly don't understand how the national police group isn't vocally opposed to open carry
There are times and places where open carry is fine. Like hiking in a place where wildlife can be a threat, or if you are jewelry store owner and are transferring large amounts of items and cash from a show to your car (my dad knew a jewelry store owner who was robbed doing just that, and defended himself with his gun).
But just walking through Walmart with an open carry, that's just weird.

    Knife murders per 100,000:

    USA, USA, USA: 0.46 (2023)

    Gun murders per 100,000:

    CND: 0.72 (2023)
    USA, USA, USA: 5.6 (2023)

’murica’s gun murders more than make up for, and then some, Canada’s advantage in knife murders but please, do go on.
You can also argue that if you give everyone in Canada a gun, you would see their knife murders plummet.
And their gun murders catch up to ‘Muricas. Makes total sense.
I'd rather get shot to death than stabbed to death, personally.

Let's do some further statistical breakdown:  someone a number of pages back said we have 23,000 gun deaths a year.  I'll round it up to 24,000 for easy math.

2/3rds are suicide, dropping it to just 8,000 murders via guns.  50% are African-Americans killing mostly other African-Americans (which Liberals don't seem to care about, and I find that fascinating).  Which leaves a grand total of 4,000 gun murders per year by all the other demographic groups in the country, combined. In a country of 350 million.   .0011% of the population.  Lower than that when you factor in, not all of the 4,000 gun murders were committed by 4,000 different people.
Total number of gun deaths in the US is closer to 47,000. Why don’t repubs care about suicides in rural ‘Murica? Seems weird to me.
I went with the numbers I saw posted earlier, your number seems accurate after looking it up myself.  Ok, double the % of firearm deaths.  .0022% of the population killed by guns.  Less than that doing the killing, as some people kill more than one.  That's not ok, but it is what it is.  Better than the alternative in my opinion.

Well, this ought to be good for our division. I hate that guy but I hate this shit even more.
Exactly.  I hate that guy.  But he has a family and the right to talk.  God I hate guns...more than Charlie Kirk.

I don't wish injury for him but he's a complete idiot and he promotes hatred. These people that constantly call their opponents stupid, etc., are really just asking for a response like this.
Asking to get killed? For calling their opponent stupid? Are you joking? Most of you are on this site daily calling right wing voters dumb , stupid and uneducated. Should they kill one of you? WTF am I misunderstanding?
