Yea... my money is on the new Soundgarden material. If he was retiring this message would've been a retirement announcement. I guess its possible he could be the new Foo Fighters drummer... Seems like a weird fit but sure.
I would not prefer Josh K on drums... I think I would want someone who is mostly known for drums. Josh is more a jack of all trades.Randall's Island, NY 9/29/1996, Randall's Island, NY 6/8/1997 (Ed and Mike), Jones Beach, NY 8/23/2000, Los Angeles, CA 7/10/2006, Hartford, CT 6/27/2008, Los Angeles, CA 10/6/2009, San Diego, CA 11/21/2013, Los Angeles, CA 11/24/2013, MSG, NY 5/1/2016, Seattle, WA 8/10/2018, Los Angeles, CA 5/6/2022, Los Angeles, CA 5/7/2022, Camden, NJ 9/14/2022, St Paul 8/31/2023, St Paul 9/2/2023, Las Vegas 5/18/24, MSG NY 9/3/24, Philadelphia PA 9/9/24, Ohana CA 9/27/24, Atlanta, GA 4/29/25, Pittsburgh, PA 5/16/25, Pittsburgh, PA 5/18/250 -
If Soundgarden is reforming then that is really exciting. Would definitely change my mood about his departure.Seattle 1992, Seattle 1992, Seattle 1993, Seattle 1995, Seattle 1996, Seattle 1998, Seattle 2001, Seattle 2002, Seattle 2005, Gorge 2006, Seattle 2009, Seattle 2013, Chicago 2016 x2, Seattle 2018 x2, San Diego 2022, Nashville 2022, Seattle 2022 - Eddie Vedder0

aspoonfulweighsaton said:Zero question the band continues because why would they go to the trouble to announce this and not the end of the band? I agree with whoever said this was probably in the works for a while. It’s sad for sure as I feel his imprint on the band is irreplaceable, but I am excited to see what direction they go in at the same time.0

Gern Blansten said:Get_Right said:I am afraid this not just the end of Matt, but of the band's live shows. How do you replace Matt Cameron? Answer: you don't. Anything else will feel contrived. That's just me.
They have replaced drummers before. This one seems harder than the others. We all know Jeff hates touring. And we all know Ed loves playing. I see solo shows, Earthlings and maybe some other mix, but I would be very surprised to see more Pearl Jam dates. I hope I am wrong.0 -
Thank you MFC, best wishes to your future endeavors!

Hope I’m wrong but part of me thinks this was more sudden/recent than most of the comments. If they knew in Pittsburgh why wait 2 months to announce? Wouldn’t they have wanted to honor and send him off on stage with the fans?0

Who knows, maybe he got sick of looking at Ed's fedora & football jersey combo, IDK.0 -
Nothing but love for Matt and everything he brought to the band. Best wishes for whatever is next.0
