    THE REAL question to me

is this crew wealthy or piss poor.... =)

Seams like one or the other....I always say us middle/ upper middles are always getting fucked by those 2 demographics

I can promise you the piss poor aren't fucking you or anyone else over. Be an adult.
    I have compassion/empathy....also have eyes/ears and a brain.
I’m very skeptical of that last bit.
Awww pooo baby, I hurt your sensibilities …. Obviously didn’t mean all poor people, same as all rich people…. Which you only mentioned poor in your response… only defending them. if you wanted to be correct you would have said both aren’t all bad… it was more of a battle cry to middle class getting more of the shaft

my comment wasn’t against anyone trying to pull themselves up… but yours kinda says they are all there cause of someone else… like no one’s working the system from top or bottom

that was my brain comment… that you have to call it on both sides… Mr president who brags he doesn’t pay taxes, and the left wing mob that cause all kinds of problems in let’s say Portland.. take up a cause just in “ technicalities “ to rage against being lazy

    those poor people

The ones who smoke bongs still after college too 🤣 or is that off limits too… cause Potvreally motivates, I tell ya

I know this country has systematic levers that have kept people down, I’m more speaking on  privilege  run a muck … Society isn’t trending well, look at how the college occupations last summer went sideways… why a certain someone is president . I didn’t vote for him, but I understand how it happened

i've seen them 52 times. never had rail. never wanted rail because i hate standing in line. i'd rather hang out at a bar with my friends and walk in 10 minutes before showtime. my life doesn't revolve around the band and my time is too valuable for me to waste it standing in a ga line. i guarantee i have had just as much fun as the people down front, and that's ok.

people have their thing. some like the rail, some don't. its all good.
I went to 8 shows during the DM tour.  Didn't see one opening act... oops lol
You missed out if any of them were the western shows with Deep Sea Diver. I watched their set ten times, loved it every time, and now have a favorite "new" band.
I did not enjoy them much. Nor the sweatpants teasers. Average at best for both.

Again, just for me. Josh K I loved, so maybe my musical tastes are … unique.
I loved him too! Fight for the Soul is 👌 and that cover of Nutshell

You should see the PIT at a Rollings Stones show.

Just make it a random assignment day of show.  This occurred in Austin in 2023. The ability for a fan to maybe get upfront just once in their touring days should not be predicated by sleeping on the street.  Frankly GA should get booted altogether, it’s become a regular occurrence where someone or a few someone's collapse during the show.  If GA remains they need to do a check on people's heart rate and intoxication before they get a wrist band.
I love that the band cares enough about the fans to stop the show, but god dammit almost every show gets interrupted anymore.

I agree it’s time to get rid of GA. Just go back to seats and make the first 3 rows random. And filter everyone else in accordingly.

The entitlement that comes with all those same people being up front every show need not be spoken. We all know.

  • I was so happy when pearl jam became comfortable enough to do GA again. I was 7 or 8 rows back in Quebec 22 and was having the time of my life. I never thought I would be able to see pj that close up, so to be a few more feet up close really doesn't matter. As much as it was hard, especially in my first few tours, to get close to the action, at least my indie roots meant I could be up front to see my other musical heroes like Ian Mackaye and Thurston & Kim. Like Eddie said in Albany "It's always the same fucking people.." haha

Just went to my first DMB show of the summer this week and again have been reminded how much I hate the pit lottery. I mean unless you like people shuffling in and out all night depending on how popular the current song is, saving enough space for their groups of friends to then have loud conversations throughout the entire show, the streamers from the Couch Tour Facebook group who hold their phones up above their head all night, someone else even FaceTimed their friend at home who didn’t mute themself and would occasionally scream, beer runs, bathroom runs, constantly switching spaces with or fitting in friends who materialize randomly, blank stares and boredom when deeper cuts or new songs are played, and my personal favorite: taking group selfies during the show. I can go on.

It’s a different crowd and vibe when all you have to do is show up at doors, I’ve watched it happen over the past few years with DMB and it’ll just create different problems to complain about.

The best part and reason it’s worth it to me to line up for rail is the complete immersion into the show you get when there’s no one in front of you. No one you have to keep moving out of the way of, or listen to. You could be at a stadium or a club, everything behind you doesn’t exist for 2 hours and the people around you only register when syncing up your jumping. I was next to different people at every show this tour and no one tried to talk to me during songs, no one tried to shove in between, or left, or took a phone call, or messed with their FanDuel lineup during React Respond. There were so many posts and comments on social media this tour about fans being annoyed by having their show affected by people who didn’t seem to care that they were at the show at all, and for PJ the rail is totally 100% immune from encountering those kinds of people. Not so much for DMB anymore because they win the lottery now.

Also for those who missed what Ed said in Pitt:

”The dedication so many folks have shown. There’s signs - 101 shows. 39 shows. Just a lotta nice nice things. For all the people that see multiple shows and keep us on our toes. And we got the light on the front row here. Thank you. We’re gonna miss you. More importantly we know you’re gonna miss each other.  Be safe. And be good until we see you again.”

Only saw DMB once, Gorge 2008. My wife desperately had to pee once during the show and I’ve never seen anyone so offended as the guy beside us. “You’re leaving during Jimmy Thing?!?” 🤣

Look. While I’ll give you that the sentiment probably extends to all of the passionate fanbase that travels. To take this from that direct quote is some incredible gymnastics. The direct quote. About. The front row.

That is honestly how I feel commenting in this thread because most people clearly have an agenda that I could never introduce any competitive thought into. But the quote was literally directed to the front row haha. I’m not saying there aren’t thousands of people in the building who go to many shows, but we’re at 42 pages of “the band is clearly sick of seeing the same people up front” and idk how it can be any more clear that that’s not the case based on what he said two weeks ago (and Ohana last year for that matter).

Only one line was directly referencing the front row.  I guess you missed “for all the people” portion of the quote. Heck maybe Ed really wrote “Something Special” about the rail hoarders instead of well you know who.  Actually it’s Corduroy I think he wrote about the obsessive fans 😉

There are many people not on the rail who have seen a lot of shows including myself.  I think his comments were as much about us as the rail hoarders
Please do not introduce reason to the parasocial relationship
That is honestly how I feel commenting in this thread because most people clearly have an agenda that I could never introduce any competitive thought into. But the quote was literally directed to the front row haha. I’m not saying there aren’t thousands of people in the building who go to many shows, but we’re at 42 pages of “the band is clearly sick of seeing the same people up front” and idk how it can be any more clear that that’s not the case based on what he said two weeks ago (and Ohana last year for that matter).
How many times has ev changed the lyrics on hail hail...

But now it's not the really the 'lucky' ones.

And it's true that if you watch some youtube shows when first row was random, some people look like they could care less they are there. Maybe they are not fans, comp tickets or just rock out on the inside.. who really knows.
I'd like to go back to seats at least for some shows. They used to do seats at fenway even after ga was a thing.

Plus I know people that can not stand long and would love to be close to front again.  Likely stand when they can and maybe sit a little too. The ga business is not an option for them.

I think they will especially after people passing out and lots of show stopping.

Just my 10 cents & not even sure I'd go to another show.

I'm just here for the posters, picks & drama ❤️
