    A kind of approach - or not…
Individual Artist online shops are invisible compared to PJ on tour and PJ online. Skate Deck sales via Artist can only be successful via PJ home + here and on TOUR > give away leaflets and scan codes at the merch stall (inside the venue) lead direct to the Artist.
There are some original skate decks in all it’s glory visible to everyone at the merch stall >> but not one to buy.

Maybe wait it out. I'd think prices should drop or try to trade something here for one. If you spend too much every time you look at it you'll be pissed!
Or in mystery bags come December.

Although a phallic shaped state backdropped against a phallic tangent band name is comedy gold. Maybe that will make it a rarity.

I was in line (pretty close to the front). I didn't see this person in question, and I was able to buy 2, so I think it's a little exaggerated. But while I was waiting next in line to go up, a guy  (who had already purchased his merch) came back in line. The lady who's register I was at told another clerk, "Yeah, he was with me, he can go ahead and go". I don't know what happened with his original transaction that he was able to go right back up (maybe they were temporarily out of license plates, and then got some?). Anyway, he asked if there was a limit on the license plates.  The clerk said, "no". He said, "I'll take 5".

    Original post:

Someone just bought all of the license plates

They limit posters and skate decks to 2 each, and stickers to 3. No limit on license plates. Some reseller just went and asked how many they had and bought out the entire stock. They gave him a box to carry them all away.

    This is disgusting, TSURT.

There was a limit of one at Hollywood 2, but they didn’t have a big supply after the screw up on Day 1 selling so many with no limit.

While I commented before that someone must be fired for this, I take that back.  Because per Pearl Jam's own written rules in their 'Merchandise FAQS,' there is no limit to license plates (or shirts!).  The only limitations they list are 2 for posters and skate decks, and 3 for stickers, buttons, and tokens.  WTF.

This is a simple fix...2 ITEM LIMIT ON EVERY PIECE OF MERCHANDISE AVAILABLE FOR SALE!

Of course, as long as they keep having merchandise for sale outside the venue, where any Joe Schmo flipper can enter the line, they will find a way to take advantage of any rule.  For example...they can go through the line multiple times or bring along a crew of flippers.

So here's my 2nd simple fix that would make things easier for everyone...ONLY SELL MERCH INSIDE OF THE VENUE.  People are just going to have to lug around their skate decks if they want one bad enough.  Or just stop selling the damn skate decks if that is too much of a safety concern/problem.
What people never seem to understand is that the goal is to sell as much merch as possible, not sell as much merch as possible to a certain group of people.
If that was true they'd just make more. Plus one goal should be to NOT piss off your loyal fans who have allowed you to be a band for 30+ years.

The goal is to leave limited inventory and achieve sales objectives. People at the venue generally do not care about limits. Sell the merch as quickly as possible. That is their job. They are not putting security at the merch stands to make sure the limits are enforced. That would cut into the profits. Why would they instill processes that slow down the sale of merch? Get real.

They do not want to be stuck with leftovers if they can avoid it. That costs money to fulfill and process. And I am not mad at the person that waited in line for 12 hrs only to flip whatever merch they bought. You too can wait in line for a license plate. Nothing against you merch hounds, but the whole thing is ridiculous IMHO.

    1. Make a set amount that’s not too big.
    2. See how quickly they sell out.
    3. Make more of needed.

You need to account for lead time. They take the money and run. Order 100,000 license plates for the tour and then they are done. Same with shirts. I do think they have done a better job of making posters available.

Most of us only buy this stuff because we feel like we will miss out or regret it later.  If there was no danger of it selling out people would have less fomo and would buy less.

They are trying to thread a needle between creating a demand by making stuff limited and still selling a ton of merch.
