Did one person really buy all the FL plates?!?!

And many of those people will pay $50 if not more per plate.
Sadly, as said, there'll always be people who feed into the flippers because they just see it as their money for someone else's time.
I can certainly understand a situation where someone would have to pay a reasonable fee ("My merch bill is $150 and that's what I charge you") or "just a little so I can get a beer during the show" but something like $199.95+50ship for a poster is ridiculous. You can usually spot the obvious flippers because they're the ones on eBay asking stupid shipping prices and in the groups with those dumb raffles the day after the tour ends.0 -

While I commented before that someone must be fired for this, I take that back. Because per Pearl Jam's own written rules in their 'Merchandise FAQS,' there is no limit to license plates (or shirts!). The only limitations they list are 2 for posters and skate decks, and 3 for stickers, buttons, and tokens. WTF.
This is a simple fix...2 ITEM LIMIT ON EVERY PIECE OF MERCHANDISE AVAILABLE FOR SALE!
Of course, as long as they keep having merchandise for sale outside the venue, where any Joe Schmo flipper can enter the line, they will find a way to take advantage of any rule. For example...they can go through the line multiple times or bring along a crew of flippers.
So here's my 2nd simple fix that would make things easier for everyone...ONLY SELL MERCH INSIDE OF THE VENUE. People are just going to have to lug around their skate decks if they want one bad enough. Or just stop selling the damn skate decks if that is too much of a safety concern/problem.208XXX (September 2000) - 21 Pearl Jam shows, 2 Eddie Vedder shows, 1 Temple Of The Dog show

My last several shows have all been at Fenway but in general I've loved showing up early in the day (or days in advance), getting merch, bringing it home, and not having to deal with it just before or during the show. I'd rather roll the dice on some stuff selling out than go fully inside only.0

It seems like there are easy fixes to this, such as only those with a show ticket can get in line for the first couple of hours of the pop up stand or need to show your ticket to buy show specific items when purchasing.0 -

Then they can always mystery box us as many times as they like to recoup left overs .
Problem solved
Here's what I would do:
Posters available for a timed sale from the 10C shop for 24 hours after the artist sale. You can buy as many as you want. One per tube, etc. Once the 24 hour window closes, that's it.
Shirts, hats, bags, everything available in the shop.
I'd then do the little things like the tokens, stickers, etc available as a set. You could get the entire year of tokens in one purchase like a box set.
Part of the problem is that the merch sellers don't care about the limits. If they can sell 25 when the limit is two, that means they get done quicker.Post edited by Lost In Ohio onPresidential Advice from President-Elect Mike McCready: "Are you getting something out of this all encompassing trip?"0 -

The onsite sellers do not care about limits. Move the merch then go home. It is all outsourced. They do not care if you buy 30 license plates as long as your card goes through.0

They are the entire problem, ultimately.

Scanning does not seem like an insurmountable obstacle. Could also send 10C Members a Line-Up code for early entry.0 -
The Problem is:
Too much good stuff is landing in too less hands and even wrong hands at first.About XXXX Dollar profit thanks to a box full of license plates. Problem: way too many plates landed in the wrong hands. The plates problem is a rather easy task to solve.More items than only skate decks for 90 Dollar sold at merchandise stalls before ticket entry point on show days are history.
And people who would pay and pay 250-500 Dollar for specific skate deck/s are not the problem. That’s the „fan-article-price“. It’s a piece of art + the 90 Dollar nice price lead to resale prices like 350,- and 500,- and more Dollar right on show day and later. Profit 250-400 x at least 4 skate decks = too much money in the wrong hands.
It seems the skate deck artist’s profit will increase. What’s to do to secure the fan‘s $$$ for skate decks and posters reach the artist at first? Tricky.Post edited by D-Day on0 -
I’m still wondering if any of the skate decks will be sold by the artist herself…
I missed out on the relatively cheap prices for the decks on eBay…so the flippers are gonna end up with my money I their pocket so I can have the board I want. I wouldnt have lined up at 10am anyways but it still sucks to pay these prices bc all the merch got sold outside the venue to anyone that wanted it.I shit and I stink, I'm real, join the club...0 -
Maybe wait it out. I'd think prices should drop or try to trade something here for one. If you spend too much every time you look at it you'll be pissed!0

i'm always amazed how crazy pj fans are about merch. Phish just played hollywood bowl and the poster is pretty cool, by killer acid who is crazy awesome, and the foil sold out immediately but the regular AP poster of only like 100 is still available in his shop after going live at 4:20 today. PJ stuff sells out in moments, but other bands have the luxury of actual fans being able to get stuff if they want it. I don't see people buying like 20 posters of theirs and being douchebags like we always have to deal with hereI'm like an opening band for your mom.0
