So yeah this is what I never quite understood.... Pierre has always said that he didnt want clearance because then he wouldn't be able to discuss things. (correct me if I'm wrong)
But.. if he doesn't have clearance, he wouldn't be privy to anything TO discuss.... so that never made sense to me.

And why does he think he should be openly discussing things with the public that are only privy to those with a security clearance??

I guess no one wanted to talk about Carney’s brilliant brilliancy in announcing his government would legislate that anyone convicted of a violent offence, especially domestic violence, would have their firearms license revoked?
Great idea, maybe that’s why it was passed into law 40 years ago.
Damn those inconvenient facts!

This is what grasping at straws looks like.
Nobody cares.
How is pointing out either incompetence or manipulation grasping at straws? This was a serious policy announcement by the Liberal Party during an election.
Has PP said he won’t get his security clearance upgraded if he becomes PM? Because otherwise THAT’S grasping at straws as far as I know and can tell.

Maybe if he’s elected PM and doesn’t hold a seat he’ll actually make an attempt at governing the country, unlike Carney who couldn’t even be bothered to table a Throne Speech.

Ugh, I am already so sick of an election campaign season, and what has it been? Like less than 2 months? It just got me thinking about how fucking lucky we are - I cannot even imagine how it must feel to be an American, with their mindbending 2-year election campaigns. It's bad enough dealijg with it from another country. Yay Canada, seriously.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata
You all know that one of PP’s staff gets a briefing on these matters and is allowed to pass on important information to the party leader?
Please stop posting as if PP getting the clearance is the only option.
I personally did not know that... and it still raises a handful of questions. Again, treat me like I'm stupid on this subject because I am lol
Liberal types criticize Pierre because he doesn't have clearance.
Pierre says he doesn't want clearance because he feels it will muzzle him. (Makes no sense to me.)
You're saying his staff have this clearance and tell him (brief him) on these subjects anyways. (Seems illegal to me.)
I'm confused... because it still seems super dumb to me as to why Pierre doesn't just get the clearance. ?
Are you able to explain it to me again so it makes any sense?

I don’t really have more specifics off the top of my head, but what I do recall reading several times is that it functions the same as the briefings the PM receives.
An assistant with clearance reads the report, triages the information and delivers what they have determined is relevant in a briefing to the leader. Nothing illegal about it unless all the parties have been breaking the rules but I do trust the reporting in this case. There’s guidelines that need to be followed and we, the citizens, are left to trust that they’re followed and the information is acted on appropriately.
Again, unless Poilievre has said he’ll refuse his clearance if he’s elected Prime Minister, this strikes me as grasping at straws. Especially given the Liberals tacit acceptance of Chinese interference on their behalf in this election.
I don’t think anyone here is stupid, by the way. Some, just like myself, aren’t always aware of all the relevant facts. And I do accept and believe that it’s possible to understand the other side while continuing to disagree with their views.

So will the narrative be written that Trump managed to steal a sure victory from the conservatives and hand it to the liberals based on his big mouth? Even today he continues to tweet on the 51st state nonsense.
I honestly think it could go either way tonight. Not sure who the silent majority is yet.
Younger people may want change, but don't tend to come out in great numbers as the older people do who may lean Liberal. So it could be anything from a Lib majority to a Con minority. That would be interesting after shitting on everyone for the last several years who do you think will want to work with you. Maybe people just don't care for Poilievre's style. People must have really hated JT, and now a 20 point lead blown. I think experience is a factor in people's decisions.
On a side note, the BQ can eff off with their rhetoric, I hope they lose seats.
Again, it will be interesting.

Wow, that sucks. I voted on a Sunday afternoon, in and out in less than 5 mins. There was a lineup on the Friday morning, so I waited.
I voted on Easter Monday in the morning. It was really short. like in and out in less than 10 minutes. Maybe 5 minutes? My neighbors voted on day 1 and said it was pretty long. It's generally good to not do things at the beginning or the end of a thing
