Should be some sort of rule that all parties must have their costed platforms released by the second week of the campaign.

Kind of ridiculous that they all left it so late.
It is easy to promise all kinds of spending, but not show how the are going to pay for it.
The other aspect that drives me nuts is promising things well into the future when the party may not even be in power anymore.

Let's get this election over with already

It would be nice for the PM to make a strong statement condemning China’s disinformation campaign, but when his own party employs the tactic domestically and it’s blown off as nothing, and the Chinese interference benefits his party, why would he? Maybe Carney really is a Chinese stooge?

Don’t forget your Carney rebate tomorrow for taxes that won’t be collected! Seems an awful lot like a bribe just a week out from the election, but again it’s a nothingburger here if it benefits the Liberals.

And the Easter weekend gets topped off with death wishes for Trump and blame assigned to Vance for the Pope’s death. But I didn’t dare criticize the Liberals for fear of spoiling the gathering. Ain’t the current “progressive” movement grand and inclusive?

Blame assigned to Vance? I thought that was very clearly a joke, since it practically writes itself.

Death wishes for Trump - I haven’t seen any of those, though I’m happy to state honestly that I feel the world would be better and overall have less suffering and death without him.

Not at all, though I read them with disappointment in my fellow citizens. If Canadians want to help Trump take over our country, reelecting the Liberal Party is one of the most effective ways. Carney will continue to keep us dependent on blood oil and handcuff our economy with carbon tariffs.

Don’t forget the brilliant brilliancy of his pledge to take away the firearms licenses of those convicted of violent crimes…a law that’s been on the books since 1985.

I loved his Trumpian ceremony on his first day, signing a document in a black folder with a sharpie. Except the document has no legal force or bearing, so it could be said his first act as PM was a lie.

Has Carney explained how only the corporations won’t pass their carbon tax down to us the consumers?

HAS CARNEY CLEARLY AND UNEQUIVOCALLY CONDEMNED CHINA’S INTERFERENCE IN OUR ELECTION? OR DOES HE STILL THINK IT’S A JOKE TO ENCOURAGE A CANADIAN CITIZEN ON CANADIAN SOIL BE KIDNAPPED AND DELIVERED TO A FOREIGN POWER?

Do you understand how this “rebate” makes zero sense?

Here, I’ll educate you: the carbon tax rebate was paid out in advance of taxes that would be collected IN THE FUTURE. Carney set the tax to zero as of April first, so the taxes we just got a rebate for WILL NEVER BE COLLECTED.

So how does this payment make any logical sense, and how exactly is it being financed (by us ultimately)?

How was Carney’s signing ceremony nothing but theatrics and was blatantly aping Trump (for no reason other than to maybe provoke Trump)?

    Arlene Dickenson:

CBC costs each of us about $33 a year or less than $3 a month.

For that, we collectively fund a public broadcaster that delivers news and stories in both official languages, reaches rural and northern communities, reflects our diversity, and connects Canadians from coast to coast to coast. No streaming platform does that. No private network ever will, because there is no money in it for them to cover the full scope of this country. But CBC does, because it was built solely to serve us and continues to do so today.

I did some digging and the United Kingdom spends about $96 per person to support its national broadcaster. France spends $70. Germany invests $142. Norway contributes more than $150. Even Australia spends $48. Canada ranks near the bottom among developed nations, yet for some reason we continue to expect CBC to do way more with far less. There is this odd narrative out there that our public broadcaster is too expensive, and somehow that has become folklore. But folklore is not fact. Somewhere along the way, the misconception replaced the reality, and we are at risk of forgetting the cultural value and importance of what we have.

At the same time, many foreign-owned media platforms operating in Canada benefit from taxpayer-supported programs like the Canada Media Fund. But when it comes to public scrutiny, CBC bears the brunt of the criticism. That disconnect is worth examining. CBC is the only platform built to serve Canadians everywhere, with a mandate to put the public interest first. It exists to reflect our voice back to us, not someone else’s.

I learned (and continue to learn) about Canada through CBC. That’s true for millions and millions of us. Today, I am proud to be part of it through Dragons’ Den. When entrepreneurs from every town and city see their ideas reach a truly national audience, it creates opportunity and optimism in every corner of this country. The reach and impact of a show like Marketplace, Murdoch Mysteries, Cross Country Checkup, and The National, speaks to the power and value of a truly Canadian platform.

CBC is not a luxury. It is a mirror. It helps us see ourselves more clearly and each other more fully. And it’s a megaphone. It amplifies our voice on the world stage. I believe the world needs to hear more from Canada, not less.

It’s not just nice to have. It belongs to us.

What I find laughable about these accusations of Carney not disclosing supposed conflicts, the other guy STILL REFUSES TO GET HIS SECURITY CLEARANCE. Yet, liberal haters never mention that. I consider this far more serious.
