Seriously, why is it ok to selectively denigrate our fellow citizens for the simple reason of disagreement and especially to then protest when someone else does the same? I don’t see how that ends in anything other than further division.

 I hope I’ve personally been consistent in shitting on the politicians, parties and other public entities.

Having holdings is worlds away from sitting on the board and making decisions that cost Canadian taxpayers revenue.

Poilievre’s camp has stated (as far as I know no proof was presented however) that when Trump began his nonsense Poilievre sold his international investments and reinvested exclusively in Canadian funds. I’m not aware of any of the other party leaders making such a claim.

But the caretaker provisions allow for such actions during a crisis, you say. How much debt is Carney incurring when all he’s supposed to be doing is keeping the lights on? Isn’t that why he called the shortest campaign possible, not so people find out what a crotchety asshole he is or he has to disclose his financials?

I don't know why you keep ragging on all these "legit news sources" complaints. Yes, if an opinion piece is being passed off as a news article, I'm going to call it out. I didn't pass this off as either one. It is blatantly obvious it's opinion based on true events. 

The problem with many right wing media sources is, the news pieces are often so blatantly skewed anti-liberal, that they often come off as opinion articles. And yes, I'm aware you see it the opposite way. And that's fine. If the piece being presented is more fact driven than opinion, then I'll give it some credence. But some of the links you post is just trudeau/liberal bashing that is too subjective to be taken seriously. Others aren't. I only call out the ones I've read and found to be extremely biased. Sorry to disappoint but I do read multiple sources that represent different editorial slants. I will admit to mainly informing myself through “traditional” media and am very leery of internet sources that aren’t tied to the established media organizations.

Ok, you’ve put me down, now what about Carney likely overstepping/abusing the caretaker status?

Actually, as I was typing I realized he didn’t. He did all this during his 9 or so days as a quasi-legitimate Prime Minister. Then he called the election at the last possible moment before he faced the task of actually governing and letting us see how he actually did.

And now anytime campaigning gets tough Carney runs off and plays Prime Minister for a day or two.

it's a couple idiots. Carney apologized. Nothingburger. If there's more proof later on that it originated higher up in the campaign, heads should roll. But I very much doubt it did. Carney is obviously no dope. That shit isn't acceptable. But I'm not going to hold the president of a company responsible for the individual actions of a couple of idiots in the mail room.

The party seemingly immediately knew who was responsible (why don’t we know the names? CBC likely does.), which strongly implies that it did go up the chain. How high? Who knows? The Liberals ask us again to trust them.

I don't think of a political campaign as a company at all. I don't think it is comparable at all. The people supporting a political campaign are dedicated, emotional, and flawed. I think Carney has made it clear so far that he is not the type to fire people for one misdeed, and he had also shown that he will clearly state how much he disapproves of the misdeeds, and also thinks thise people should accept responsibility in their own. So far, we haven't seen if he tolerates patterns of bad behavior. If we see that he does, i will certainly wonder. But if he is just a guy who is willing to give people a second chance, while being clear about his disapproval, then that just seems compassionate and reasonable to me. Time will tell. My impression is that Carney is extremely reasonable and measured, and someone who specifically does not react to things emotionally, but still works with understanding for people. Also, he doesn't seem to be full of shit, or a blowhard. That's pretty good. The more i see of Carney the more I like him, compared to PP in particular... it definitely does not hurt that he is not actually a politician... at least not yet.

My first reaction to the reassignment was an admitted “meh”. But then I watched a cbc round table discussing it, and I agreed with them the “liberal operatives” should have been relieved of their duties. (As an aside, I chuckle at “liberal operatives” like they are some sort of top secret military group). 

I 100% do NOT agree that their identities should be made known. You want to talk cancel culture? You’re advocating for it right there. I have never been about public shaming and ruining people’s lives over something so minor. 

The cbc round table thought that it’s likely “someone” higher up than these “operatives” knew about this. If so, Carney can deal with that internally. 

I’m gonna say 99.9% positive Carney knew nothing about this. I don’t know much about him, but I absolutely agree with PJSoul that this doesn’t jive eith his style. Just using logic, why would a couple buttons at one campaign meeting be on the radar of the PM? If this “operation” had been more widespread, it would be more likely. 

Any potential consequence will be felt on election day. I just don’t think this will move the needle much, and it shouldn’t.

I feel badly for most of you here. If all had gone to plan there would have been all kinds of criticism of the Trumpian buttons the Conservatives were sporting. It’s too bad the truth came out, now you need to sweep it under the rug and defend the indefensible.
