Wanna know why Walz stopped calling them weird?

    Here is your answer

yeah he should have gone a lot further...honestly Harris should have ripped him to pieces during the debate...fat, fake teeth, fake hair, fake businessman, etc.

There should have been a constant attack directly at his appearance and character.
You think that would’ve worked? Attacking his appearance? I think that would’ve been an awful approach. Everyone on tv has fake teeth , hair , lips, face. That would’ve worked as good as calling him a nazi non stop did.
Yes I do. The only way to bring down a narcissist is to tear them to shreds.

He does it...and it's very effective. Fight fire with fire.

Plus, it gets his cult followers to think about him. If he is constantly defending himself he's weak.
Attacking his appearance means they have nothing else. It’s the lowest form of arguing honestly. It’s when you have nothing else. “Oh yea well well, you’re ugly”.
should have stayed with his shitty character. all the dumb fuck moves over the years. charity fraud. failed casinos. fucking over contractors. bullshit audit lie about tax filings. flipflopping on civid vsx. the dumsfuck shit about bleach, sunlight etc.....

Agreed. Calling him ugly implies there’s nothing else to say which couldn’t be further from the truth.
Yeah that works with normal people. Not him.

Clearly they tried to use the "other things to say" and they got beat.

Yeah it's odd...but that's what the GOP has been doing to us. Those things you say here are exactly what they said about Biden and they won. They took his weaknesses and amplified them.

It’s a common critique that Democrats don’t know how to message effectively.  This is why I am, and continue to be, incredibly impressed with Jasmine Crockett.

Watch this video and see how she makes the issue relatable to everyone, and opens the door for people who have been screwed over to come back into the fold, using the sympathy.

She is perhaps the most amazing thing to show up on the political landscape in five years

This is the crux of the challenge.  I read that "Dems are stupid", "Dems have no strategy", but this little interaction here by a couple of smart, handsome and wickedly good-looking guys, shows that it's not easy to navigate this and take down a cult leader.  You guys can't even agree on how to attack.

I would say there are a few policy positions, that while humane and probably the right thing to do, enabled the R's to really paint the D's in a corner.  The one with Harris talking about trans issues I think was damaging.

That audio of her talking about transgender surgeries in jail really seems to be the nail in the coffin. Who knows though, there could’ve been nothing done by them to take Trump down. It’s all speculative at this point.

The brutal truth about Democrats.  Tell me Drew Magary is wrong... if you can.  I don't see how that is could be done.  I think this nails it.

Brian - I like you a lot and you have a great heart.  But this opinion piece is brain-candy bullshit.  It's pretty easy to sling mud when you lose an election by 1.5% and now everyone is an asshole and sucks.  But how did this advance any cause one iota?  It doesn't.  He doesn't say one, solitary constructive thing in here.  What's his value?  He has none.  He has less value than Newsome and everyone else he disparages.

I read that entire thing, and I'm not sure what it is democrats are expected to do here? Magary essentially praises trump's ability to get a stranglehold on hate, and then expects democrats to do...what? the same? the opposite? it's incredibly difficult to fight the hatred and anger people feel towards the government. Dems are in a shit place right now because trump has convinced millions of people the US is a shit place to be right now, at the same time the greatest country in the world (who are these mushbrains, anyway?) , and dems are expected to gain the same cultism through...positivity? Cuz surely we don't want dems to peddle in the same mud puddle as trump and tap into the nastiness of people. You know what people call it when they do? RADICALS. COMMUNISTS. And the middle believes them. It's like that saying, you can't win playing chess with a pigeon. You just can't. And expecting some magical big solution two months after inauguration is just unrealistic.

True, the article is a rant.  But if that's what it takes to wake Democrats up, I'm good with that.  I have tried very hard to stand by the Democratic party of which I belong.  But that weak nonsense with the paddles was the turning point for me.  That little demonstration of somber faces and ping pong paddles was the quintessential look of weakness.  If we don't start moving the needle, we are going to lose Democracy and some of us will spend the rest of our lives living under tyranny.  You don't want that, right?

It's an over-the-top rant with good points baked inside. He probably tries a bit too hard to brandish his outrage. But he's right about the timing of Biden's exit, Harris campaigning with Republicans, and John Fetterman's move towards Manchin. I'm also with him on Newsome and to an extent on the muzzling of Walz. In any case, I think he's right that the Dems don't seem equal to the task of the moment and that they've allowed the nonsense driving the national move right to handcuff them into becoming High-Road MAGA.

I agree their stupid stunts like the collective kneel and the paddles needs to go. It's performative and stupid. I don't have the answers. But rants like that doesn't exactly provide them either. It's just a guy blowing off steam, trying to make himself seem smarter than them. As a good leader always says, come at me with solutions, not problems.

I don't believe the answer is to double-down on far left policies.  The country is fundamentally center-right and always has been.  The good news is that the country constantly moves slightly left so the center-right today is far left of that mark in previous generations.  But when you go too quick to the left, there is a reactionary movement and we are living in it right now.  That's my belief.

But is continuing to look weak the answer? If you don't see Magary's viewpoint worthy, and don't believe in living in an Oligarchy and tyranny (I know you don't), then what should we be doing?
Brian - what does "strong" look like when you don't control the House or the Senate?

Strong looks more like confronting and calling out bullshit, not sitting still with a blank stare while holding up a little paddle.  Did you not find that utterly embarrassing?  I sure did.

I don't think it's the dems that need to wake up (other than they should attack trump where it hurts the most (i.e. his ego))...it's the morons that voted for trump.

The brutal truth about Democrats.  Tell me Drew Magary is wrong... if you can.  I don't see how that is could be done.  I think this nails it.

Hey Democrats, wake the f—k up

SFGATE columnist Drew Magary on the ineptitude of the Democratic Party

Brian - I like you a lot and you have a great heart.  But this opinion piece is brain-candy bullshit.  It's pretty easy to sling mud when you lose an election by 1.5% and now everyone is an asshole and sucks.  But how did this advance any cause one iota?  It doesn't.  He doesn't say one, solitary constructive thing in here.  What's his value?  He has none.  He has less value than Newsome and everyone else he disparages.

I wasn't that fond of what Al Green did either. Remember when we strongly condemned the terrible two for doing that during Biden's address?

I agree their stupid stunts like the collective kneel and the paddles needs to go. It's performative and stupid. I don't have the answers. But rants like that doesn't exactly provide them either. It's just a guy blowing off steam, trying to make himself seem smarter than them. As a good leader always says, come at me with solutions, not problems.

I don't have the answers, my friend.  But these people are paid a shit load of money to do their job, one which they are supposedly well trained for.  I don't expect our congress people to know how to identify a true first edition book like a good bookseller is capable of doing, or know how to use a circle of fifths to organize chromatic pitches and their corresponding keys the way a trained musician is capable of doing, but I do expect them to know how to respond to apolitical bullshit spewed out of the mouths of bully tyrants.

I think you are mistaken.  House members are not all that well paid and they are certainly not trained for their job.  Do you see these elected officials?  I wouldn't hire a good chunk of them for the mail room.
