Stupid social media fear mongering. Good lord. Last I checked, the same administration is still in charge and I doubt this is the only time something like this has happened under Biden. Sure, be upset about this situation, but not only because you (generally speaking) want to attribute it to Trump. Sounds like there were other issues as well.

    https://www.houstonpublicmedia.org/articles/news/2024/12/19/509316/ice-recently-deported-houston-area-woman-had-violated-conditions-to-program/
    So, you’re okay with it?
This is a much more complicated situation than just questioning if I'm ok with it and support the deportation of someone who just gave birth to twins. I think those promoting this story from a liberal viewpoint are trying to use it to sensationalize and exaggerate on what could happen under Trump while also ignoring all of the nuanced factors involved in what led to her being deported. I'm conflicted on it because I think we have laws in place and practices for individuals to legally meet the requirements, which in this case it sounds like she ignored and actively tried to avoid. For what reason, I don't know for sure, but I would presume she was concerned she would be deported before the birth of the children and maybe was hoping they could get birthright citizenship before she was deported. Again, that's me guessing why someone would actively subvert being located and meeting the requirements since October. Maybe I'm wrong and there were other issues she was concerned about, but ultimately she didn't let the legal process play out and I don't think she, nor the father, can claim victimhood in a situation that they could have entirely avoided.

If she had followed the proper process and met the guidelines, but still been deported, then I think there would be more concerns with what happened, but as it is, this family is a victim of their own circumstances.
    It's a hopeless situation...

Here's my take on "open border."
No one means it is open by the literal definition. But that we have the most lax immigration laws of any developed country. At formal crossings, yes, they check for documentation and deny entry if you don't have it. But in 99.99% of the border that isn't a formal crossing, it is thinly monitored and once you make it beyond a few miles of the border without getting caught, you're extremely unlikely to be ever sent back while receiving many benefits from the state and country.
It is against the law for a school official to even ask a student their legal status. Illegal immigrants will receive many of the same benefits at a higher rate that citizens. They can get 2 free meals a day, specialized language services, etc.
Here you get compared to Hitler if you want to deport someone who is here illegally.  But that happens everywhere else in the world.
Our immigration system is a joke, and that is how I interpret "open borders." And we bend over backwards to accommodate everyone, teachers in many states have to get an ESL (English as a Second Language) endorsement on their credential that they pay for the program on their own and take the classes on their own time or their credential is not renewed and they lose their job.
Illegals don’t receive many of the same benefits. In some states they can be eligible for certain benefits, like medical. Kids do get to go to school and I think you’re referring to being eligible for meals there where available. And I’d say the majority of republicans think we have literal open borders.
In every state I've lived schools are required to provide 2 free meals to children who live in a household under a certain income. The majority of illegal immigrants (as well as many others) meet that requirement.
What I meant by receive the same benefits, is there is very little they are denied based off their legal status. They can qualify for in-state tuition, which is just tax-subsidized college, some state funded financial Ade and scholarships, free k-12 education, anything a school offers is offered to all children. I'm not sure about subsided health care, but they can't be denied in an ER, which leads to an abuse of ER visits over non-emergency illnesses.  We offer more to illegal immigrants than any other country I've heard of.
I'm not saying it's all wrong and we should stop immediately, I'm glad we offer a lot of those services. I also think some of it is overboard too.
it's a huge problem for sure...balancing humanity with funding is a tough call

a simplistic approach would be for the US to require money from whatever country they are coming from but that is a slippery slope as well
I think we can agree on this. That would be a good idea, but don't know how you'd enforce it, or like getting blood from a turnip if you could.
How do you feel about Elongitaint being here illegally? What about Memeania being an anchor mama? Surely this bothers your conscience too? You do realize that most “illegals” as you call them arrive via airports and overstay their visas, right? So, how do you feel about the Eastern Europeans that arrive via O’hare?
I called them "illegal immigrants." And what's wrong with that? Beavers is the one that called them "illegals," feel free to give him a hard time about that and imply he is racist if you want, but I don't have an issue with it.
I am aware that there are a number of illegal immigrants from Europe who over stay their visas. Same rules should apply to them and everyone else.
I don't see any data supporting the claim that's where the majority come from, where are you getting that?
I'm not sure what you want me to say about Millannia and I assume Musk? I'm not too familiar with their immigration history other than supposedly they didn't have the right papers at some point back in the 90s. I don't approve of that if that's the case, but I don't think we should go back 30 years and retroactively charge people for immigration crimes far beyond the statute of limitations. There are thousands, if not millions of other people here legally now who were not of legal status when they arrived. I feel the same way about them all. Look at current immigration status, not what happened 30 years ago.
    1. It seems you do.
    2. It seems they don’t because you and the repubs harp on the border with Mexico while not being fauxraged by the other illegals that come from predominantly white majority countries.
    3. They were here illegally. They broke the law. But that doesn’t seem to bother you. Put this way, if an illegal came from Mexico 30 years ago, has lived and worked without breaking the law and gets pulled over and their immigration status is discovered, should they be deported? See #2.
    4. It doesn’t have pictures:

    https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2024/07/22/what-we-know-about-unauthorized-immigrants-living-in-the-us/

    5. See the drop downs in the above link that explain the laws that pertain to certain groups and how they’re applied. It’s not as simple as “open borders” and the only one you seem to concern yourself with is the southern border. Why is that?
    6. There was a bipartisan immigration bill ready to be passed that would have helped to make things better. Not perfect but better. You have your party in power will all three branches starting 1/20/2025. Who will you hold accountable on this issue and will you support the round ups and the jailing of illegals?
I guess my comment about no pictures being a light joke was missed. Same as how I took your comment of "you may have to read it."
    1. I don't have an issue with whatever you call them. I call them illegal immigrants, you can them undocumented, others just refer to them as illegals. Whatever. We all know we are referring to someone who entered or started in this country illegally.
    2. Where are you getting the data that most of the illegal immigrants arrive from airports? You are the only source I've heard that from.
Your own source shows the majority are coming from Mexico and Latin America, and I don't think most of those are flying in. If the majority of illegal immigration occurs from the southern border, does it not make sense to prioritize that? You don't go to the doctor and have him bandage up a paper cut and ignore the bullet wound.

    3. I'm not familiar with the details, but I'll assume you're right and they were here illegally (I've seen them state otherwise, but I'll give you the benefit since I haven't looked into it). That was like 30 years ago and they've managed to make themselves legal residents since. Only murder, kidnapping and sex crimes against children have a statute of limitations that long. Any family or person that moved here 30 years ago and has managed to make themselves legal residents by now I don't think anyone should concern themselves with.
    5. See #2
    6. I think all politicians have let us down when it comes to the border and immigration policy. Being more concerned with re-election and looks that results.

visa overstays. reporting by fiscal year back to 2015.

Am I missing something? It says the total number of row overstays for 2023 was 565,000. The claim I was asking about was that there are more over stays that illegal crossings. We get 10 times that number in illegal crossings.
Another question would be how many of those over stays had planned to make it permanent and how many left within a few weeks? Not that we ignore those, but it wouldn't really be fair to compare someone who over stayed by 2 weeks to someone who crossed over illegally and planned to stay forever. Apples and oranges.
But to answer the other question posed, it doesn't matter how they get here, immigration needs to change. The reason the focus is on the southern border is because that's where the biggest issue is in terms of just plain numbers.

lets back up. define illegal crossing.

I define it as folks who cross and disappear into the interior.

Asylum seekers can cross where ever, per USCIS rules, at  border point or anywhere and promptly turn themselves in to claim asylum.

    thats found here

    how to apply here

think its pretty self-evident what overstays are.

Wrong! First your statement doesn’t even make sense.  He was deported by Trump in 2018 and reentered later at an unknown time.  Common sense would lead one to think he reentered during the Biden administration b/c they reversed all of Trumps border policies and left the border wide ass open.  Btw, TRUMP was Prez in 2018.  Not Biden.

  • If they arrested him he probably will be deported. Or do you mean deport all non-violent illegal immigrants too?

I believe he’ll be deported after being convicted and serving his sentence here unless there’s a swap or guarantee that the sentence will be served in the country where they’ll be deported to. It’s not like they come here, commit a crime and the punishment is solely deportation. Of course they mean deport “all” “others.”

Nope.  We have most of the materials already.  Remember the Biden Admin just got caught trying to sell it off for penny’s on the dollar but that was stopped. Thank you Ken Paxton of Texas for that!!

More propaganda. Seek help for your addiction to misinformation. It's troubling how gullible you are. I hope you don't manage money or make decisions for anyone else.

But the federal government is actually required to sell these excess pieces, and the process started months ago. The Department of Defense told media outlets that it must use, transfer, or donate all excess wall construction materials because of the National Defense Authorization Act.

The official said that the materials were divided up, with 60% going to authorized recipients like Texas, California, or U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The other 40% was sold to GovPlanet back in June, so the pieces that were up for auction no longer belong to the government.

The DoD says Texas did request some of those materials and later received them.

As for the pieces being auctioned off from Arizona, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick proposed that Texas buy the materials and donate them to Trump. However, after consulting with the Texas Facilities Commission, he walked back the plan.

“The Texas Facilities Commission told us today that the material for sale was mostly junk, with most panels covered in concrete and rust,” Patrick wrote in a post on X. “There were a few panels that might be usable, but not worth the cost of shipping to Texas from Arizona.”

    It's a hopeless situation...
